I was given the Crosley as a gift a year ago and I couldn't figure out how to switch from 33 to 45. Thanks for identifying the tiny fine print for me. Now I'm listening to my original 45 of "A Hard Day's Night" from 60 years ago. Sounds good!
Sadly my jubilation was short-lived. I used the supplied 45 middle but the record stopped just shy of the end. Very disconcerting. This happened with another record as well. Any way to adjust this?
I wish I had the patience to click on this video weeks ago. You saved my record collection! (I know it's not the records, but what would have likely happened was my music would have sat unused for years until I bought a proper turntable). Now I know why my Crosley was at the second hand store!
I'm glad I was able to help, the adjustments were kind of bizarre. I have no idea why the motors get so far out of whack, but it's good that it's re-settable. A proper turntable is a good upgrade when the time is right, but for now enjoy those records!
Hey! Thanks so much for this video! My grandmother got me a crosley t400 for Christmas 2021. Yesterday i was trying to play abbey road but it was so slow (I thought it was some deluxe album at first haha). I thought it was a different problem but watching this video I was able to fix it myself. iPhones have an RPM app and I was able to get it to 33.30. A lot better than the 22.78 it was at before. I wonder why it happens, but at least it’s and easy enough fix… anyway thank you again!
I'm glad I was able to help, thanks very much! And I'm not sure why it happens either, but at least if the motor is easy to get to, it's easy to make adjustments.

The L port adjusts the 33 speed, the H port adjusts the 45 speed and the 78 is adjusted by another port. I have a Yearstay record player (isn’t a super random brand) and the 78 port is on one of the green mother-board-looking sections.

I started with an Ion Profile LP (about the same grade as this unit, except it was semi-automatic which I liked). It was meant mainly for digitizing, but it sounded just as awful as this. It developed massive speed fluctuation problems within the first month, the auto return started triggering irroneously after about two months, and worst of all it started doing noticeable damage to the records I played on it in the last month or so before I threw it in the garbage. Then I upgraded to a Denon DP-300F, which I used for almost ten years (but it still works, I could probably sell it for a hundred bucks). My current table is a vintage Technics SL-5 (a linear tracker from the early 80s) which I absolutely love.
I'm no snob, and I'm certainly not rich... but I feel strongly that these types of turntables are a scam and probably not much better than what you could make at home as a high school science project.
I mean... I get the appeal of an all in one unit that doesn't need a preamp... but if it sounds worse than an mp3 playing through smartphone speakers... why not just stick with playing mp3s through smartphone speakers?
Even after your excellent repair job, I can't help but think your coworker might think ill of the format based on this well-marketed but terrible machine.
It's funny you should mention the Ion tables, I had always wondered if they were similar in quality. I get wanting to digitize, but if that means doing so from a turntable that doesn't sound too good, it's best to just get a better table, even a cheap one from the 80s and 90s. It's disappointing to hear it performed so poorly, I'm sorry to hear it damaged your records. How does your technics perform? I've never had a linear track table, I'd love to know.
And oddly enough, my coworker grew up with records, he was in his late 60s and just wanted a turntable that worked, but didn't mind the sound quality.
@@OfficialSoundtracker I really like the Technics. It is the exact same model that a good friend of mine has (and he's had it his entire adult life, which is decades longer than I've been alive), so when a refurbished one came up on Ebay for $200 I had to jump on it.
It's one of the simpler linear trackers; it doesn't do automatic track detection, it can't automatically play both sides of a record, etc. Ideally, just the right balance of sophistication and longevity/ repairability. It's small (but has a good bit of weight to it), has the arm/ cartridge mounted in the lid (and is controlled entirely via buttons on the front). You've got buttons for cuing and it can be set to either play to the end of a side and stop, or continuously repeat a side until stopped.
I think it sounds good. That said, some people tell me they can hear the difference that a $10K stylus makes; I find this difficult to believe.
The only problem I have with it is its intollerance of slightly warped records due to its compact size. They play just fine, but something makes a scraping sound once per rotation. As a totally blind person I'm not capable of independantly investigating this... but it sounds like the edge of the record scrapes against some part of the table each time the warp comes around. I digitized an extremely rair childrens' record on my channel (which was my favourite as a kid, and then I found a copy some decades later and had to preserve it for posterity as nobody else had done so). You can hear the aforementioned problem in that video.
Sometimes this is bad enough to be picked up by the stylus and made audible during quiet passages. I would love a fix for this one issue that affects a handful of my records, but other than that I'm perfectly content with it.

I have a Crosely Cruiser Plus record player and for some odd reason I can’t get it to turn on. It’s got the right power adapter too but I don’t know what to do
I have a crosley c6, it's not a suitcase style. Regular plinth, dust cover etc. I have to adjust my speed once a year. At first it was slow, i lube everything up, then it was way too fast. Adjust the motor then it's good.

I got one for Christmas and ir was working great until my belt slipped... My sister get the belt back on but I am now dealing with a record that plays like the chipmunks.... The auto stop is used to stop the record at the end so it does not slide over to the label.... You can turn off the auto stop... I need to get it adjusted as I want to play my records... I have records Like the ORIGINAL release of The Chipmunk Adventure soundtrack on vinyl.. Some Monkees Styx and other records....

Speed adjustment sounds impornt
Do you think that one should set properly the 78 speed first and then adjust the 45 and then the 33 last in case there is some bleed over to the speeds. Or are the speed circuits completely independent ?
The speed circuits were independent when I adjusted them, I didn't notice any bleed over into the other speeds when moving between them. Once one was adjusted, it stayed that way. Good luck with your adjustment!

Fixing a Crosley? You mean beyond opening the trash can lid and tossing it in?!
Man not a good way to handle records particularly since you were upset about sound quality. The worst thing for records is the oil from your fingers and your thumbs were right on the playing surface every time. As far as Crosley it's just a name a marketing company bought there are companies in China that make most of these and it's hot or miss but as far as suitcase players they are fine for starters dorm rooms etc good cheap way to see if you even like the ritual of playing a record. Most of us went to CD as soon as they came out because we hated the hassle and sound of records now all of a sudden they are hipster cool.
Fixing it? There's no fixing those things. I wouldn't waste time on the thing. Cheap plastic record destroyers they are. Just throw it out and get a decent record player.
