Hi Rusty, it's been awhile, but you picked a winner. I remember when the neighborhood show offs owned these sprinklers. Only the wealthy could afford the underground systems, so this was middle class wealth display. My Mother used to make me go out every 10 minutes to move the sprinklers, and I used to bug her to get the tractor. Well done, and a Merry Christmas to you and your family. 🎄🎁
Rusty, GREAT paint scheme and VERY patriotic. Way better than the original. Your work is always top notch and you should be very proud of your skills. Please, keep 'em coming. As always, looking forward to your next restoration.
You didn’t realise you had sprayed the lens until you edited the video and I didn’t realise you had sprayed the lens until you mentioned it. They didn’t sell the tractor type design like yours in Australia. Great restoration job though mate. Really enjoyed it.
I grew up in Peoria, Illinois, and LR Nelson & family were our next door neighbors. Their sprinkler company was eventually sold to Fiskars and Nelson manufacturing is now in China. On EBay I bought a Nelson Rain Train traveling sprinkler Series D 49073. I understood that if the Nelson Rain Train had METAL rear wheels that its gears and body would be metal not the plastic gears in current model 1865 that frequently strip if the sprinkler hits an obstruction and cannot move. Working on this D 49073sprinkler I found that the body is actually plastic not metal, the gears are black and plastic and the body of the sprinkler had a hidden bag of brown sand to increase its weight! Also there is no auto shut-off. I'll continue to refurb this D49073 sprinkler but am wondering if your model had metal gears, a metal body and sand for weight. Do you have your model # ? I enjoyed your UA-cam...Great Restoration!
Rusty i have own one of these but it's much newer. My wife work's for Bosch and they brought out Nelson and Bosch was giving these away. Will you do a video on how to take old decals and make new ones with Photoshop? As always great job...
@@RustyShepherd k, but the ones I knew didn't have the spikey front wheel. the front part was smaller too. I don't know what brand they were. They were all metal, including the gears inside. I think this one is newer than what I remember.
Amazing. Saw this vid when it first came out. Very nice. Dont know if you would consider doing mine, on commission, the same way? If so, reply and an approximate cost and I will send it along. Obviously, Id handle S&H. Would appreciate one of your restorations. Thx
Coolest lawn sprinkler ever!
white owl Thank you!
I love this. You should buy a ton of these, keep doing this and then sell them to make profit! I would sure buy one!
Thanks! I still have this one. It’s very heavy. Shipping would be expensive.

This old water tractor was made back when they were still making them in metal. Nice paint.

The gears are plastic. The body is metal, very heavy. There wasn’t a weight bag in it though. Thanks for watching my work!

Do you know where to find the drive fitting (black color with large threads) inside the transmission?
I don’t. These things are old. I don’t know if spare parts are even available.
Like from Brazil.

Hi Steve. I'll see if i can do something like that. RS
Nice sir something different
That's different than the ones I remember. the ones I remember were similar, but the front wheel was just round and made to follow the hose.
toot tall This is designed to follow the hose as well. It’s a pretty neat design. The front wheel rides on the hose.

Superbe 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I'm guessing it's relic from the time when things were Made in the U.S.A.
I noticed you needed rubber bands for it to work right ??
Bill Rubber bands? You lost me on that. There aren’t any rubber bands on the sprinkler.

What’s with the stars
Oh say does that star spangled sprinkler yet spray
Over the lawn that is green
And the home of the brave
Muito top👋👋👋👋🇧🇷
Boa a customização, mas prefiro o originalidade em uma restauração!😔
Why can't things just be restored to original colors?
