took your advice on buying an overcoat and topcoat and the feedback has been amazing. I have been getting a ton of compliments from people from colleagues, family and friends who feel like it really suits me. Thank you for your wisdom and advice!
I like the old background better - much more inviting. I feel like I'm at a job interview with you behind the desk sitting on a leather chair with no light coming in.
I agree with all the choices. They are timeless and each works for multiple occasions from 20-60 yo. Guys over 40’s, especially over 50’s, should consider a nice suede jacket, or even sport coat, in dark neutral color that can go over a knit piece from morning to nice dinner. The two caveats are make sure you condition and weather/water proof your leathers/suedes, and a decent suede brush. The other is the care of waxed jackets. They are tough and will develop a nice broken-in look, but they require very specific maintenance or will be ruined. Entertaining and informative as always!
I love my ST. JOHN'S BAY winter coat & Columbia jacket. The ST JOHN'S hold up very well. I saved at least $60. buying it at the end of the winter season. ( Kohls sale) It was originally over $160. brand new. I lucked out with my size still being in stock. I also have a black Charhart type fall/winter jacket that I use to and from work. It keeps my nicer one's from getting worn out or ripped.
A few years ago I bought myself a brown, military-style leather jacket. It fits great and made of high-quality leather. I get compliments all the time on how great it looks on me.
I have an Aussie duster, a vintage leather jacket, another beat Perfecto jacket. If it's just a little cool, an awesome vintage velour smoking jacket. I'd definitely get something with character. The vintage makes are just made so well and look awesome.
Jacket of choice for me is bomber for sure. Live in socal so it doesn't really get that cold. When it is a little bit more chilly I throw a hoodie under my bomber. Can also do the same under a top coat.
Wow you are actually amazing this was an insanely helpful video. I was like I might try this one girl I’ve seen before and now I know why I always go to your videos!!
I love everything on the list , just ordered a matt finish black leather roadter from Thursday boots as my cafe racer was stolen in the winter Great advice as always 👍
Something outside the box: I took a cheap solid color hoodie put it inside 1 size larger than I wear, a black BDU shirt (It's the old army shirts of time frame of the 80's but instead of camo its solid black shirt) I keep the 2nd to the bottom button buttoned as well as the next one up. This makes a very nice, layered look and you make the hoodie like a green or grey or even a cranberry red for a color splash then you got your shirt under neath as an additional layer and color splash. I'm using the hoodie as insulation and the military shirt gives a very masculine look to it. I've had several girls point out what I'm wearing to their guys wanting them to wear something like that. This is GREAT for the Fall and Spring.
The the bomber jacket was created by the U.S Army during WW1 way before the 50’s. I think it probably became popular as fashion in Europe in the 50’s? Awesome tips though and this is great advice👍🏼
Harrington Style or similar styles that have the top pockets which is a must for me,and deep hand pockets. That Dark Green one is epic and the hardware makes it pop 👌.Suede is good for less harsh weather and easier to move around in.I have never owned a wax jacket I'll check into those.I am newer to the channel and had no idea you are from CTown very cool 😎👍.
I really like top coats, a bit longer and heavier compared to flimsy jackets that only goes to the waist, I have those too but tend to not wear them because they flop around too much in windy Sweden and I can't really close it because its super tight and feels weird after working out every day since covid haha.
They are not optimal while riding a bike or sitting in public transportation. Most people dont know how to dressup or down with the jacket and you can tell if its cheaply made
If you buy a field jacket (a black M65 ideally) their long enough to cover your butt to keep tou warm, and they hafe a waistline drawstring around the waist so it won't flop around, even if you wear it open in the wind.
@@CourtneyRyan Hi Courtney thinking of buying a black leather bomber jacket. Always wanted one in my 40s but never got around to buying one. Now in my 50's do you think it is still a good idea to buy a leather jacket as a person in their 50's or in other words is a leather jacket appropriate for a man in his 50's. Thanks
Living in Houston where it is hot and humid, I recommend an All Saints lambskin jacket for someone in a similar environment. It is lightweight for a leather jacket which increases the opportunities to wear it.
Totally love jackets...also coats like columbia or canada goose come in handy, especially in cold weather...I've never owned a north face, but i heard they are good...I like baseball jackets and letterman style jackets...but any leather coat is fine....
A nice leather jacket always turns heads. Everyone should invest in a nice one. Fitted. Armani styled and/or colored are my favs. A classic Schott is the best!
Now we're talking. I'm very excited to see you doing mens fall fashion videos. I'm a big fan of the American Eagle jackets that come with the hoodie part attached to them. They come in different colors too. My favorite is blue. I'm also a big fan of leather jackets. I have a Guess brand black jacket that's my go to; but i plan on getting the ones you mentioned here. Although it doesn't it get that cold here in Louisiana; i do wanna get a new cardigan jacket. Anyways thanks for your time today. Be blessed Courtney 😊🙌🧡☕
@@craigmartin122 well these jackets was suggestions and of course you aren't required to use them. I think they fit the cold temperatures that fall and winter can bring. I just checked my closet and I own 10 jackets: a bomber jackets, a leather jacket, a woolen top coat, a light trenchcoat, a softshell jacket, a raincoat, a lightweight down jacket, a heavier waterproof down jacket and two winter jackets for snow conditions and very low temperatures.
Question should overcoats have more a fitted design in the middle so it forms more to your shape or should they be just going up and down? Maybe I'm crazy but I just feel like the ones that don't conform to your shape may you look more box like.
Do you have any suggestions or guidelines about which skin tones tend to go best with certain colors? This could also go for any type of clothes. Also, what do you think about guys 40 and over wearing leather jackets? Should we stick with suede or do you think we can wear leather jackets and not look like we’re trying too hard. I’m assume the style of the jacket makes a difference?
I realize this is almost a year old but I figured I'd post it for anyone wondering the same thing. All 3 women commented on how good he looked and were ribbing me for not dressing as well as that older man.
