    I remember taking the FE exam twice when it was open book. Then it switched to computer based and I passed. The main difference is I put in the work on the last attempt. Now I am taking my PE for the third time, 2 times open book failed, and now its computer based, but Ive been putting in 6 hours a day studying. Get a testmasters course and study study study. You are your own weakest link.

    Hi Coach James! I am on my third year of Civil Engineering in Dominican Republic and Im interest on this particular exam, do you know if the FE exam is exclusive to US citizens or I can sign up to take the exam as a Dominican citizen?

    • @stuckinthepast
      @stuckinthepast 5 місяців тому +1

      Unfortunately I did not see the Dominican Republic listed on the NCEES website. FE exam isn’t restricted to US citizens but it looks like DR does not have a national engineering society that is recognized by the US in order to take this test.

    • @coachjamesfe
      @coachjamesfe  5 місяців тому

      It does not look like the NCEES has partnered with the Dominican Republic. I don't know why that is. You can take the test outside of the US by being in an approved Country which can be found here: ncees.org/licensure/international-professionals/

    • @coachjamesfe
      @coachjamesfe  Рік тому +3

      No, sadly they do not but with practice you will know what topic is being covered and if you can solve it within I say a minute. But they do go in order of the manual. So for example they wont give you a engineering economics problem and then a structural engineering problem.

    • @coachjamesfe

      I looked into this and did not see anything in Malaysia for the FE but I did see that they are eligible for the PE. Before you can take the PE you have to take the FE though which is confusing. The main thing is that the University that you graduated from is EAC/ABET accredited and is for 4 years. I would check with the University that you graduated from in Malaysia to see which locations you can use to take the FE exam. Two links that may be helpful is the international requirements. You can find them here. ncees.org/licensure/international-professionals/ and link 2: ncees.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Criteria-for-Evaluating-the-Admin-of-Exams-at-Non-US-Sites-August-2018.pdf

      It's not that simple. The material difficulty on the FE is not too bad. When I was in my senior year, there were people who didn't study at all and passed. If you're a senior or a recent grad who paid attention in class you'll probably do fine. Learning how to navigate the reference manual during the exam and practicing finding things in there for a sample exam is probably the most important thing to prepare for. I'd say a good 80% of the answers in the FE are in the reference manual in some form.
