On the fence right now. Building a new house down here just south of Fort Worth, Texas. Cannot get good info on whether to go with open cell or closed cell foam insulation. Going to do the roof of the attic and all the exterior walls. Any ideas on which is best for my situation, open cell or closed cell. Roof will be heavy concrete Mexican tile. Walls are stucco.
sealing externally to your sheathing is only a good idea in hot climates. if you're in a cool climate, you want the vapor barrier to be on the insided. if you do both, or the wrong one for your climate, you'll grow mold. also, no discussion of rock wool? I think this guy's advice will get you in more trouble than he will help
Thank you for your comment. Rock wool can definitely be used as an insulation material. There are many options available. We just mentioned the most common ones we are seeing used. With proper ventilation in the house, we have found the vapor barrier and building envelope should be established on the outside of the house.
I am renovating my house and looking for the most affordable option plan on doing room by room will I need to take in what type of sheeting I have?
The best bang for your buck method for what you described is foam board and canned foam.

Would still recommend open cell.
@@RetroFoamofMichigan Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. Appreciate it. Ok, I will go the open cell route.
