I like what you did to the finish, kind of ‘punk rustic’. I think you’re right, those are probably not the original pups. It sounds a lot better than the few I’ve picked up but that is probably down to the player. Cheers!
I'm getting the same guitar tomorrow. S m10 with zakk Wylde emgs. Could you elaborate on how you stripped the original paint and how How did you get the stain to look like that? I absolutely love what you did
Thanks man! Really appreciate that, the guy I got it from used a sander to get the paint off, albeit quite badly so I got a small hand sander and just smoothed everything out as best I could, I wasn’t that worried about getting it all off as some of the black would still show through and I was on with that, I then used an antique walnut stain that I had and gave it two coats of that, I didn’t bother with a clear coat as I didn’t want it shiny, and it turned out good I think, I did of course disassemble the guitar first, I also took the paint off of the headstock and stained that but it didn’t look as good as the body so I then got a spray can of black paint and just dusted the headstock to taste to give it that same walnut look, hope that helps! Cheers
Also you don't need to be a shredder to take advantage of this guitar. Even though it has emgs you should really go back to this guitar and mess with clean tones. Emgs have natural compression so they can do cleans very well better than high gain in my opinion.
That’s so true, I’m more of a swampy blues player and this guitars pickups are incredible! I have since moved it on though, nevertheless a great all round instrument!
I love everything about that, great work!
Thanks! And thanks for watching!
Glad you’re enjoying the LTD! I’m the guy you swapped guitars with. You did a great job with this guitar.
