  • Welcome to my channel, gardening enthusiasts! Today, we have an exciting project on our hands - transplanting a big adenium plant into a new pot. Adeniums, also known as desert roses, can grow rapidly during rainy seasons, leading to broken pots. But don't worry; I'll guide you through the entire process.
Step 1: Removing the Old Pot
First, we'll remove the broken pot and gently shake off the excess soil. This helps ensure our plant's roots are nice and clean. Alternatively, you can simply place the plant into a larger pot without disturbing the roots.
    Step 2: Trimming and Pruning
Next, it's time for some gentle root pruning. Trimming smaller roots like this encourages healthy growth. We'll also trim the leaves with precision, being extra cautious not to damage the plant's skin. Take a look at how it appears after this meticulous trimming.
    Step 3: Protecting Plant Health
To safeguard our plant's health, I'll apply a layer of fungicide. Then, we'll find a suitable location - a shaded area or an indoor space. But remember, don't rush; we need to wait 7-10 days until the cut area has dried out.
    A Pro Tip: Leaf Removal
For mature plants, you can even remove all the leaves and keep the plant in the shade for over a month without harm.
    Step 4: Preparing the Soil
Now, let's prepare our planting mix. I'm using some aged soil and enriching it with vermicompost. For more details on the ideal soil mix, check out our dedicated video linked in the 'i' button.
    Step 5: Planting and Care
After planting, resist the urge to water immediately. Wait until you start seeing new leaves sprout. After about 10 days, you can gradually introduce your adenium to morning sunlight and eventually full sun exposure. Remember to water only when the soil is completely dry to ensure optimal growth.
That's a wrap for today's adenium transplanting adventure! Thanks for tuning in. If you have any questions or need further guidance, feel free to ask in the comments section below. Hey Roy, a subscriber here from Lake Charles, LA in the U.S.. I heard or read somewhere that the roots of a plant are to be handled delicately. Apparently, that doesn't apply to desert rose! The desert rose just doesn't fit the profile of a succulent, it looks more like a deciduous tree! I have a total of 5 of them, 4 Adenium obesums and 2 A. Arabicums that are not nearly as large as this one, but you have provided good general info. Thanks.

Thank you for your lovely comment. Adeniums are really easy to grow. People usually overcomplicate this compared to other plants. Plenty of sunlight, well-drained soil, and slow-release fertilizer are all you need. I'm going to post a video on Arabicum real soon. Stay tuned and happy gardening!
