  • Brad chats about the all-new Ruark R1S Subwoofer with Alan O'Rourke, Owner of Ruark Audio.
RS1 delivers bass that smaller speakers can’t, giving a more satisfying and realistic audio experience. It’s a perfect addition to Ruark’s MR1 and R3S models or any other system where a subwoofer with style and good sound is required, providing the joy of bass in every note and song.
Born from the desire to enhance the already impeccable sound of Ruark’s award-winning MR1 Bluetooth speakers, the all-new RS1 subwoofer can transform the audio performance of any home speaker with driving rhythm and rich harmony. Beautifully controlled and fundamentally musical, RS1 is the bedrock of larger than life sound that you can both hear and feel.

Today's audio products are sooo confusing, across the brands, including Roark's. Their webpages are full of hyperboles, and yet products become obsolete within years. But, only with the help of Ruark's own "Comparison table page" I could finally understand: 1) the differences in Roark's products, 2) their different technologies, benefits and shortcomings of each and 3) their different uses. And because some other companies have nearly identical approach and products, "clones in different clothing", I could finally understand the overall picture. So, thanks Ruark for making the Comparison table page.

MR1 definitely needs better cooling, as they run way too hot! Increasing their size a little, and fixing the heatsink in the built-in amp, should be nice.

About 45 years ago I attended a hifi show in London - either the Olympia or the Heathrow show.
Anyway in one room was Dennis O' Rourk who had built some 2 way speakers into a pair of aluminum trash cans as cabinets...and they sounded great. Those course were a wag that turned out far better than anyone ever thought they could.
Whatever happened to those TC-1 speakers??

Looks fine indeed. Now show us how to connect the subwoofer to a poweramplifier with(of course )four terminals. Thank you in advance

Hi @alexandervaneijken7741, Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately this subwoofer will only work with an amplifier with a single sub output. You may be better off looking at a REL? Be sure to contact one of our stores if you have anymore questions. All the best - Brad - Audio T

@@audiot I was thinking about a single cable with one cinch on one side tobe plugged into the subwoofer and two cinch plugs on the other side to be connected to the plus andminus of the speakerterminals on the poweramp.
(seemed logical to me) But you tell differently . Pity (there must be lots andlots of amplifiers without a single output ou there

Hi @@alexandervaneijken7741, afraid that is the case. The input on the Ruark Sub is a standard RCA and isn't built to take a powerload from an amplifier. I'd honestly suggest the REL T-Zero as a suitable replacement for the type of set-up you're discussing 👍🏻
