Been at the game since literally 92... RIP BIG... Cute does such dope work. Not because it's perfect but because you always know it's Cute and that is the essence of Graf. You've become a great inspiration watching, Mate. Always so interested learning how others master their craft. Big up as always from the Northeast USA.

Excellent foundation for a fill that'll make you look like a pro in no time.
There are three things you absolutely must do:
    1. Practice. And practice. And more practice.
    Practice doesn't make perfect.
    Perfect practice makes perfect.
    2. Look at A LOT of graffiti. Everything you can find. Study the artists that really grab you and use their pieces to give you a leg up on your own work. Use the same color pallettes/color ways and try to replicate their results.
    3. PRACTICE! ;)
No lie. It'll just start making sense when you've done it over and over.
This will lend to you finding your own styles and fills.
Really take your time, focus, and you'll be off to the races.
    PLAY IT BY EAR:
This is a term that musicians use. You step into a situation with others and you don't know where the tune is going. You listen and adapt.
You have to improvise and just do your best to keep up. Just see what happens and be ready to adapt to a different outcome, everytime.
    There is no plan.
So, you play it by ear.
Best of luck to everyone who's just coming up. Don't be afraid to fail.
If you learn something, it's a lesson.
Keep at it, and make a mess!!!
Big ups CUTE for giving everyone a leg up with a simple tutorial that will make them more confident moving forward with their art.
Lastly, if you don't have a copy of the coloring book, grab one quickly!
This book is gold and shouldn't be missed.
So many iconic pieces from the man himself.
I look at mine for inspiration on a daily basis.
    Best.

Used to paint with HUSH up in Herts. Not so much nowadays but every so often I get down over in Essex with NEYEC and IZER. Commissioned work took over.

This was amazing! Quick question why the style file markers and not ohuhu or copic? I’m always curious because, I don’t know which ones I wanna rock with. Also how do you get your black outline so clean. I have problem with that part and want to improve. Also what black outline pens do you recommend so nothing bleeds when you put color over it?

    • @CUTEMKUltras
      @CUTEMKUltras  5 місяців тому +2

I sort of ended up with Stylefile by accident because a graf shop that I used carried that stock. Having used them a lot over the years I know how they blend and their colours, so I'm comfortable now. Love Copics but replacing the ink all the time would cost me a fortune. I burn through a lot of ink.
Outlining pens depends on what colours you use. I use Staedtler fineliners because the ink isn't solvent based so it doesn't run when alcohol based markers go over the top of it.

I use Ohuhu for ALMOST everything.
If it's a commission piece I might go with a more expensive marker.
But, at the price point of Ohuhu you have got a real winner. They have every color you might need.
With any markers, your gonna want to make a swatch of each color because the caps almost never match the true color.
Copic markers are excellent. But, they are very expensive and you really need to have a good foundation of using alcohol/spirit markers first.
I love Stylefile because of their range of colors and a middle price point.
To say it again, if your just starting out, get Ohuhu. They never disappoint. And, some of the color names will make you laugh your ass off. Example " Further Color of Skin". Yes, that's an actual color. ;)
If you can't afford alcohol markers, or if you want to save the opposing page, grab some colored pencils and get busy. Start light. You can always make it darker.
Outlines. Outlines should be last. Or, at least towards the end.
Grab a Posca pm-1 and it'll cover up any color that may have bled over. It's kinda the point of an outline. Neaten everything up a bit.
Or, just avoid the outline you've already laid down.
      Take your time.
An easy but of practice is to just draw a bunch of squares. Practice your fill in those. And, keep practicing. One day it'll just make sense. I guarantee it.
Good luck, and make a mess!

I currently use Stylefile but they've been discontinued, but if you want the best pens go for Copics. Very expensive though. Cheaper ones are Ohuhus.

I use posca for detail and outline for piece then use cheap markers filling sometimes add detail on letters doesn’t come as good as yours so I’m looking tip or different ways to improve thanks advance

I'd use any colour but with a paint marker instead of an alcohol based marker. That way there's no bleed through.
