Is his whole "bloody infernal, how is anyone supposed to read this garbage" unromanced/tiefling specific? I was playing dragonborn (romanced) and he was using the Latin alphabet
It depends on what you say in the first night with him (in the morning, first time seeing his scars). If you know it's infernal writing on his back (either be a tiefling or succeed at the arcana check) and choose the option to ask him "why did he (cazador) write it in infernal?" he will say "bloody infernal..." because he knew it must be infernal. If you have to or choose something else he tries to figure out what language or symbols it could be, because tav has not mentioned that it is infernal. Then he says something like: ."...is it even a letter??". Hope that helps ❤
My Tiefling was romancing him. I really never saw this scene without being in a romance with him (maybe because of 4 times I played it, 3 I romanced him lol).
I never got this scene. How do you trigger it? I learned about the scars and what they mean from Raphael. Asti told me he wants to meet him early in Act 2 when I rest-spammed. Asti was not with me when I met Raph, but when I met him again on the graveyard, Asti was with me, and Raph told us to kill Yurgir, and Asti made a deal with Raph. Yeah, and later, during a rest, Raph revealed what the scars mean. But never did I see this scene here. (Edit: the option with the priest of Gond and his small stick, lol...)
I'm guessing because I've only played once without having a relationship with him and it was on my first run, so it's been a while, but I think you need to be in a relationship with him because that scene always happens to me after I've spent the night with him and see the scar on his back the next morning.
You have to have slept with him in Act 1 to know what it says. Otherwise you find out by Raphael removing his shirt in front of you. Astarion’s reaction is so sad 😞
Actually no, you can have the scene as a friend too, without knowing about his scars, even with lower aproval. Maybe you have not done enough long rests in act one? Past act one it will not trigger anymore. I get the scene every time and it should play automatically after some long rests. I try to make a long rest (or partial rest) per location and/or major effects in the game. For example: before and after arriving at the druids grove. If you don't romance astarion you need to get through a check, to help him out. If you succeeded, you will know he needs help but doesn't know how to ask. This is not necessary if you romance him, because then you most likely have higher approval, and he has enough trust to let you help him. Either way it is great to reveal new aspects of the character!
@ never had it as a friend, but in all honesty… I have only romanced one other character in my 4 playthroughs. And of the three with Astarion it was 2 with a Durge and 1 with ‘n Tiefling. They always caught it on our first night together

No I romanced as a drow and got the same dialogue
Currently a Drow Durge and can read it, but Dark Urge has a proficiency in Arcana so it helps.

@ ‘it might as well be written in Rashemi’ or something along those lines.

@@dezyta That's probably it. Thanks for responding.
