Got to go to this in 2013. They were at a loss with the advance of entertainment technology, so they shut down. Putting aside the pandemic, which I'm sure would be a major barrier to an attraction like this, I think this place had an overlooked nostalgic appeal that would make it worthy of reopening, more than we once thought.
They can bring this back, just upgrade the one in WDW, add one at Disneyland and add some at every Disney Parks in the world (I.e: Paris, Shanghi, Tokyo Disneyland, etc.) They can honestly make millions and bring back visitors with it's details, Add characters, add new attractions and technology! Sell good food, Maintain Attractions and Clean it up a bit, make it like a Disney Hotel with statuses, VIP rooms, at least make it like a INDOOR Disney Park, build some coasters instead of a simulator. I honestly think there's hope for Disney Quest, spread this message along Disney fans, Disney Quest fans and maybe even the Walt Disney company. See ya all real soon! ~Bradly105
Every amusement park should have at least one retro arcade. Will all the money they make, this shouldn't be not a big deal. Pinball machines, Pac-Man's, Space Invaders, Asteroids, all working in perfect shape like they were back in the 80s. But Alas, they're so consumed in technology that they forgot but us 80s gamers from back when all you needed was a quarter or an arcade token. So, I'll keep dreaming and remembering those fun times. :)
this place had VR back in 1999 - so ahead of the times! With the recent nostalgia factor that everyone seems to love 80s and 90s throwbacks, I think they made a mistake in closing this. I'd have loved to visit it. Sadly, never had the chance
Yeah, I feel like it wasn’t marketed enough either. Everyone I know that has been to Disney have no idea this place exist. People thought I was crazy for saying a place like this was real, especially when I tell them about the VR. I went there when I was 7, back in 2000, so they always think I’m BSing about there being VR. That magic carpet ride is lit. I remember being able to look over to my right and we my sister looking back at me but as a monkey, so now her contact has a monkey emoji next to her name in my phone lmfao

What about the Magic Carpet rides? What about the Pirates of the Carribean game? It'd be awesome if they reassembled those somewhere else in Disneyworld, like in Epcot or Magic Kingdom...

I believe it opened on the 25th celebration the year the Castle was a cake??? I Can't remember cause we went in 97 and in 98. I also believe test track had just opened up that year cause it was supposed to open the previous year but was delayed. Animal Kingdom had also just opened that year... Litterally the height of Disney World and ill never forget it. My mom may be gone but those memories really do last forever❤
bigbangbot / You can get an arcade-perfect port on the Dreamcast, by the way. If you don't have an arcade stick for the Dreamcast you can always use a PS2 to Dreamcast adapter. And of course, there's always Galloping Ghost Arcade.
I love DQ..I think it gets a bad wrap in some on-line circles.To me it is still very " Disney" and allows some escape from the Mickey bombardment you receive once your on Disney property.Not that I mind,that's why we save our money and visit as often as we can.Just throwing some support for Disney Quest,the virtual POTC game is awesome !!
I was maybe 5-6 at the time we went to Disney Quest in Chicago. I can only remember 3 things about this place: the river raft ride (at 1:38), the Magic Carpet Ride (at 2:28) and Living Easels (at 2:55). It’s all exactly how I remembered it. I wish I could go back to the 90’s and experience it all over again for the first time
I've wondered what would have happened if DisneyQuest had hung on for another year or two. They closed in 2017, JUST when VR was about to really take off. If they had stayed open a little longer, I wonder if Disney would have decided to just do a total overhaul/update of DQ to modernize it instead of turning it into the NBA Experience.
I wish they would've kept this one. If there was at least some more space over at Disney Springs maybe they could bring this back. But on the bright side, we have something similar already out. I just hope it'll fill that "Void" in my geeky heart.

Disney Quest was the one thing I really cared to remember from my trip almost 15 years ago. The Mighty Ducks Pinball and the Star Wars racer was just on the right side of that wall.
I’ve been to this place once back in 2008. I wish they didn’t tear it down, but instead remodel it and repair some of the arcades. My favorite arcade was the airplane simulator and the build your own roller coaster with bill nye
They should have themed it to Tron for the full arcade experience, and put the Tron Light Cycles rollercoaster there so Disney Springs has at least ONE thrill ride.
The saddest thing is that DisneyQuest could’ve been salvaged. Okay, so maybe putting one in multiple cities was a bit too ambitious, and the Chicago location didn’t do that well, I get that. But what I find pathetic is that they flat out gave up on DisneyQuest in Orlando. They didn’t even _try_ to update it for several years, and let it become even more dated as time went on.
I think them putting it in Chicago was a huge mistake had they put it in New York, Miami, Los Angeles, San Jose, Phoenix, Las Vegas and Atlanta and more I believe it would have survived and we would have Disney Quest in every metropolitan area in America. Disney revives Disney Quest I hope they make it into a family fun entertainment center and amusement park hybrid complete with Arcade, VR Rides, Laser Tag, indoor Rides for indoor and Roller Coasters, Thrill Rides, Water Rides, Kiddie Rides, Go Karts, Bumper Boats, Miniature Golf for Outdoor all on 100 acres. Also would love for Disney to add each Disney Quest with a Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach water park on 40 acres.
id love this back, i was there in 2016 and i loved it. Of course there were thing to improve but with some creation coul had hold many years. i heard that the nba experience was canceled and will not reopen so hope is the last thing i lose.
Sad that theyre going to close it :-( i didnt get a chance to visit and since were going next year, its likely it wont be there when we go...i wish theyd put something disney in its place instead of the NBA Experience...

In 2014 i was able to go to Disneyworld, I was 7 at the time , I was one some of the fornuate kids that were able to go here it. Me and my siblings had an awesome time. Now most of my friends that have been to disney world have never even heard of this place. i was a really fortunate to have experience .

I remember the world was still full of wonder and I felt like the world was this super rapidly advancing place that was so close to space travel and that we were about start sending astronauts to new planets where we might meet aliens and shit. I went to Disney Quest only once in around the year 2004 - was dropped there with my sibling. We were 11 and 10 maybe and stayed for so many hours. One of the best things ever. I'm sad about its fate. :(
I went when it first opened back in the day as a 10 year old gamer it blew mind. We paid a one time fee to enter and all the games were free. Imagine 4(?) Floors of arcade games. I guess I was in it's release year because all of the normal arcade machines had all the modern games you'd see in a typical arcade plus more. This video does not do it justice to how many non-VR games there were there. Soooo many games. I will say Aladdin and all the other VR games were huge disappointments but they had long lines. Okay I lied, I actually liked cyber space mountain. The game where you fight each other with lightsabers in VR also did not work very well. I didn't get anything at the cafe because my parents didn't want to pay the prices. I wish I had video of that event. I swear there was over 100 machines on every floor. My parents had to hunt us down and drag us out but we never wanted to leave.
I've seen the building but never went in it. Will have to go there the next time I go to Downtown Disney. Awesome for video junkies! Great place to go on a rainy Florida day.
My mom got me and my bf tickets to go when it opened, it was perfect for us at 16 & 17. Also I feel so bad for that kid that punched Ralph and hurt his hand!

What is that tune playing at the very end of the video while leaving the gift shop? It sounds soooo familiar to me! I never had the opportunity to go to Disney Quest but I always wanted to go when I was a kid. I grew up in Kissimmee, Fl with all things Disney and Downtown Disney was where we would go all the time for free fun and to spend time with other family members. Disney Springs is beautiful but most of my memories is when it was Downtown Disney. Other than Disney Quest, I always wanted to see Cirque De Soleil and haven't had a chance to do that either. Thank you for this walk through! This 10 year old video gave me a chance to see what was inside that massive building before they got rid of it.
when i used the main elevator to get into disney quest and the genie appeared out of nowhere i freaked out almost literally and to this day i hate only that part of disney quest even though it's gone
LOL If they would have just spent 30% more on updating even ‘some’ of the stuff in here they would have made a killing. It was weird how packed it was regardless of it being a weekend or weekday. Instead, they gave us an NBA basketball experience that failed harder than the Star Wars hotel. Also the fact that Universal was announcing the CLOSING of the NBA City restaurant- sort of soured the announcement of OPENING a new NBA (Disney) entertainment venue.
Ah I remember not being able to go in last time I was at Disney springs because my husband just had to have another order on the Orestes bites after already having one and we were literally just a couple bucks short of the entrance fee. Oh well
i know i'm only 5/6 years late to the party, but i recently saw a walkthrough of the building after it closed down and saw a terrifying fleshy mass in the dark that I figured out is that huge alien towering over Buzz's Astro Blasters (you can see it around 12:30 ). But now that I've figured out what it is, I can't find any information about it anywhere! What is that thing? Why is it there?? Why is it watching over Buzz??????

i know i'm only 5/6 years late to the party, but i recently saw a walkthrough of the building after it closed down and saw a terrifying fleshy mass in the dark that I figured out is that huge alien towering over Buzz's Astro Blasters (you can see it around 12:30 ). But now that I've figured out what it is, I can't find any information about it anywhere! What is that thing? Why is it there?? Why is it watching over Buzz??????
