I was there that night and never in my life will I forget this moment.
Excellent- Glen looked liked it was his birthday and xmas day all in one.
Yeah he looked like he really loved it. :)
There is an Italian saying that comes to mind when describing Bruce. He is "di cuore," which means "of the heart." He overwhelms me at every turn. Thanks for sharing this...
You couldn't punch that grin off Glen's face
My favourite UA-cam music clip ever...any doubts about the utterly unequalled greatness of Bruce Springsteen can forever be dispelled after one watch of this
Thanks, Johnny :-)
Almost 10 years on and am still telling anyone who will listen about this gig. It was such a magical afternoon, evening (and late night) in Kilkenny. Roll on Bruce coming back in Dublin next month.
I was there for this..it was my musical highlight of a lifetime..Irelands answer to Bruce getting the good nod from Bruce himself...magic memory:) i treasure it L)
+Wooden Ideas was there, have never forgotten the night or more so this magic few minutes of my life
Was there amazing, Glen and damo like kids at Christmas playing with the boss
I was there too....hard to understand how a night can turn into something so meanfull for all of us standing there. All made that easy and tender by both man.God Bless them!!!
Whatever you do in your life...do it with the zest and passion and love that Bruce and Glen are jamming together in this...!!!
If these two guitars had odometers on them like automobiles, they would both be pushing the million-mile mark. Glen looks like he knocked some bloke over the head with his.
Was there on the night and can’t thank Dan enough for preserving this precious memory. Brought back the sheer joy of being in the moment with music xx
The Boss, Bruce, Springsteen, and the Estreet Band just racks my soul to the core. That passion! HOW can anyone sing like that for DECADES....? Put everything he has into all of his songs? Each and EVERY TIME!!??!!
That was so beautiful, I just loved it.
Simply amazing! Eddie Vedder and Glen also do a great version live....but this is even better :)
The sax solo never fails to rip my heart out this has been one of my favorites since I saw the river tour in 1980 ! I am so blessed to have had Bruce in my life through the years I love you Bruce !Always will !
i totally agree
It's utterly fantastic being able to say I saw this live at 12, best day of me life
ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PERFORMANCE !! SO BEAUTIFUL !! U can tell that Glen really has a great admiration for Bruce Springsteen. He was SO HAPPY to be performing that song on stage with him. HE ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT !! Bruce even let him add in his own style there at the end. It was an AWESOME & GREAT performance - and I LOVED IT !! : )
I saw Bruce in 2013, amazing, so I can imagine how good it would have been to be there, such a classic song and Glen Hansard is clearly a genius.
Mikey, right back at you - a magical time, an extraordinary weekend, and an unforgettable experience. What a way to finish the European tour! So glad you and Ward were there to share it with. This will always be 'your song', and here's to great friendships. Cheers!
The respect that Nils shows to Jake is incredibly touching.
Glen Hansard looks giddy!
Thanks so much Dan for sharing this. Thanks to Bruce for a magical weekend in July 2013 in my home town of Kilkenny....Pure magic!!!!
Kilkenny 💚
1 year ago today. Knew I was witnessing something very special at the time.
Doesn't get much better than this in your hometown on a summer's night.... great memories.
Please publish a studio recording version version of this. Deadly lads!
Fun, Joy, Excellence! Great song, great concert, thanks for posting it. Glen has a new disc out with a cover of Drive All Night on it with Eddie Vedder that is amazing, too.
Of course, Bruce and Glen are both on top of their games here, but don't overlook that saxophone blast by Jake Clemmons at the 3:45 mark.
This is so damn good. Can't get enough of it. Thank you for sharing it with us. xxx
this is absolutely magic ... Hansard is soo proud.
God that is so emotional. What a special day weekend song. Glen you did Bruce proud
This is awesome. Also @ the guy who's seen Springsteen 175+ times, I'm gonna reference that the next time someone gets on me for having seen my favourite band 12 times. Lol
Edit - just realized it's Max Weinberg on drums haha, I knew he's part of the E Street Band but never seen him actually play with them, I grew up watching him on Conan :P
Surprising. Glen Hansard sings this song better and with more passion than Bruce, although Springsteen is great, too. Like somebody else noticed, Hansard appears to be the happiest man on the planet.
a great musician in his own right , but Glen Hansard must be feeling incredibly proud up there with Bruce . Great song , great night . Springsteen is gods gift to music
I have just witnessed the greatest performance in the history of rock n roll. Well., not really, but you know what I mean.
from 2:06 to 2:14, there is the great who lets the mic to the humble. the humble is approaching to the microphone with the respect full of emotion, and he is looking at the big, like a son to a beloved father. 3:46: here is Jake, who is playing without substituting anyone, but knowing to leave his own trace into the song. awesome. thanks for posting it...
not being a huge Bruce fan, but a massive Glen/Grames fan, i only got my tickets for this gig as Damien Dempsey Glen and the Frames were there and on the slim chance that this would happen, seen Glen do this so many times in his shows. over the moon he got to share the stage with Bruce. and as for Bruce, amazing show from start to finish! Bruce fans are the best in the world! Glens face at 7 mins in says it all.
for so many reasons this is so beautiful, so many reasons
Glen just can't help putting Van in there.
+arfer so what??
Yes, nice touch :-)
arfer he was actually told he could play around a bit and took that moment. Bruce loves van too
the finest piece of music I've heard in a long time
Stevie looks over at 7:25 like "The f**k did he just say? "
One of the most beautiful things I've ever heard! The greatest Song the Boss ever Made!
not quite
@@mattybeattie5273 to each their own.
@@michaelfugate2404 But very close :)
New Jersey and Dublin, what a duo!
This is the greatest. Other older bands sometimes can make you remember what it was like, but somehow Springsteen and the E Street Band are still able to make you FEEL what it was like, to make it feel like then and now are not two separate moments in time but rather two connected moments. And, bravo to Hansard - what a voice. More than holds his own.
The smile at 7mins and the really tentative way he steps up to the mic at 2:10 are two of the reasons I love him so much! What an amazing performance :)
Most of todays artists would see Glen as a threat, not Bruce, just love the way he lets him have his moment, thanks again Dan, this is so so good
Ever since Glen was announced for the WB KK weekend bill I'd been praying that he would get the chance to do that song with Bruce; That song that night was one of the greatest things I've witnessed in all the shows Bruce, Frames or otherwise) over the years!! I was so emo myself watching it that I could only film part of it;
Thanks Dan Was at concert and although not a big Glen Hansard fan - he pulled it off and it was the highlight of a magical evening. The quality of the video is excellent. Thanks again
Ma come fa? GRANDE, sempre e comunque...
Thank you so much. Nearly 100,000,,,wow .What a special special night. Thanks for your dedication. This is one special song for me. Thanks for the memories and friendship Dan
Sorry I'm new to this lark ! Bruce, Glen, Max, Steven, Jake - all in one frame - what breathtaking talent. I was fortunate to be there and it was truly amazing. Can't thank you enough for capturing this precious gem x
Just terrific, thanks so much for posting. Stuck here in Montana, wanted terribly to be at that show. Josh Ritter, Hansard, and Bruce. One of the greatest lineups, ever. Cheers!
So glad for Glen. So him last year twice in Amsterdam and he always spoke about his respect for Bruce. Was fortuned to see Bruce in the Netherlands in june and get to see Glen in e few weeks time @ Crossing Border. Together witch Eddie Vedder (my absolute hero) they rule. Wish i could have seen this live. Goosebumps
Fantastic video Dan! Bruce first congratulated Glen after Falling Slowly, by saying they were in the same club...Grammy winners! They are an awesome combination on this version of Drive All Night. True professionals who just LOVE music & E Street Band too! ♫♪♫♪♫
Wooow... :-) Amazing...two masters on one stage... Beautiful! :-) Thanks for sharing!
I taught him to play guitar a couple of years, and we played live once here in Buenos Aires. He could make his dream true, as we played "A Long Walk Home". He introduced me to Bruce's music. Of course I knew him but I never paid too much attention before I met Mike. So I really appreciate it, as Bruce is a great songwriter, sensitive and rooted in the soil of popular music poetry. Thanks again. Best wishes
This is when Glen must have felt like he'd died and went to heaven. The boss is the greatest singer songwriter performer of all time. I'm green with envy of anyone who had the privilege of being there and seeing this live.
This is just great. Fantastic, rarely played song, & a super job of filming.
As you know, it's derived from the Backstreets, Sad Eyes-You Lied interlude.
No matter who we are, how much money we have, or anything else, there's one thing we can only do once. See Bruce Springsteen for the first time.
When he played Backstreets at the Fox Theater in Atlanta I became so absorbed in this that I forgot the song. After, "Stop," the pause, and "Hiding on the Backstreets.....," I was changed forever.
That was beautiful!
glen gets respect from one of his idols who is a major player in true rock n roll. i wonder would bono swap some of his wealth for this . nope he couldn't. money can't buy this !!
good man glenny Ð
Thank you Frankie
Profound observation.
I think it's because for Bruce the performance is not an act. He's in the moment with us; he feels it too.
That's one reason why he loves to perform so much. There's a genuine connection with the audience.
Não faz isso comigo, Bruce..
One of the highlights of last year. Two oscar winners coming together in the historical capital of Ireland.
I was one of the very lucky people to have witnessed this live in Kilkenny, the best duet ever performed on any stage in the world. Thanks Dan for posting this and allowing us all to re live that special night.
Thanks for this, I came all the way from the USA (ohio) for this live. That night was magical when Glenn came out. A memory I'll never forget!
THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS! Great song, great musicians, just great!
Very happy to share :-)
One of the only singers ive ever heard sing a SPRINGSTEEN song that i like!~ thanks for the upload
It was great to me, as only a few months before that gig, Mike asked me to teach him Bruce's songs, so I did and after a lot of practice Mike could play on a stage. Even better, among the audience were two friends of Mike from the UK.
176? I presume you're single. I've only seen 61 & my wife thinks I should enter Springsteen detox, or perhaps a 12-step program.
I point out that's an average of only about 1 3/4 shows a year since 9/30/78; that the cutoff for pathology is 2+ over that span.
She kissed him when he came into the audience during Spirit in the Night on 10/1/78. Ever since if someone gets a little full of themselves I'll say, "That's nothing, I sleep every night with a woman who kissed Bruce Springsteen."
This is without a doubt one of the highlights of my entire life. So privileged to witness it. Thanks for the video, great quality.
Lovely to know this is always out there helping to make the world better
Masterpiece
A long walk home, a Bruce Springsteen's song by Mike and G. Not good at all, but it's something Mike dreamed about for a long time, so it's valuable for that reason.
This song is so very, very beautiful. My eyes are not dry.
I wanted to go to Nolan Park this year, just in case this might happen again. I went to Belfast instead. Think the concerts have been getting more formulaic with less magic moments. I know, it's a bit negative and he's still puts on a show.
This is not Dancing in the Dark. It is Drive all Night.
Would have been better if Bruce just did the singing. DAN is one of those sacred songs that shouldn't be shared vocally with anybody.
Just fn amazing.
How should it feel to sing one of Bruce's most beautiful songs, with Bruce himself that actually sings backing vocals for you? Can't even imagine..
Oh yeah, I forgot. It was a great story with you meeting Glen Hansard the next night as he wanted to meet the guy who shot the video.
six were thumbing in the wrong direction!!!!!!!!!! pure magic, beautiful harmony, ps Bruce, Glen is pretty dam good!!!! Love it
we have such raw talent............. we just need a little push......... well done Glen... u got the love heart and soul..........ps Bruce you are still the BOSS
Cheers, Ryan - my pleasure - thanks for watching :-)
And Glen Hansard did us proud too!!
What an amazing night .... just loved seeing this again. Thanks Dan
How proud does Glen look to be up there.
Wow, prior to watching this video I didn't even know who Glen Hansard is. But now I know. He has a great presence and a great voice. Thanks for posting this amazing 'Bruce - Glen duet'. This video is amazing!
I had a poster request for this song on the next night, now I know why he didn't choose it. Great to watch this one on UA-cam, though.
I'd guess people come back to this clip time and time again. Uplifting.
I know right? Usually he's so in charge on stage, but now when he comes on I automatically go "awwwwww".
Amazing! What a rendition! Glen Hansard covered himself with glory - wow! And Bruce, what can you say, the man just kills it every night. Thanks for sharing this truly memorable video. A bit of Van and Them at the end...just beautiful.
Byłem na tym koncercie był fantastyczny . Brawo !!!
Two excellent musicans together on the one stage, pure class......
5 people here had their screen backwards and sound switched off during watching this video.... :((
glen deserves to be as big as bruce.incredible.
FAIR PLAY TO YOU BRUCE FOR LETTING GLEN HANSARD SING WITH YOU PS SEND NEILS LOFGRIN MY REGARDS
Seen Bruce 7 times...this is one of the songs I badly want to hear live.
Spectacular.
E' sempre un piacere soffermarsi sui video che proponi....un abbraccissimo
Definitely one of the top moments in all the Bruce shows I've seen in the last 28 years. Thanks for sharing
Masterpiece! Glen always simple, nice, honest, smiling, simple T-shirt... I don't know exactly the words to describe his simplicity... it just makes me get emotional!
Glad you liked the clip. Rest assured I couldn't have enjoyed the moment more - after 176 Bruce shows I like nothing better than trying to capture a photo or video clip to share with others, and at over 63,000 views and over 700 positive comments, it makes the effort totally worthwhile for me :-)
