Kid rooms: walls use neutral colors and accessorize in the frozen colors/theme. Kids change their minds so fast. Swapping pillows, wall decor is much easier than painting etc.
I respectfully disagree I got to pick out my room and a kid and I picked purple walls with purple carpet and flower boarder I wanted to change it after turning (17?) and gave up on the idea because I was told no.
I’ve been following since the beginning and dont know how you don’t have millions of followers.
Curtains on all the windows would REALLY help fill the walls. You don’t have to keep them closed, but aesthetically, they really make a house a home! IKEA has some awesome curtains! Gray would look wonderful!
Also I would absolutely give her her own room so that she doesn’t feel like the new baby is taking her place. Instead make it a fun thing that instead of her having to move downstairs, she GETS to move downstairs to her new big girl room and she gets to decorate it how she wants :)
she's too young to be moved to the basement. so is George. there's going to be big changes with these children as it is, no need to add to it by isolating her.

For the window well you could even have James turn it into her “fairy garden” so she can look for fairies out of the window
Or a koi pond would be cool, granted it would have to be sealed and no emergency exit
I love this idea, could be super cute.
For the window well, they sell them on Amazon I think they’re called privacy window decals and they blur out the view and you can get ones that make a pretty rainbowy reflection in the bedroom!

If you want to keep a 'guest' room, you could give James a full size bed. When guests, especially couples, come over they can use it and James could have a sleepover in her siblings rooms! Full size beds are also fun for snuggling and reading at night!
My mini van is the best thing to happen to me! I i thought I would feel so old but I love it! Has all the great features! 30 in feb and a mini van driver and proud lol
I was so against a mini van. But I've had one now for 2 years and I'm never going back. I love it! Having the full open doors to get kids in and out and not having to worry about kids swinging doors open and hitting cars next to us. And the trunk is amazing. It's just the best
I’d highly recommend getting rugs for all the rooms, they would add texture and warm up the house so much! Then add curtains to give the walls some weight.
You guys are seriously some of the best parents around! I love all the attention you give to each of your kids! It is inspiring to see!
When my son was young I did his room in a surfer/beach theme. On the wall by the window I found some wallpaper with waves in it. We then painted the window well blue and put some beach rock and shells (that we had collected from the beach) in it.
Loved the tour. I’m so excited for all the new changes.

You guys should do “accent walls” This way you can introduce color and the rooms will feel less sterile...
I agree with this! Your house feels sterile because of the consistent white on white. From a girl who LOVES white....mix it up. Honestly pick a neutral tone and run with it. It looks like you have black hardware so the possibilities are endless. Personally, I love gray.
Not every wall needs something. I totally understand this urge. Like you said, consider putting curtains on the insides of your windows (a not super expensive upgrade). This will break up the white walls with white light and white blinds thing. It’ll also give it a personal feel.
Also, fake trees my dear. I’m surprised I’ve kept my kid alive this long. Fake. Trees. They do wonders for the soul.
Can you do a vlog that’s maybe just even a screen recording/voiceover situation where you show my your style. The kind of “this is what I like” vibe kinda thing so I can see?

I’m a college student who drives a minivan. I would not trade it for the world! It is a family car that I got when I started driving. My mom to this day talks about how comfortable the car is and how no one feels overcrowded
When you have a designated shelf space for every item in your pantry always helps with organization. I like using clear containers with labels.
I really enjoyed how close my son and daughter got when they shared a room for a few years when they were little. They both look back on it and say they enjoyed it as well. Plus, with the new baby needing a little more attention, they will have each other. Then the new baby and James can share a room later if that works better
Loved my mini vans!!!!! It was so great for strollers, extra stuff we needed to carry, and when we traveled! You'll love it truthfully!

Been watching since the pregnancy test Target run and love watching you guys, my entire family loves watching y'all!! Growing up with an older sister we shared rooms and I always loved it, it was kinda like we had sleepovers every night we would talk, do each others hair and makeup, I can definitely see James and her baby doing the same..☺☺

Have you thought about painting the kids rooms? I think James should have her own room and before the new baby comes so she doesn’t feel she gave up anything. I see white gauzy curtains with the big holes on top in your dining area. Curtains soften the hollow sterile sound/feel. I also think a painted accent wall or some very large art would help the family room. In your bedroom, bedside lamps to give some weight to the bed. Is there space for a ladder bookcase for photos and momentous? And could you use an upright chest (IKEA Hemnes)? FYI I am a home stager whose job it is to make every home look like a magazine photo. I’ve followed you since James was born.

We just had baby three and we got a Pacifica mini van. I’m not even 30 yet and I have a mom van. I thought it would really bother me, but MY GOSH THE ROOM! There is so much room it’s glorious. I honestly cannot imagine doing three kids without it. The two big kids are in back. We stow one of the seats and baby is in the middle seats. With one of the seats stowed you don’t have to climb through seats to buckle the kids up. Just so much room!

I’ve had 3 different SUV’s and just bought a van (Pacifica) and I will never go back to an suv!!! We have 3 kids and it’s the best decision I’ve made!!!
The stow and go seating is a GAME CHANGER! Put one of the bucket seats down and you have huge space for getting to all of the littles or groceries or car picnics!

Switching to a van was the best choice ever. Did it with baby #2 and it makes life so much easier! Do it!
Get a minivan. You won’t regret it. I was a mom who never wanted one until I had my 3rd child and ran out of room in our SUV. The minivan was a lifesaver. Having the sliding doors were so convenient and helpful. Not only was it easier to get the kids in and out, but it saved us from door dinging other vehicles.
Ive been watching since you guys made the 4th of july shirts (i was searching for a diy video so thanks!) i also went back to the beginning and watched them through. I love watching your family and listening to Taking Sides. I have always loved your house! I would say google types of houses style. And look through them and see which makes you happiest. I have a feeling Ashley will like modern country. Once you see options itll help you realize what you like. Congrats on baby girl!

Cabinets are a lot easier than you think! It’s the only project we did in our house. 😂 I wouldn’t tackle kitchen cabinets. But the laundry room ones were easy

Sliding doors are the AMAZING!!! We have a 2018 Honda Odyssey and the seats are on sliders so it makes it super easy for kids to get in and out!

I think the white paint in the whole house makes for a less homey feel. There are so many beautiful paint colors available.
Had the same conundrum about the car as you when we went from 3 to 4 kiddos. Sometimes I miss my tank of a Ford Explorer but I do not regret my Honda Odyssey at all! So easy to get the kids in and out, the second row chairs slide, tv for entertainment. Best switch ever. Also, vans are so much cuter these days

On the van thing- I am well past that stage, but it was the best move ever! I had to suck up my pride, but it was way to drive, so convenient, and always meant you could have friends in the car. We actually had two and I was a bit sad when we no longer needed one/ I got over that pretty quickly.

Great house! I would have the baby room also serve as the guest room upstairs. The baby won’t need much space and great to have the extra bed Upstairs for those rough nights. Get an area rug for the living room - it will make a huge difference. Maybe some wallpaper or different color paint to add warmth. Have fun decorating! You can do a lot without spending big bucks.

You can create a guest space in one of the kid's rooms or in the downstairs area for whenever guests come. You have great ideas Ash! Just feel good about it and do it! 😉🥰

Got a mini van this past October. We only have two kids, age 6 and 9 and it has made things so much easier (sliding doors!) Plus the kids love the entertainment system!

Minivans are amazing! I only have one kid but it really makes everything my so easy! I have to automatic doors so I can open her door and have her get in while I’m locking up the house. And the room is amazing! I could fit like 30 dogs in my van. Love you guys!
I’ve been watching every day since George was about 2.5.... I love watching you all. Ashley inspires me so much with the at home learning that she does. She gave me great ideas that I used when I was a preschool teacher and use with my own children. I have plans to make the banana cake you have on your food blog.

My brother and I are a little less than 2 years apart and we shared a room for a bit when we were about George and James’ age. We were super close and it was fun, so I’d say give it a shot, at least for a bit! That way you’ll still have a guest room in the early days of when baby 3 is here. You know you’ll probably have lots of visitors and need it! 😁

I seriously love my minivan so much and the kids do too! We have a 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan. So much space and captain seats easy Car seat installation and all of the doors opening and closing at the touch of a button is my kids favorite part
To easily add colour change up your little things to coloured things, the clips or pegs you use for the art, coloured baskets for the books, coloured stationary and then add a small colourful rug near a reading nook. That way you can add that pop of colour, change the colour if you wish without changing all the major furnishings.

I’ve been watching since George was a tiny little baby! Cant really remember how far back that is lol but definitely before James.
If you want to make things less sterile without hanging anything or making anything too crazy, I’d suggest painting the walls in the living room area “greige”. It will break it up and make it more cozy. My house is all grey wood, greige walls and white cabinets and it’s super cozy.
I heard the new Jeep Grand Cherokee will have a third row, so if you don’t want to have a mini van, maybe consider one of them! Also great in the snow and mountain trecking!

Love love love my mini van. I haven't regretted it once since buying it 5 years ago.
Mini van life has changed me. 1st I feel like it’s an automatic, “hey there are kids in that car” which to me translates, “you need to be extra careful around this car”. 2nd I don’t feel older just more powerful. We have a Honda Odyssey and the magic slide seats are a game changer. We currently have 2 rf car seats, 1 96lbs dog, 1 10lb cat, three birds. Just moved across the country with everyone and the nugget on board. It was fantastic.
There’s these easy removable wallpaper that you could always put up as an accent wall in the kids room! They’re like giant wall decals ! They leave no sticky residue and don’t peel the paint too there’s a ton of cute options I’ve seen on wayfair / Pinterest and even some at target!
We LOVE our mini van. Kid # 4 coming in april so we had to make the move to something bigger. We have a Chrysler Pacifica and love love love it! So do the kids! Do it!
We got a ford transit connect passenger wagon after baby #2. Literally best decision I've ever made. 10/10 recommended. Love you guys! Congrats again on baby girl 😍

My aunt and uncle had a window well in my cousins bedroom that they turned into an aquarium! He LOVED it, I was always so jealous and it felt like his room was underwater!!!!!
You could also turn it into a mini landscape so she could look out the window and maybe see something frozen related with fake snow / stone on the bottom with some mini fake trees to create a forest landscape instead of the corrugated metal! 💜
