The Occupancy Sensor to trigger routines sounds intriguing. I hope Amazon will update all Echo Show displays to allow this function. $330 Canadian!? We in Australia have roughly same exchange rate as $US to $Canada, but the recommended retail price will be $399.
OUCH! That's just insanity for a display....wow. They still need to work on occupancy in low light, and I'm not sure physically if this can do it. As for the other displays...I think their cameras are just not good enough to do it.
Another one well done ! Its really hard to get used to on my kitchen counter. The problem is google knows us so well. Working with UA-cam premium and UA-cam music , I stopped that subscription and moved to Spotify. Its gonna take some time to get used to it. My wife hates it. Its missing features like when a song you like is playing , you can say (ok google ) I like this song. Not only does google remember , it also plays songs thatbare similar . This walled garden is hard to overcome when switching platforms. I really want to switch to Amazon because of the zigbee chip but its making it so hard when google still understands us better
Google definitely still has the lead in a lot of things, but hardware now? Oooooooh it's a much closer game. Still...I don't know that I'd try to switch right now if you're generally happy. Things are pretty similar in the end ;)
Oh, and I should add that if Google comes out with a similar product, I'd get one for the kitchen. We use it for recipes and having it follow us so we wouldn't need to go in front of it would be useful.

Very complete review! At 14:58 you mention closed captioning in call. I've never seen that work. At 18:57 you mention that you can't set announcement devices. I ran into that same issue, but I can say "Alexa show me the Echo Show 10" just like any other home camera, but with panning.
The closed captioning option is in the accessibility options, but I can't say I've tried it. It was just something I wanted to point out as being there. You're right about the camera, as you can definitely ask to see it from just about anywhere, and inside the app too!

Great review brian, im so close to getting the show 10 today. My only question is Should i get it, even though im google heavy? I have 3 nest minis and one original google home. I have a firestick 4k and two regular firesticks. I was leaning towards the nest hub max , but i really like the screen swivel on the show 10.
Hey Willie...that's a big investment! I really enjoy the Nest Hub Max and I think that it does a great job at being a control interface. The rotating screen is nice, but I'll say this...it's not critical. Watch my latest video! We talk about the Max right away.

It depends what feature you're after exactly, but your News choice can be changed in the Alexa App under Settings. There's also a Flash Briefing that you might be looking to change, it's in the same Settings -> More Settings segment.
Another great video! And you might want to do a video on Amazon guard plus I got it really cool. Finally last but not least I highly recommend silk I find it to be one of the finest browsers out there at least for me. Does this have a screen magnifier? I gave it away. If it does I'm me by another one. Take good care of yourself that was an excellent excellent review but are you and Craig using the same crib notes? LOL
How do you setup echo so that it’s all configured for the family? With google nest when you set things up in the home app it’s shared amongst all in the family that the devices are shared to. With echo we share our prime membership and so each of us have an account. When I get things like groups or skills setup they don’t carry to others. They seem to need to configure words and skills separate. The only thing shared seems to be device names, (i.e, the renaming of Alexa devices), this makes it somewhat troublesome to teach everyone commands since it varies, or the skills aren’t configured. Can you advise or create a separate video on that portion of newbies?

Google home is much more condusive to setting up and sharing smart home items. For example me as a primary member can configure and setup WEMO or HUE with my credentials and immediately everyone can see. This isn't he case with Alexa and skills, each person needs to name them and furthermore it doesn't use pre-defined rooms that the other items share. I might need to hold off on Echo's for the home if that is the case

Uhhhh well it's told me whatever I want it to tell me...so I think you just make a routine so it doesn't tell you about the lack of clothes, but the positive changes you've been making to your diet!
I would say that in general the speaker is clearer, but if you've tried a new Echo 4th Gen and haven't found that to be good enough...then don't look to this to be much better. :)
Question. My Smart home is Google assistant only. But I was thinking, If I get an Amazon Alexa, will I be able to control a Harmony Hub (= HH) in my Man Cave? Cause Google Assistant can only voice control 1 HH and I have 3 of them. I use the 1 HH that I can control in the livingroom. My Man Cave and Master Bedroom HH can't be controlled by voice anymore. At first, IFTTT solved that problem and I was able to voice control, all 3 HH'S but, IFTTT is gone, since they started charging (corporate greed.) Then Samsung SmartThings solved my problem. But since SmartThings latest update, HH is no longer supported. So I'm back to only being able to control only 1 HH. So instead of buying a whole new Hub like Hubitat or Home Assistant. I was wondering, can I just buy a cheap Alexa device and use that to control the HH in my Man Cave? The 3rd HH in my bedroom just won't have no voice assistance and I'm cool with that, if one have to sacrifice. What do you think? Brian?
Hey Philly...you and those 3 Harmony's...I just don't have the ability to test if 3 will come into Alexa. It might just be time to bit the bullet and pay the $4/month for IFTTT...cause that's the cost!

There's not much to say. It can do either and it picks based on signal strength and what connection will provide the best experience for you. So, you can move the router or you can move the Show 10. :)

You can. You just need a subscription that isn't for a single device. Amazon offers that, then a home subscription (that allows playing of your subscription at one time), and then a family subscription. And just to complicate things, there's also Amazon Music Unlimited, which is all songs. For most people, get Amazon Prime and you'll get more than enough. Prime allows playing on any of your speakers.

This could be related to WiFi. If you can't get anything to start, make sure you do have the subscription necessary for the service, but if you've tried UA-cam and you can't get a video to start...you've likely got WiFi or network issues.
