Wu Tang Collection - Mystery Of Chess Boxing
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 лют 2025
- Director: Joseph Kuo
Cast: Lee Yi Min, Jack Long, Mark Long, Simon Yuen
Lee Yi Min stars as a young boy, Ah Pao, who wants to learn kung fu so that he can avenge his father's death at the hands of the Ghost Faced Killer (Mark Long). The Ghost Faced Killer, meanwhile is hunting down a number of clan leaders who all conspired to have him killed. Before attacking, the killer always throws down his "ghost face killing plate," a decorated metal plate with a red face. He then uses his distinctive five elements style. Ah Pao attends a local kung fu school (The Chang Sing School), but is bullied by the seniors. However, the school's cook (Yuen Siu Tien) helps the boy and teaches him some moves after challenging Ah Pao to steal one grain of rice from the Chef's bowl. He succeeds only in cheating and waiting for the Master to finish his meal. The chef then teaches Ah Pao some kung fu but admits that he will never be good enough. He tells him, "When the time comes to go, I'll tell you where to go all right." He proves to be adequate for his day-to-day living but cannot fulfill his deep desire for revenge. When Ah Pao is found in possession of the Ghost Faced Killers’ symbol, he is expelled from school. While he leaves in exile, his teacher is forced to shut the school down in fear of his students being killed. After the students leave, the teacher is killed by the Ghost Faced Killer. Still wishing to learn kung fu, he turns to an old Xiangqi (a.k.a. Chinese chess) master Chi Sue Tin (Jack Long), recommended by the cook, for training. The master is an old enemy of the Ghost Faced Killer who reveals his former identity: he was a former kung fu chief who held sway over the area with his fellow fighters, but he was forced to go into hiding after being badly injured in a fight, and also coming under scrutiny by the Ghost Faced Killer. Chi Sue agrees to teach Lee his chess boxing kung fu. Ah Pao finally learns the strategic link between chess and kung fu. He and Chi Sue Tin team up using double horse style, a reference to Xiangqi, and they defeat the Ghost Faced Killer.

Ghostface Killah got his name from this movie is so interesting. The rapper from Wu Tang Clan.
Wu Tang Clan got EVERYTHING from Kung Fu movies, they were insane Kung Fu movie buffs, every member is named after a Kung Fu character.... even the group name "Wu Tang Clan" is after a clan/martial art in Kung Fu movies.
The sky is high, cloud is low...
*Nobody can defeat my Shaolin Wing Chun style...*
Damn who would've guessed!

All these movies need to be remastered in 4K and stored carefully. Golden era of martial arts classics.

A true Wu Tang (Clan) classic.
... Ghostface Killah ....
I love seeing Simon Yuen in a movie.

I love these older kung fu movies more than tributes like Crouching Tiger. Something about the fake fight sounds makes it have a sureal feel and look that is very unique and awesome. Even a bend of a finger sounds like a 10ft sword being swung. Lol I love it
😂😂😂😂 Oh my Goodness you right
Yes, I totally agree, and I'm making content on my channel with the fake kungfu sound effects, and its not as easy as you might think. Timing each sound . . . It's tough.
I remember being 8 years old trying to replicate all the moves in the living room. This movie sparked my martial arts journey.
😅😅 right
So now you are a Shaolin master!

I'm so thankful to see that these marvelous movies have not faded away into history. Thank God for You Tube and the people that post these videos. Its been over 30 years since I last saw this movie and I came across it by luck. It looked somewhat familiar but wasn't sure until I saw it again. Thanks you so much to you 'Wu Tang Collection'!
Beautiful kunfu of ghost face killer. His style real thrilling. Beautiful coordination of his movements. No exaggeration. I really respect his kungu
One of the top villians in Martial arts cinema history. In my top 3.
In both fighting style and also verbally 😂😂
Now You know where all the breakdance moves come from.
Joesph kuo's best Kung fu movie in my opinion...all his others movies are good too..

Born invincible
Born Invincible is fantastic and similar film style.
Ghost-Faced was the superior fighter. He only lost because his dishonorable opponents teamed up and fought him 2 on 1. They brought eternal shame to their dojo for their cowardice. They should have died like men in single combat. Rest in peace to the only hero of this movie, the legendary Ghost-Faced Killer.
You're not wrong
He was too damn good so they had to combine their skills to win

The water technique '! 🤣 Awsome
Yes, but the Earth can absorb water.😂
I have watched these old movies for 40 years and it's the crap talking and style naming I like most. Oh and the over-emphasized sound effects and bad English dubbing as well.
Arguably one of the best top 5 kung fu movie among 600+ movies made.
Definitely in my top 5!
@@FuShengAlex I recently watched "Call me Dragon" and although the scenario is not first class and some sidekick actors are second rate, it is a real kung fu skills movie, where there is no magic blow, no magic weapon or trick and no incessant film cut to mask the lack of kung fu skills of the actors which is common in the genre. I was stunned by the end fight where they do crazy acrobatics with no wires, no off camera bouncing board or anything and one guy does a flying kick that amazingly high and you can see him running from a stop with no cheating. I recommend it.
Ghost Face Killer shoots the fair one with everyone he has beef with. I respect that.
To me this strikes me as the best Kung Fu Movie of all time. The choreography was on point especially if one has to consider the year the movie was made, incredible!

Insane choreography in the opening.
I've always admire the work they did far as choreography, I couldn't imagine who insane it had to be- the process of filming those scenes had to be a tremendous amount of pain, stress, and passion for perfection. I don't think most understand how much dedication was put into these movies. The discipline & focus.. for our entertainment.
These movies are diamonds, rare diamonds- thank you, uploader!

Indeed! Huge work!
this is true for all skill related form of entertainment (no special fake effect) but i especially admire the work done in classic kung fu movies filmed outdoors. This is far superior than what they do today.

This is one of the greatest fight scenes I've ever seen. Great movie!
I remember watching this on 42nd ST in New York City back in the day. Everybody in the theatre was screaming over Ghostface killer. It was an amazing time. I miss those days. Watch three movies for 5 bucks. Did not know we were watching classics at time....Insane.

He wastes a lot of energy before he even gets started.

Who’s still watching this movie 🎥 2018 my favorite movie 🎥 I love it 😍
I watched this movie in 2001. It was one of my best Chinese movies
Ghost faced killer is not a bad villain, but I think mr. Hwang jung Lee is a better bad guy, n a better triple thunder kick!!! “ ghost face killer” is a bad asss name tho!!!!🙏🏾thank u WU Tang!!!
Totally agree. Hwang Jiang li is amazing!
You could put Ghostface Killah in ANY movie (i dont care wtf it is, Sound of Music? Peppa Pig?) and i would watch, over and over. By far the greatest kung fu villain ever (with the greatest name).
Good movie. The story line was just as great as the Kung Fu. 🙂

This movie shows lee I min in the training session! His somersault are impeccable as well as his teacher! This is one of the best movies of all times!!!..😊😷😎!....
Li I min , wonderful Kung Fu star ,a Wu Tang collection, action action action from your best Kung Fu stars.
I agree! I wish he and Jackie Chan had worked together back then.
Feels like I'm 9 years old on the couch with my little brother 40 years ago. We never had a whole lot, this was something we always looked forward to on Sat. morning.
There is much Wisdom in simple words... one must be calm to play chess, one must understand chess to do martial arts😻
This is one of the best Kungfu Movies of that ERA!!
Ghost Faced Killer! Best Kung Fu Villain of all time!
Kwang Jang Lee was a pretty good kung fu villain as well.
3 way tie with:
Yao Fae Lin - Shaolin vs Lama
Mad Dog - Raid Redemption 1
Ghost faced killer, Yao Feng Lin, Abbott white are iconic cause of how unique they are but there will never be a better villain than Pai Mei
Purrr I love kung fu movies it was great 😍
I dare someone to name a better old school kung fu movie that can come close to this. This is straight FIRE!!
Dance of The Drunken mantis 7 steps of kung fu World of drunken master
James MangenA that movie is good but i still believe this is better
Killer Priest
You would have to say enter the dragon or game of death, just because of the realism of the fight scenes.
Five Elements Ninja
Ghost face killer fight on his own all movie . If I’m not wrong this is the first movie I see a villain 🦹 fight on his own .
Being born in 1978 I had the opportunity to watch all of the great movies on Kung Fu Theater which came on after Soul Train in Atlanta on channel 36! I couldn't wait for it to come on because I actually hated soul train. My uncle would come over and have beers and smoke a little grass with my dad and they would talk about their favorite actors!
yes kung fu theater came on in nc after soul train here but on channel 11 at 1pm and black belt theater on channel 5 at 3pm
So you're both talking about the kung fu theater show that was based out of northern california and sometimes showcased different living martial artists doing short demos?
because if so, my mind is blown! i didn't know SF bay area shows were aired in other parts of the country since it was just a small show.
Kung fu theater was Awsome!!! I couldn’t wait till Saturday to get here. 😂

Two against one but he bravely defeats all his opponents and bravely dies, the villain is praised.
Anyone from NYC remember going Downtown to 42st and watch this classic when it first came out. love it! True Classic!
Yes! The early 1980's at the Cine 42 on 42nd St. Do you remember that KFC that use to be near the corner of 42nd and 7th Ave. Me and my Homies use to stop in there, to get a bucket of Chicken and then head off to see the Kung Fu flicks. Memories!!

One of the all time classics. I just wonder how come the shaw brothers production was so much better than everyone elses
better ? i disagree. Shaw brothers had a definite style of making the movie, which becomes cookie cutter and that's not always good. I much prefer those independent movie producer who filmed in the great outdoors, waterfalls, huge fields, cliffs, forests or some lost countryside village.. it brings a lot of character in a movie not some artificial decor shaw brother studio.
ikr
Sb movies are remastered by Celestial pictures. One thing I dont like about some SB movies is the indoor setting where it is very noticeable when you the clouds dont move and the artificial plants.
@@pkrockin3923 ironically that's a lot less noticeable in old low definition transfers like those 80s VHS versions, meaning the bad old transfers looked better in a way. Especially in some of the later Shaw Brothers movie where you can actually see the sets are slightly dirty and damaged (Five Element Ninjas, etc).
At any rate, it is what it is.

Excellent!!! One of the most epic final fight scenes!
hard to contradict. I could only compare the energy to a rapid torrent. It goes and goes and goes with only top difficulty techniques. I love the stability and calm of the fighters, you can feel some ease. These are not average athletes.
I remember this movie in the early 80s in Eastern Sierra Leone. It's original .Thanks to UA-cam.
Forgot how good this film is
I love how these classic kung fu movies end. The antagonist dies , "The End" . That's it. No BS!
Good movie👍
