I think one of the most astounding and under appreciated tracks from that first album is The Kick Inside, the closing track. It is shocking that someone at that young age would take on such a theme, a suicide letter from a young woman to her brother/ lover, because of their taboo relationship and because she is carrying his child!! A devastating, potent and sublime finale for her stunning debut. Could you please react to The Kick Inside?? It should not be overlooked.

She wrote it for her then boyfriend, when she was 14 (astonishing genius). He is still alive and appeared on a BBC documentary about her a few years ago, prior to her live concerts; he was all middle-aged, flattered, and someone's dad.

Yes! Kick Inside is my absolute favorite Kate song. Absolutely heart-wrenching even after hearing it a thousand times. I'm amazed it never gets mentioned when people talk about Kate's greatest songs.

I really enjoyed your appraisal of KB's work. I learned something(s) today.
    Thank you.
I think these other KB tracks would make interesting studies:
    Babooshka (Never For Ever)
    Suspended In Gaffa (The Dreaming)
Mother Stands For Comfort (Hounds of Love),
    Never Be Mine (Sensual World)

LOVED your analysis ma’am!! The detailed mechanics of her singing was MOST appreciated!! 💐🥂
    OH YEAH!! PS!!!
Be sure to check out Rick Beato’s analysis of Running Up That Hill!! As a former producer & music professor he a FASCINATING watch. And his breakdown shows IN FULL DETAIL just what makes that song so technically complex-while remaining a very evocative, transcended piece!

Have you heard Kate's evil sister, Nina Hagen?
She has perhaps the most versatile voice ever put on record and... she doesn't care. That's probably the reason why she ended up ruining her voice completely.
It's an excellent subject for analysis. Please give it a go, you won't regret it.

@@AleksandraVocalCoach I'm guessing you were distracted by her appearence? :)
If you close your eyes and just listen, the quality of her vocal performance increases 100%.
But like I said, she doesn't take herself too seriously and I always had the feeling she didn't really love music. She performed every kind of music you can think of and her range is G#1 - Bb7. But she never cared...
On thd other hand, she writes part or her material and plays a few instruments.

Alexandra you, as a specialist and your audience, will be interested to meet a young singer from Russia - Diana Ankudinova. Diana has a unique contralto, a range of more than three octaves and a vocal technique that is not available to all well-known performers. Diana is seventeen years old, she is a student of the theater institute, her original album should be released in the spring. Diana sings in Russian, English, French, Arabic and other languages. You can start your acquaintance with him with the cover of "Wicked Game" by Chris Isaac. You may have an interesting analysis. Look just like that, even without a reaction, you will not be disappointed.
