    Wow. I know it sounds similar because both the YM2612 and YMF262 are made by Yamaha, but I'm not sure which system used the YMF262

      It was used in ISA sound cards, including the Sound Blaster Pro 2.0, Sound Blaster 16 ASP and AWE family.

      1990s PC's, It was for soundcards as CPU's at the time were not powerful enough to render the game, Physics, Graphics and music at once so a sound card was used to take off pressure from the CPU and base PC's only had a beeper for sound
