Some of those B&L clips you saw were from a series of wartime shorts featuring a character called Private Snafu. They were made for US soldiers to watch during WWII, so they were able to get away with more risque jokes and visuals (i.e. "booby traps", the topless mermaids, Snafu saying "Ah, da hell with it", etc.).
I meant to say "B&W", as in black & white. Oops!
They were also directed by the Looney Tunes crew (Chuck Jones, Friz Freleng) and were written by a young Ted Geisel (Dr. Seuss).
I remember seeing a show called "tooned" which talked about the history of cartoons, they mentioned Private Snafu as teaching soldiers not to reveal military secrets and it being by Dr. Seuss. So they did this whole bit:
And if I hung you from a boat?
Not even if you cut my throat
What if I should electrocute?
Go ahead, I'll still stay mute
What if I make it hot as hell (holding a flamethrower)
Go ahead, I'll never tell.
WILL YOU STOP RHYMING?
Sorry it was written by Dr. Seuss
OH CURSE THAT DR. SEUSS!
I'm thristy, may I have some juice?
STOP IT!!!!!!
@@marcpower4167 Think the show was called Toonheads.
you can just edit your comment :)
The scenes that had a lot of military were made by Warner for the military, it was there own way of giving entertainment to the troops, so a lot of the material is adult in it's own right. The series was called Private Snafu.
8:21 that cartoon has been widely used out of context over the years. it is in fact not a hidden away secret cartoon that proofs disney's secret embrace of the moustache guy's regime, but is actually a wartime propaganda piece called "der fuehrer’s face", in which donald has a nightmare in which he's living in ww2 germany. during the piece he is under constant surveillance by the military, has to hide the little food he has, and is forced to work non-stop in the factories. the piece ends with donald waking up in his bed under the watchful eyes of a model of the statue of liberty, overjoyed that he doesn't have to live in these horrible conditions. it's amazing how easily you can make something look really bad, if you rob it off all context.
Walt Disney, who secretly agreed with nazi ideology, was facing bankruptcy after making the movie "Fantasia" and his company would have went under if he didn't make these propaganda cartoons for the US government.
It looked like you were confused about the "Stag Reel" Bugs Bunny got upset about. In case you didn't know, a "stag reel" or "Stag film" was a dirty movie, usually shown at bachelor parties. Also, gotta say, "Coldernell, Alaska" is a great pun. Also, also, the mermaid cartoon was one of those they used to show to GIs in training back during WWII. This one appears to be about camouflage.
Brings back childhood memories.
Yeah Sargent snafu I know about it. It was actually played for the army during ww2 and exclusively for the men to teach them lessons on equipment usage. It disappeared after the war quite literally as it was only made for that purpose. The military still has them in storage somewhere but never shows them.
Love the old Bugs and daffy ones!!!
8:46 It basically called him a hardheaded mother-lover (the Oedipus bit)
In today's society these cartoons would get canceled in a minute
I actually remember seeing some of these when I was a kid. Crazy memories
Hi Teacher and Coach! Gosh, what a blast from the past! I remember watching these cartoons when I was young many moons ago! Good stuff! 👍😎
Those latin names for the Roadrunner and Wile E. coyote were always great, and if you blinked, you missed it because on Saturday mornings on the 13", we couldn't just pause and go back.
That was part of Private Snafu which was made for the Army to teach what not to do
Teacher seems like she would be a fun teacher her reaction makes me laugh
Betty Boop is kinda messed up when you learn she's a young teen.
Wow we just looked it up, omg! 16 years old 🤦🏻♂️🤦♀️
@@TeacherandCoach2020 16 years old is legal back then
It then you remember she doesn’t exist and you relax…. lol
Several states base age of consent is currently 16, can be lower with Romeo and Juliet exemptions or by marriage, so long as it doesn’t go below the federal limit of 12 I believe. Laws are weird.
She started out as a French poodle caricature. So in dog years quite old.
Ahaha, when cartoons actually had some questionable material in em lol
I remember growing up watching the Loony Toons and Merry Melodies cartoons on TV back in the late 60s and early 70s, often with my father, and both of us had a great laugh at them all. We also watched Little Rascals, the Three Stooges, and the old B-movie comedy movies starring Laurel and Hardy, Ma and Pa Kettle, the Marx Brothers, and Abott and Costello. They reminded my dad of "the Hoover days" or "good ole days," as he called the 1930s Depression Era he grew up in and his service in the U.S. Army during WWII. I appreciated all these films and cartoons as fine entertainment. I had little idea then as a young kid that most of the jokes in those cartoons were sexual inuendo and double entendres, until I got a little older and figured out that they were really not produced for kids. Some of them are even downright racist, which is indeed troubling. I agree with coach, it is a shame that a lot of them are no longer sown on TV anymore. American culture has changed, the risqué stuff has come under question a lot these days. These cartoons are indeed a product of our parents' and grandparents' generation and culture. Perhaps they should be shown again with a parental warning and adult advisory. Thanks for the clips Teach and Coach. These cartoons still make me laugh.
Nice to see You Uploading Another Video! Thanks for the consistent uploads! 🙂
Teach, you knew what this was....🤣🤣🤣🤣
There's one that they missed. It was Daffy Duck looking at Playduck magazine. As a kid it went right over my head, later I couldn't stop laughing. Daffy and Bugs are in a rocket waiting to launch and a still shot through a window showed it very briefly.
Bugs is literally a trickster god, you cannot convince me otherwise.
another great and funny video
Great video
A lot of cartoons I have never seen in there guys probably before my time maybe some of em but I think our favourite coach had to be the b💣💣by traps one right by far pmsl hahahahaha the Betty boop ones I never really watched my mum did I think never really understood it tbh great video tho guys 👍😂😂
This was hilarious
That last one with Porky Pig was created in 1938 as part of a blooper reel. Legend has had it that Warner Bros. fired everyone even remotely involved in making the Porky Pig gag, but I doubt it. Mel Blanc was by then the voice of Porky Pig, which he began voicing in 1937. Warner Bros. certainly never fired Blanc.
Fog Horn was always talking smack. Betty Boop had a bunch of dirty hilarious jokes, Bugs Bunny is Savage on all levels 🤣🤣🤣🤣.
As a kid I only ever enjoyed Pepe Le Peau when the object of desire (A black cat whose back gets a white paint line run down it.) finally snaps mentally and turns the tables on
him.
16:30 The cartoons you’re looking for at that frame is Private Snafu. They were adult-oriented cartoons made during World War II to help the war effort for GIs.
Watching this makes me up you’ll do some more looney tunes reaction videos in the future.
You need to watch an episode of Drawn Together and do a video over it
I don't think Teacher will ever be ready for that series...
back in time, cartoons were designed for adults and played in cinemas =)
With perspective these old cartoons were for adults so kids typically weren’t the ones going out of there way to watch these.
You should see some of the pre-WW2 Disney cartoons, not gonna spoil anything butta... O-M-G!
9:30 they were making people furys back in the 60s (or what ever era this is)
Try the 30's to 50's for some of that stuff. Even most of the Bugs Bunny was from the mid 1940's to the mid 60's
The point I've seen made, especially from Looney Tunes Critic, is that you CAN'T assume these were cartoons for kids. Most of them showed before any kind of movie, so the various studios could play with the tone a little more.
So funny
Many of the B&W cartoons are "pre-code" (or made before the Hays code, which was the censorship standard at the time) was written or implemented. Others were made for the US DoD (Department of Defense) and not subject to the Hays code. In that case, those cartoons were only shown to service men durring the second world war, and not shown to the general public.
Classics 😂
I remember these jokes, but I forgot the episode the joke was in. 4:11 and 11:11
13:19 Wait... Oswald the Lucky Rabbit!?
it is sad that truth in action in time is lost in politic as a kid i watched, not knowing its import, but your pug may know otherwise so should we.
thank your education. i trust i cant spell well. so i go back. to get words right . loved your work.
10:56 Did the god give middle fiinger on the driver?
Bugs bunny is the man! Legend!
I could've lived without seeing a Daffy Duck striptease.😂
15:04 the f word
Classics
Funny
What about Fantasia the fully naked girl centaurs 😂
I miss the 80's
you to are just soi cute
It's hard to find the older ones, especially WW2, because crybabies have tried to get them off dvds. It also shows that cartoons weren't for kids most of the time back then.
What's creepier, Daffy Duck stripping or a human man getting turned on by Daffy Duck's striptease?
youtube hasn't been recommending your videos to me like they used to
We have been shadow band 😥
@@TeacherandCoach2020 I just made sure i was subscribed again I appreciate your content
Thank you so much for being supportive of our content. We really appreciate it.
Still better than the censored 11. Which are 11 of the most racially insensitive cartoons out there. Only one was reanimated into the debut of Elmer Fudd by replacing the African American hunter with Elmer hunting bugs bunny.
We've come a long way from Cyanide & Happiness and Family Guy.
Lol cartoons used to be so funny 😂😂😂😂
React to The PJs (1999) episode 1 Hangin' with Mr. Super.
Some of the more explect ones are for service men..
For research is crazy ngl but uh which is that asking for a friend
10:34 because he was... no one is trying to " cancel" a cartoon character from 70+ years ago because no one cares but yes what he was doing was forcing himself on a cat that was clearly trying to get away from him
When the original Looney Tunes cartoons came out, they were made for adults! I prefer older cartoons! Back when people weren't offended so easily!
I would not really call Private Snafu a "classic cartoon", mostly because technically speaking it was a classified WW2 training film series used to help educate soldiers. Literacy rates weren't especially high so visual aids that caught the attention were necessary. Thus they weren't held to the same standards and practices of those aired in theaters for the kiddos to enjoy between the news reels and films.
Also the Donald Duck picture was a Walt Disney war propaganda film produced to emphasize the horrors of being beneath the Nazi regime and how lucky Americans at the time were to live in America. The title is "Der Fuehrer's Face", and the tune from the picture is even quoted in other programs in later years: For example Alan Alda as his character Captain Benjamin Franklin Pierce aka "Hawkeye" in an episode of M*A*S*H starts to sing it.
Its S.N.A.F.U CARTOON
The good old cartoons before this country went to the trash.
Hardhead is someone who won't listen. Oedipus as in Oedipus Rex, fictional character with swollen feet, no need to get into further details about him.
Teach is sooo abusive. It's kinda hot. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
