@BeardOctane And you would get far more orders if your international shipping arrangements weren't as filthy as they are. 50€ as shipping expensenses for countries in the European Union? Are you serious? 🤣🤣
I think we all buy tons of different products at first. It helps sometimes figure out what you like and what works best. I personally rotate between two oils, two butters, and two different beard shampoos and conditioners. Much easier to just buy the two brands I use and pay attention to how much I have left.
Very true you have to go a little crazy with it in the beginning to get an idea of what you like and how to care for your beard the way you like after learning about it. And then if there aren't samples or you just feel like going for it sometimes you regret it you didn't need it and you don't like it but eventually we settle on good products we like I will be buying things again like Shea Moisture beard oil and Honest Amish and maybe Beard Octane again.
Similar to what I do. I do two beard oils and two beard butters with very different formulas. Then I just do one beard wash and one conditioner, though I'm thinking of dropping the conditioner altogether.
Same. As an old retired guy I don't wan't to use expensive products if I'm just sitting around at home tinkering with this or that hobby. However, I need those daily inexpensive products to perform for me and my routine/issues/style etc. The Gillette line is decent but the beardwsh dries out my beard. Everyman Jack makes decent stuff but the quaility can be a tad better. Great scents, though. For going out or just nice evenings at home it's The Beard Struggle for this winter's and Proraso for day products and shaving my head, (electric).
I just buy whatever oil has a beard wash with the same scent, and I make sure it has natural ingredients and none of that you find on the store shelves. Being from Sweden, I support local companies, and the best I have tried is Nõberu, and a Finnish brand Dick Johnson. Another is Mr. Bear, but I never liked their scents that much.
I tried 2 stick wit my top 5 companies. For my type of beard I have 2 rotate between oil viscosity. I love cbd & bird oil but can't use it every single day. I can't go without conditioner. I started using beard products 4 styling & later 4 how my beard feels
Beard Octane LCW is the best beard wash that I've ever used. I like their oils too, but Liquid Gold is not a scent for me. I am one of those guys who bought so many products. but I'm slowly learning my lesson. I have so many oils and butters that I don't even use. I find myself going back to the same 6 or 7 and probably have around 35 different ones.
Hey Scuba. I've always loved your videos. This one was a great topic. Way to keep it real. I'm actually a user of the Beard Octane LCW. I only use it once or twice a week. Every Monday I use a heavy stripping shampoo, but out of respect, I will not mention it here on your thread. And in between those, I co-wash as well. Anyway, love your videos and your sense of humor. Keep them coming. Oh yeah by the way, I think we may be neighbors. Let's go riding sometime. Wind therapy does wonders 👍
Beard Octane is my favorite beard wash by a mile. Beard oil is ridiculously expensive. I get mine in bulk from Adam’s soap wholesale it’s awesome and waaaaay cheaper.
My problem with Beard Octane has always been their scent offerings, even though their overall performance is great. I'm not into the mango-blueberry tutti fruity profiles and the few that I liked (Defiant) got discontinued.
I only use oil and a wash, i dont like balm because i prefer the natural look of my beard vs a “uniform” look. Never tried butter but ive been thinking about adding a butter just for better hair health.
completely agree with you I used to go out buying loads of different products thinking the next product I buy is going to be better than the last, now I Have 2 beard oils beard wash, and a conditioner that's all I need.
I have used every oil and butter known. I always have a skin reaction to them. I get a rash underneath and hairs start to die out. Nothing works for me lately.
Wow, respect for the honesty on this subject. Also, the timing of Black Friday being around the corner. I've been thinking I've gone a little too hard on product and need to chill out, using what I already have.
Maybe you wouldn’t taste your breath if you brushed your teeth. 🦷 I rec a floss, brush, and waterpic💦 every day. Your teeth are more important than your beard.
Great video, Scuba! I appreciate how you always keep it real. I saw three homeless men the other day with big white beards. Their beards needed to be washed, dangled and styled, but other than that they had great big beards that I’m sure were never oiled, buttered, balmed or anything else. I am not saying these products don’t have their place, they do and I use them, but they might not be quite as essential as sometimes promoted. Seems like everyone is trying to build a bigger and better mousetrap, when the old one works quite fine. Don’t stay away so long my friend, the community needs you!
DAMN IT MAN! THIS is why I rock with you homie! I've been on this wave for a few years now! I'm not as cool as you, so it doesn't weigh as much when I say it! Either way, I'm glad YOU said it. RESPECT 👊🏾. Keep on keeping it 💯.
This is the best beard channel. Its real and down to earth and as you said simple. A manly channel not like a lot of the other pretty boy beard channels.
I really appreciate your honesty which is why your the only one I still subscribe to. I have a couple of brands I like and if I change oils it's more of a scent thing. I pretty much only use balm and a heat brush when I'm taking my wife to dinner or a large family function. There are so many unnecessary products now and frankly one brand in particular are spot on with all their scents, awesome, manly, and yeah beer and yet their beard products just aren't good for your beard.
Great video man.. so true.. I buy from one company (broke ass) as needed.. 1beard wash, 1 conditioner.. 2 different scented oils.. and a balm.. so many of these beard tubers.. have 10,000 products behind them on shelves.. these products have a shelf life.. one year or so.. and that info is from the beard companies.. crazy.. I fell for it at first too.. not now.. always appreciate your honesty.
SCUBA I have the lather conditioning wash.. should i actually use a wash after this? I got this as a co wash but after this video it sounds like a All in 1 lol
Do you recommend a good beard growth wash shampoo???. I'm trying to get my beard to grow really really long as fast as possible lol. Not sure if there's such thing though lol. Just curious 🤔 👀
Good content. I feel most promote a company's product. Stick to 1 quality bear oil, and quality butter. Like you said wash accordingly depending on your occupation or surroundings. Otherwise twice a week. Absolutely keep hair products out of your beard.
Great content! I’m retired military for almost 18 years now. Decided to try the beard. I’m looking for a scent that pleases me. I’ve decided to stick with just a beard butter. I’m gather a lot of sample scents. Some free, some at minimal cost. I got one from a vendor. Supposed to smell like tobacco and vanilla,. Smells of mostly shea butter with a hint of the scents I was looking for. I contacted the vendor. Their reply was, they use “all natural” scents and that is to be expected, then offered to swap it out with another. I don’t want another that’s just going to end up smelling like shea butter. So far, Valor and Badass are on point. I will have to try your brand to see how they stack up.
Just came across your channel from that manscaped 6.0 one, any directions you could point me to? I just want to be clean shaven, but I have yet to tried electric stuff so pretty clueless, but definitely would prefer if it works for down there too.
Good video. These days I'm just sticking with a few oils i love the effects of and a good wash. I will even apply plain shea butter to the mustache area as it needs extra love and softness. I use a leave-in conditioner sometimes I like that.
Just wanna say your videos are amazing 😁. Really straightforward and easy to understand. Wanted to sort my beard out and came across your channel. Keep it up.
I use Argan Oil on my hair, on my face, and on my beard. It conditions each, without leaving any greasy residue behind. Quickly soaks into skin and/or hair and softens gently. All you need is about two drops.
Hey man, love your videos! Getting more into taking care of my beard and wanted your opinion on what's the best brand if I'm looking for a wash, balm/wax, and oils? I know in this video you mentioned beard octane, but wanted to know if there were any better brands to go with. What are your thoughts on beard struggle, johnny slicks, and beard brand?
Beard octane is great. Some other great ones that I know Scuba signs off on are Luxurious Bastard, Kingsmen, and Detroit grooming. Havnt tried slicks or struggle but am not the biggest fan of beard brand personally. Expensive and products are just ok imo.
Yeah I guess I can’t use beard octane. Coconut oil has a comedogenic rating of 4 out of meaning meaning a moderate to high risk of clogging pores. I’ve have to get rid of tons of products that have coconut oil in them.
@@BeardTubeI am. Just had to leave another company who shall remain unnamed since I got folliculitis and other skin issues. Dermatologist said it’s very likely due to the coconut oil. Appreciate this video bro What beard oil would you recommend for someone who had alopecia on the beard line around 18 months ago? Any tips be greatly appreciated
I honestly don't know a ton about alopecia, and I would be kind of afraid of making a bad recommendation. If you know @dancbearded he knows a lot of information about stuff like that. He might be able to help you out more than i can
Scuba, some people claim that washing with a conditioner would clog your facial pores. They claim that it should never be worked into your face just applied lightly to your beard hairs. What are your feelings about it clogging your facial pores? Thanks in advance.

I bought a bunch of sale octane oils. I liked leaded, not willing to try to figure out all the new scents again so I just use what’s in the cabinet, though not a fan of the scents. I don’t like every company tries to make you buy an absurd amount to get free shipping. I may try cooper johns, as I hear they are at the hardware store and k can just pick it up. But I agree with the video, I bought to much to start and it just fills the cabinet. It was a waste. Just my 2 cents.
I went from having a bunch of beard products to just a big bottle of jojoba oil for 9 dollars it’s lasted me months and my beard is just as soft as when i was wearing al the products.
Your reviews are essential when it comes to choosing a product. When and how much to choose is on the viewers. To paraphrase an old computer slogan: “KISS OFF” - Keep it Simply Simple On your Facial Fur! (The original was for timekeeping devices On the Factory Floor). This video was pretty subdued for you. Hope all is well.
@@BeardTube To make a short story long, years ago I sold mini-computer systems with custom software designed for just about any customer’s needs. I went to a lot of trade shows, of computers and target industries. A popular acronym of the time was KISS - Keep It Simple, Stupid. The motto of an exhibitor selling systems to track time in factories (clock in and out, record processes, etc.) was KISS OFF! - Keep It Simple, Stupid On the Factory Floor! Must have been around 40 years ago. Maybe someday I’ll forget it!
Mouthwash does not take the scum 🤮of your teeth and gums like a toothbrush . You need to brush 2-3 times a day.😬 then you use mouthwash. Now there you go….. on beard products. Beard shampoo, one bottle of citrus scent beard oil and another bottle unscented.
Have a beard? You don't need beard oil, beard balm, beard wax, or any other useless beard product. You don't put hair oil on your head so why would you put it on your beard? Wash it like the hair on your head. Condition it like the hair on your head. Treat it like the hair that it is. Blow dry it like the hair on your head. Want it straightened? Use a curling brush to straighten it. Stop pretending that it is a fragile thing that must be babied. It is hair -period. Unless of course - you like spending money on useless products?
the oil is because your face produces less sebum than your scalp. So your hair on your head doesn't dry out like the hair on your face. Beard oil helps it to stop itching and keeps the hair from being always dry
@@BeardTube How itchy is a beard? I've had one for over 30 years. It gets itchy very seldom and I never use beard oil. Putting oil on without washing it out doesn't help your beard it only makes it oily. Wash Condition Dry Brush Easy
@@misterjokertoker5797 Well you probably have great beard genetics, and your face produces great amounts of sebum. The most common itch is for people first growing one out in that under 1cm range, and also when I don't use beard oil for awhile, mine always itches. You're a lucky man
@@BeardTube Maybe I am. The hair on my head (was) a PITA and the beard has always been easy. I just wish more men would wash and brush their beards instead of treating it like pubic hair. It's pretty easy to do but I guess they have certain "rules" about grooming they think they have to follow. I'm surprised how many men use bar soap on their beard. That would make your hair dry and brittle for sure. I suppose for those with the pube face they need the oil or their beard would drive them crazy.
Technically beard oil isn't for your beard per say but rather for your skin underneath as its a little miss leading and I agree with you I wouldn't put no hair oil in my beard nor on my head hair that what a psychopath would do

To paraphrase an old computer slogan: “KISS OFF” - Keep it Simply Simple On your Facial Fur! (The original was for timekeeping devices On the Factory Floor). This video was pretty subdued for you. Hope all is well.
I've never heard that acronym! Very good one, actually :)
I believe you about the beard products, but not the teeth thing
Yeah bad advice about 3 times a day haha thats like girls that over pluck thier eyebrows then have to draw them back on
Have a beard?

How itchy is a beard?
I've had one for over 30 years.
It gets itchy very seldom and I never use beard oil.
Putting oil on without washing it out doesn't help your beard it only makes it oily.
Wash
Condition
Dry
Brush
Easy
@@misterjokertoker5797 Well you probably have great beard genetics, and your face produces great amounts of sebum. The most common itch is for people first growing one out in that under 1cm range, and also when I don't use beard oil for awhile, mine always itches. You're a lucky man

Maybe I am.
