    Good luck, doctors finally sent my forms off this week and been running like a lunatic for the last few weeks. I think the mental side of it is one of the biggest challenges with it, just as it’s not a normal situation to be in. And I might be wrong it might have changed but during my interview the recruiter said if you fail it first time you get another chance.

      The running. I had never used a treadmill before and I thought it would be the same/easier than running on roads/fields because everyone said so. I did ok, but still not good enough. I've hit my running target 5 times in a row now its just rough and i wonder if i can do the whole test together. I'm just fed up of waiting its been a while now. Best of luck @@JakeGchannel .

      He is loving it. He said that the initial fitness test is pretty straight forward, but once you get on your training they are very big on cardio work (so a lot of running, beep tests, up and down hills etc) and you are quite sleep deprived too. So cardio is the one to practice as much as possible.

    you’ll smash it mate. I remember my training in Halton earlier last year, a stereotype of military personnel is big huge built up people with giant muscles. You don’t need any of that, you just give it your everything and that’s all you can do. Nobodies going to tear your head off for fluctuating fitness levels down to whatever reasons, you just need that effort. hit them press ups and sit ups on a full stomach, when I was doing my training, we had woken up at 5am, breakfast at 6am, and lunch (it’s like a buffet with something different everyday. it’s an external company that goes into Halton, so don’t expect the best food and certainly from my experience not the happiest people on the planet. I then had my lunch at 1200hrs, before doing my full mstf, followed by my press ups, into my situps (make sure you work on that posture, the pts make it absolute hell by continuing to say “no rep” so be prepared to do more than expected. (bloody hell, I don’t miss them women fitness instructors, their voices were the most wired little squeaks in the world, especially in a hall 😅)

    • @JakeGchannel
      @JakeGchannel  5 місяців тому

      Ahahah sounds like a real challenge which makes it even more exciting and yeah I've been going crazy last week and will be fine tuning this week and then pray that it was all good enough to pass if not back to the drawing board but if I look at it from reality I do have a real shot passing first time around but if I don't for whatever reason then second time defo will pass. Yeah I've been to a few RAF bases where the caterers are not the happiest bunch so I'll be somewhat used to it.

    • @JakeGchannel
      @JakeGchannel  5 місяців тому

      Yeah I've heard they are strict on form, do the measure press ups with their fist and your chest has to touch it?

    • @sotjuan558
      @sotjuan558 5 місяців тому

      @@JakeGchannel They don’t do that anymore, what it is, they get all of the groups lined up in single files lines, and they have 1 pt to a line. Then they do the front person then the second etc. But they squat down to the right side of you, and look at your arm posture and height, they used to do the fist, but they look for more structure now. Also, with the sit-ups, your elbows touch the very middle of your kneecaps and a recruit stand on your toes facing outward. The pt stands to your right, and looks from there. You all get coloured bibs with numbers, and they reference to your number instead of name. And you are always either jogging or running in the gym, there’s no walking and they are very strict on that (someone did the bleep test and tried walking after, he got his head absolutely shouted at after not running and them telling them, they sent him out). If you ever want any information on the Army either, I know it’s a different scheme but similarities are there, my friend is a warrant officer and I can put you in touch with him!

      @JakeGchannel  5 місяців тому

      @@sotjuan558 That's really interesting I never knew that. Are you talking about the fitness in basic training or do they conduct their fitness like that in the PJFT as well?

    • @sotjuan558
      @sotjuan558 5 місяців тому

      @@JakeGchannel Pjft is quite different, they won’t expect you to do the bleep test (as you already know), but more when you do your 2.4k on the treadmill, you cannot touch the sides or stop, or if you do you get a maximum of 2 times before failure. When you do your pjft it will just be you in a civilian gym with a civilian gym personal trainer to do your test who is trained for it, on the pjft they aren’t to strict on posture but it’s more if you can do it, on the actual fitness test during phase 1 (on day 2), is how I said. So what I said it for the fitness test at the beginning of your phase 1 training.

I'm not sure if they would pull your applications did she say you'll have to wait a year before applying? I might be reading it wrong. When I was TMU they said 3/4 months unless there is legit progress (I.e medical documents have been sent and waiting for approval would count as legit). Hope this helps.

      @@mufadzi3660 I have been running quite a bit more and have noticed a difference but the whole body is more conditioning than strengthening even though those two seem to entwine they don't. For example, when I do the sled pulls my heart is racing out of my chest when I combine weighted walking lunges. It's all to get my heart rate up under stress while focusing on maintaining my breathing so I can improve as breathing is my weakest point. The muscle gained from that is more a plus than a goal. I didn't really state this in the video when I should of done.
