  • If you thought you were a Veep fan you just might question that after meeting this super fan: Stephen Colbert! To say Stephen is obsessed with VEEP is an understatement. He references and quotes the show better than the two guys that were on the show! Life imitates art as Stephen reflects on his time as a political commentator while comparing the “larger than life” characters on the show to real-life politicians. It’s a complete geek-fest as Matt and Tim test Stephen on his Veep trivia and finally, Stephen weighs in on the age old debate: Is Mike McLintock or Amy Brookheimer worse at their job?

"I'll never not be grateful for the work you all did (with Veep)" Stephen Colbert. Yes I feel the same!

To answer Mr Colbert, this scatter brained line of topics is very much a form of entertainment.

I also watch Veep multiple times a week - I can't believe I share this quirk with Stephen Colbert. The writing, the cast are just superb. It is as Stephen says, a complete universe. There is so much to it -- another thing that adds depth is the physical acting (eg, when Mike is running through bad firefighter jokes with Selina and does a double take when unbeknownst to him she has jumped out of her chair and is screaming at him from another direction). Current favorite episodes: Clovis, Helsinki, and Special Relationship.

Special Relationship is incredible. Each [Iannucci] season just keeps getting better.

I thought I was the only weirdo superfan who still watches some Veep every day. Stephen Colbert is my other comedy idol, so I'm nerding out! And there was a Reagan reference - when she said to Tom James in season 7 episode 4 "Keep talking like Reagan and I'll work it like Nancy."

The best joke and the longest payoff is Mike in the first episode saying "Tom Hanks could die" then in the last episode, while talking about the death of Selina, Mike announces Tom Hanks dies right as the show ends. My god, how brilliant.

I've just found your podcast this week and I'm hooked already. I've been a constant re-watcher of VEEP for years and, while I don't have the memory for lines like Stephen Colbert does, I am also VEEP's #1 fan. I think it was the most genius show ever created.

This is so damn awesome. This podcast needs a much bigger audience! These are great! I binged the show last month in one month and I can't stop talking about it to others. It's one of the greatest satirical series ever made. And the finale is A+! Love it is much thx Matt and VeeP Tim!

I too feel Veep is my happy place and I watch it over and over and over! I tell myself I will stop watching when it stops making me laugh! I am still discovering little moments. Oh, and a Reagan reference: Ben to Selina said something like, "Did you ever hear of the rumor Reagan hired Hinkley so he could take a week off".

Veep vs. real timeline: At one point Selina says “Keep talking like Reagan and I’ll work it like Nancy.” So Reagan exists, but it’s possible he doesn’t become president? There might be another Reagan reference.

So glad to see Stephen on the show: I've been a fan for ages, and he and his wife Evie do so much good in their hometown which is right next to mine (also it was mine from about 2011-2022)! Y'all are catering perfectly to your target audience (me).
