I had a blue gt super six passed down from my brother who bought it new in 1977. Our mum is Italian and once my brother had written a letter to Fantic Motor in Italy asking how to convert this to the fully unrestricted Italian version, she translated the letter and posted it. They replied saying to slightly increase the inlet port size, cut the exhaust and remove most of the baffles and change the carb to a larger size. My brother mate had just blown up his 1975 Malaguti which had the correct carb and he did all the work sucessfully. It was a speed tested with him and one of his mates on the back and his other mate rode along side on his Yamaha 250cc US Custom. The result was a genuine 75mph on a flat level road. Flipping brilliant and i could hear them from nearly 2 miles away.

yeah blasting past all those fizzie's for about a week before your Italian dream went bang which they all did ...then back on the bus or bicycle until someone could get the right spares in which took so long you wished you bought a fizzy......happy days.

...and, from my experience, a dew days later the fizzie blew up and you wished that you'd bought a Puch. The problem with old peds was that they were screwed to death without maintenance. The P6 engine was far superior to the Yamaha unit which was underpowered and old in design. If only people had treated them with a bit more respect.....Parts for fantics were easy to get and tended to be less expensive. The fizzie engine used Yamaha technology dating back to the 50s. The TX220 engine was developed and would turn out 9hp to the fizzie's 4.8. I worked on an AP50 engine which was the same design and spec as the engine on an old U50 from 1964.
