Hi Brian, fantastic vídeo as always. As a big proponent and uset of overshirts as a layering piece i just would like to point out something: i feel that an overshirt looses a lot of it's versatility when you have 4 pockets (safari configuration) instead of just 2 (workshirt configuration) -maybe that would be the difference beetwen shirt/jacket and plain overshirts, in wich case my rambling doesnt make sense, hehe-because you loose the alternative of tucking in the overshirt and use it as a substitute for knitwear/middle layer, and throw a sportcoat or Blouson on top of it when it gets colder. I guess what i'm trying to say is that overshirts are most versatile when you can use it as outerwear (untucked), middle layer (tucked in) or base layer (anyway) an layer on top of it or underneath according to temperature. Hell, you could even use a scarf and tuck it inside the overshirt if gets cold and it looks almost as a replacement for a tie

Big fan of this trending style, leans towards that Neapolitan style of southern Italy. The linen one is gorgeous. I am more a fan of the safari due to the belt since I have an 11in+ waist drop so it helps keep it more fitted on me. Would love to see a belted option in the future!
How can I create a unique outfit? The ideas I like are already taken. For example, I want to wear a black t-shirt with a black or charcoal suit. But, Maury Povich has already done it and copying other people's outfits causes me to feel bad. I can't find my style because all the styles I like have already been done. I like t-shirts with suits and dark colors. There's many other outfits I like but can't wear them because someone else has already worn it and being a copycat isn't what I desire to transform into. Please tell me advice and opinions regarding what I should do.
I don't even own a suit anymore. In the last 10 years (or maybe more) I didn't have even one single situation where a suit would be appropriate. No one in my office is wearing one, I don't see anyone on the street wearing one and I didn't visit any weddings or funerals. I would look like an alien in a suit. Maybe this is only a trend in Germany, I don't know. But even if I travelled to Silicon Valley, I didn't see enough suits to justify buying one. Don't get me wrong, I would like to wear suits. I find them stylish. But I don't wanna look overdressed. I'm always wondering why all the style channels are still talking so much about suits.
I love that linen herringbone in gray. It looks more “dressier” than the others. The safari shackets, especially the lighter colors, give off that Roger Moore era James Bond kind of vibe.
The shacket or shirt-jacket absolutely epitomises the very definition of casual chic menswear. A style in which you are relaxed, comfortable and sporty yet put together, refined and elegant. As we're all well aware that due to the pandemic the impetus is greatly shifted towards lounge attire, and as work from home has become a norm rather than an exception; people NEED a garment which is cozy, comfortable, unstructured and lounge appropriate yet professional and put together. They need a casual chic garment which is very much the dress code for most work from home outfits, and the shacket fits that bill perfectly if perfection ever existed, so I absolutely don't see it as a surprise that it has become a trend nowadays.
The JLC Reverso was so gorgeous, I nearly had to report the video to You Tube for pornographic content. Fantastic stuff as usual. Love the navy and olive shackets.
Love the safari style, the pockets at the bottom give the jacket more symmetry between the top and bottom halves compared to just a regular shirt jacket
I'll admit I'm not a huge fan of shackets and probably wouldn't be able to pull one out by myself, but damn look #3 is great! Tailored yet down to earth. Love it. Cheers
I have a “chore jacket” in wool/cotton from bonobos that I style the same way, and it’s been my go-to all spring, either to the office in my dress shirt and trousers or out to run errands with my jeans and t-shirt. I love the look of the green corduroy!
Could not agree more. I have a belstaff trialmaster panther (take home piece from a shoot, I'm too poor to buy it myself) and a run-of-the-mill cotton corduroy safari jacket and even next to one another they look like they cost the same price. Also, because of its similarity to a shirt, you can have one made well and for little money in places like Thailand and even here in India. We men are given so few opportunities for embellishment, and the buttons are the way sieze one. A cheap safari jacket kitted out with some decent buttons from a craft store (horn and bone) and you'll look like $100k. YOUNG GUYS: always remember, suede is cheaper to make and buy but more expensive to own. If you want that look plus durability at a low price, get a good Corduroy (pinwale).
The version we have with epaulets and a belt is a lot more sporty. You could wear it as you suggest, but I think the non-epaulet versions would look better. Just my opinion!
I mean no disrespect but NO!. The shirt jacket/safari coat, as shown, immediately reminded me of the leisure suit jacket and Nehru jackets that I prayed were lost to the bad style rubbish heap. I hated them then and a redux/update isn't any more appealing. At least the redux versions did not bring back the double knit polyester. I admit to a classic/preppy/formal taste for menswear. By age 25, I owned over 100 ties and knew that there were at least four ways to tie a regular tie as well as bowties. A variety of 2 and 3 piece suits, madras, seersucker, etc. I owned 1 pair of jeans until age 30. I admit my age and profession dictated my attire but, I also recall my father advising me that "they can never ask you to leave for being overdressed".
Loved the last look the most. I think you missed with styling of the Linen shacket, I don't think linen looked good with the shiny and very formal fabric of your navy trousers, they have too much sheen and formality to them to match that herringbone linen well.
Great post. I have a classic Willis&Geiger Hemingway safari shirt/jacket that I wear all the time--usually over a black cotton turtleneck for some reason. It is unusual for me to be so on trend! Love the ones you are producing.
I love my Rust colored shirt jacket but my blazers will always be selected over it, ill never give in to this always casual mentality great if it's for you just never for me. My shirt jackets are reserved for casual events only and I don't mix formalities just not my taste.
I was just thinking about buying a safari jacket very similar to the ones in the link in the description. I'm glad to see that yours are much more affordable than the ones I saw at The Armoury.
OK, now I am feeling older than dirt. We did this in the mid-1960s with workshirts and shirt jackets. I had a shirt-jacket exactly like the kaki in your collection. I did a double-take when I saw it. This look was the step that led to the leisure suit. Hopefully, I'll be dead when those come back.
The safari style looks much better. A lot of the shirt style jackets you see just don't look right. It's also like the collar was a complete afterthought, and they tend to curl
I need your advice. Which colour do you think works best with dark blue jeans/ chinos and light blue Shirts? I like the olive and heringbone shakets. But i don’t know if these colours would look good togethers. Thanks in advance.
I noticed you rocking a JLC Reverso and the Vacheron Patrimony (what an incredible piece!). Do you think the rectangular shape of the JLC makes it unique enough to justify owning multiple traditional dress watches in a collection especially in 2021, where we as a society don't dress up as much, and trends are moving towards sportier pieces such as a Rolex DJ being able to serve as a dress watch?

Hi Brian, I have been a great fan of wearing safari shirt jackets for many, many years. Easy to wear and to give an outfit a chique and casual vibe at the same time.
Great video! I don't own any shackets, yet, but seeing the styling here, will likely be something I'll be adding to my wardrobe eventually. Love look 3 - I could totally see myself styling one that way. Thanks, as always, Brian!
I hate having too many interests because I never have enough money for them all haha. These look great, and I will likely be looking into your shop in the future, Brian. It's just unfortunate for us Canadians as we get nailed with duties. Thanks for another great video.
Interesting video. I wouldn't wear one but I think you are correct.... for a lot of people it will be dresssing up and an entry into nice menswear. I hope they sell well for you. Thumbs up & keep up the good work!
These shackets are so lovely but I think they'd probably suit a more mature audience. Shackets can be made even less formal and paired with just a T shirt jeans and white trainers. Also a personal favourite look of mine is combining shackets with turtlenecks. The materials can be very versatile also, obviously with spring coming up as said corduroy isn't an obvious choice but a lighter colour also helps fit the season
they're so versatile - can really be dressed up or down. outside of the major metropolises, wearing a blazer is seen as formal attire (even if paired with jeans and no tie) so a shirt-jacket is a nice option to look nice without looking too formal.
Shop men's shackets here: hespokestyle.com/product-category/garments/mens-shirt-jackets/

Hi Brian, I have been a great fan of wearing safari shirt jackets for many, many years. Easy to wear and to give an outfit a chique and casual vibe at the same time.
Right on!
Great video! I don't own any shackets, yet, but seeing the styling here, will likely be something I'll be adding to my wardrobe eventually. Love look 3 - I could totally see myself styling one that way. Thanks, as always, Brian!
Awesome! Thanks for the comment, Daniel.
some detective/agent vibes
🧐
Look number 1 all the way for me 👌🏾 Great looking over-shirts
Appreciate that!
All of them are great but I'm especially feeling the gray linen piece. Super nice!!!
I totally agree! Thanks for the comment, Greg!
In the seventies we called these safari jackets
I hate having too many interests because I never have enough money for them all haha.
These look great, and I will likely be looking into your shop in the future, Brian. It's just unfortunate for us Canadians as we get nailed with duties. Thanks for another great video.
Thanks so much. We're looking into that issue and how to help out our international clients.
@@hespokestyle That's exciting to hear! Hope there's a viable solution!
Liking these pieces. The Corduroy is KILLER 🔥🔥
Thanks!
I can never watch you when I'm tryna budget myself man, lmao. You always get me goin on new outfits. Great stuff.
I appreciate that!
Interesting video. I wouldn't wear one but I think you are correct.... for a lot of people it will be dresssing up and an entry into nice menswear. I hope they sell well for you. Thumbs up & keep up the good work!
Definitely reasonably priced, I especially like the corduroy version!
Same here! Thanks, Nathan.
I’ve been wearing shackets for years now.
Bought a plaid one from camping world.
Even bought a few more for my youngins for Christmas.
Is it better to wear the shirt jacket with the collar down or popped up like Brian has it?
Up to you but I like popping the collar. Gives it more of an outerwear appearance to me.
really love this. good presentation brian. the herringbone is cool
Thanks so much!
I love this outfit ideas
Compton meets San Francisco
They look great
they're so versatile - can really be dressed up or down. outside of the major metropolises, wearing a blazer is seen as formal attire (even if paired with jeans and no tie) so a shirt-jacket is a nice option to look nice without looking too formal.
I bought the shirt jacket for my boyfriend before I found your video. Omg i am so happy that you like it too.
Yeah, the Shacket is very versatile. I have a Navy one
Nice! From where?
@@hespokestyle AOS Big and Tall
How's the pricing compare>
@@hespokestyle Very different but the quality is probably much better with your company. It was sizing for me. But you do have made to measure
