Thanks for the nice comment about my video. I have no idea what a dealership would charge to change a key fob battery but it is obviously a LOT cheaper to change the battery yourself. I am glad the video helped you to change the battery and save some money 👍
I echo everyone else's comments Thanks 😊 couldnt have done without your tutorial. And this is already the second time i had to change the battery! Watched ot first time and again now
I found it to be very informative and helpful. It saves me a great deal of money as opposed to bringing my Toyota keys to the garage. Thank you very much!
Excellent video, thank you. I found the battery difficult to remove using fingers. So, I pushed down on the battery edge with the small screw driver instead. The battery popped out immediately. You can press a little more firmly in exactly the right place with a screw driver than is possible with a finger. Hope that helps.
Thanks for the comment. I am glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the useful tip to get the battery out.... this is the most fiddly part of the process and your tip sounds easier than the way I did it with my fingers!
Thanks for the comment and I am glad the video was helpful. You have obviously got the right technique. I wish the battery had popped straight out for me!!!
I didn't touch the orange rubber seal at all. I think it is important that you leave the rubber seal in place to ensure that your key fob is still water resistant.
thanks a lot i managed thanks to your video to change the battery for i am no handywoman and since the death of my husband any technical stuff is chinese to me
Great video but "quite fiddly" to remove actual battery is a gross understatement! 😖I tried and failed countless times as it's nigh on impossible with cold and/or dry hands and without any tools. In the end the best trick I can suggest is a small screwdriver to keep the battery raised and a large blob of blu-tac to stick&drag the battery out. Pretty dismal user experience and I would have expected much better from Toyota.
I agree getting the old battery out is the most challenging part of changing the battery. Key fobs are accidentally dropped and generally have quite a tough life so I suspect Toyota have to design the key fob so that the battery will not get accidentally bumped out of the electrical contacts so that the key fob stops working ... and making the battery very secure means that it is very difficult to get the battery out to change it. But as you say there must be a better way to design the key fob and keep the battery secure but still allow the battery to be changed easily ... even if it means that a small screwdriver is required.
I don't think you can change the number ... the number next to the thumbs up is a count of the number of people who have clicked the thumbs up.... but thanks for trying 😀
It is such a stupid design of a battery holder. I hate it when engineers and designers especially feel the need to reinvent a perfectly working wheel.... it's like it always becomes oblong or oval haha :P I used the key to get under the battery to lift it up a bit, got under it and it got loose... somehow :D Thanks for the info :D
I tend to agree with you ... but in Toyota's defence I think the battery needs to be fitted very securely in the fob because key fobs get dropped regularly sometimes onto hard surfaces. The last thing you want is for the key fob to stop working because the battery has moved slightly and is no longer making a good electrical contact. But I do agree good design would make it easier to get the battery out ... while still keeping the battery secure when dropped.
I tapped it slightly against the table and the battery popped right out😊
Thanks for the tip. I have pinned your comment to the top of the comments so that other people will see your tip. Thanks 👍

Very good. Can you just clarify if you left the (orange) rubber seal in (or put it back in), or left it out?
I didn't touch the orange rubber seal at all. I think it is important that you leave the rubber seal in place to ensure that your key fob is still water resistant.
