That was a very informative demonstration with C sharp when the the head joint is all the way pushed in. I didn’t realize that head joint position specifically affected it so much!
Great tips and things to remember, especially as a future band teacher:) I'll make sure I teach my flute players how to align their head joint and the right amount to pull in / out! Thanks for the great video!
You made this video as just the right time! I was having some intonation issues and I was thrilled to have some trustworthy information on how to adjust the cork.
I also have students I am teaching online right now, and it's hard to not be there with them! But I think it's a great idea to teach students these things to make them more self-reliant with their flutes and flute playing.
This was so timely! I recently took my flute in for repairs, and its intonation feels so different now. I've been having an intonation/headjoint placement crisis because of that... but this video helped to clarify and solve a lot of my worries :)
On a more serious note, though, I find it very insightful to realize that professional flute players tend to just use a *lot* more air with a given embouchure than high-school flute players do. I have been working for the past week or so on trying to have a more resonant, open sound, and that is a key ingredient. I am glad to hear the headjoint advice as a way to complement that growth!
I’ve actually never known the ins and outs of how the cork works! I still don’t want to mess with it, but it’s good to know 👍🏻 Also yay Burkart flutes! 👏🏻👏🏻
this is so interesting! I am so glad I learned this so that I am more informed about the cork. It's so interesting that they made a way to check the cork placment!
I never knew how drastically the headjoint placement affected the intrinsic scale of the flute! How do you recommend finding the right distance to pull out for your own flute?

Longer headjoint = longer attack range to fend off bears :D

I love all of these videos! I really love the way to check your lip placement, I've never done that before and I'm excited to try it!
