Another video idea that ties into this series you’re doing, best reptiles for 6*2*2 enclosures. A 180 gallon (6*2*2) enclosure is basically the largest commercially available enclosure, it’s the largest you can find before you need something custom built, so it would be cool to see some reptiles that will fit into that enclosure. I’d say male boa constrictors (both BCIs and BCCs, BCCs don’t get significantly bigger than BCIs), Ackie Monitor Lizards, Blood Pythons, Timor Monitor Lizards, and Indigo Snakes would make great choices.
I love these videos!! As a 14 yr old who is interested in the hobby but doesnt have much room, finding reptiles that fit in smaller enclosures is very nice. :) This series also helps me think of what reptiles I may eventually want and what size tank to get!!
You are starting off right by researching and gathering information to help you learn about what it will take to properly care for the animal you wish to get. Good luck to you.👍
I'm not sure how I got here, but that Viper Gecko is adorable. The Starry Night Frog looks like it is actively engaged in an anxiety attack, which I can relate to.
Love seeing a viper gecko on a list finally! I feel like they have a lot of similar appeal to the elegant/sand-fingered geckos. I have three, so they're in a slightly larger setup, but they cohabit really well and are adorable. Though you have to be very careful with the little guys since they're small and quick, they can also be nice handle because, despite being a terrestrial gecko, they still have toe pads and can hold onto you better than a leopard gecko.
Your videos are always very informative. I'm just some dumb 13 year old with a small channel, looking to get a reptile, and your videos are very inspiring, even no they aren't what I post. I think that's proof that you have a good channel. Keep up the good work. (:
I have a five lined skink personally currently in a 30 gallon horizontal enclosure. Honestly, I would recommend this as the smallest size and possibly even a 40 gallon. they are very active lizards and my guy seems to always be running around and climbing on things. great video very good watch!
Thank you for immediately killing my dream for one of these ;) If I have the space for a 30 gal I'd want something else. Will still research them as a native animal tho!
Smooth Green snakes it should be noted are somewhat aquatic - while they don't need a water feature if you give them one they will readily swim. Regardless they like high humidity and moist soil.
I am absolutely shocked that viper geckos aren't like, the next big thing. Leos are ubiquitous in the hobby and vipers are eensy wee leos-- they're sassy, they're adorable, they're fun to watch, they're beautiful... they're honestly the absolute best and I love mine endlessly. I wish I could find a captive bred smooth green snake, I'd have one like yesterday. I am a person who lives in a small space so my collection is mostly lil guys who can do well in smaller enclosures. I have a few exceptions but I've maxed out floor space so anything else I acquire has to fit on the shelving. XD
Video idea: These big snakes can be your first snake. When it comes to “starter snakes”, people will say that, say, corn snakes or milk snakes are great beginners. However, a lot of people get into snakes because they don’t want something as small as a Hognose snake or even a Corn Snake, they want a big boy. Personally, I’d say Woma Pythons, Borneo Short Tail Pythons, Ball Pythons, BCI (and to an extent BCC) Boa Constrictors, and Dumerils Boas are great first snakes if a bigger snake is something that you want. All of these snakes are very hardy and won’t just die on you if you make a mistake (unlike something like a rainbow boa), they’re big but not so big they can kill you (like a Burmese or Reticulated Python), and they’re all very docile and don’t need experience to tame down (like a Blood Python or Yellow Anaconda). What do you think?
@@jjhill001They're not that large, they'll get pretty long, but they'll stay skinny and may never have to move on from mice to rats. I define snake size by what they eat. Meanwhile, Borneo Short Tail Pythons will stay 4-ish feet long, but are going to get REALLY girthy, like as girthy as a large female Boa. They're going to eat extra large rats. In my state (Kentucky), we have five lined skinks which are almost identical to the ones you talked about. They’re everywhere in Kentucky but are endangered in a few other states. I caught a baby once outside at the place where I worked, and it must have been really young because it only acted flighty for a minute or so before it just sat on my hand and looked around. I let it sun on my hand for a few minutes before nudging it into a bush. I could definitely see those little guys being a good pet if they were captive bred for a few generations. The adults are very flighty, but that baby was very chill. I’m guessing that it was so young that it probably had little to no interaction with predators, so it was pretty quick to relax on my open palm

I've been breeding five lined skinks for 10 years now. I breed mine in a 100 gallon heavily planted Rubbermaid cattle tank outside in my backyard. They have babies every year that I just release on my property. I do catch them out of the bin for hibernation on my enclosed back porch because in the bin they can't get down past the frost line. I have a smaller hibernation bin on my porch and I keep a small heater out there so that the temperature doesn't get lower than the mid 30s. I don't think that they are endangered here in Maryland. I see them pretty often in wooded areas where I live.

Hello bro i love your videos and been watching you for couple years now, although i learned so much from you, i only have 1 leopard gecko which looks the same as yours and i was never told what breed it is. Could you tell me what urs is called and how much it roughly costs?
Why do we keep our pennies? We something with which to measure smooth green snake eggs, viper geckos etc. What would you have us use, the metric system?
I'm from Ontario as well looking to get into keeping reptiles. And my municipality seems to have banned alot of animals that I can keep at least to my understanding. Any thing venomous is a no go. Unless it's a zoo or pet shop. Same with alot of feeders. Again as far as my understanding. I was wondering if there was a website that was Canadian based that I could browse and find some animals. I've only got a pet smart in my local area. Thank you.
Why am I here? Because I want to get a pet reptile at an expo in May, and your channel presents a lot of different breeds by metrics I care about like "easiest," "most affectionate," etc. You basically pitch a bunch of reptiles to me so I can pick out the one that I like the most and can also meet the care requirements for! Right now I'm thinking crested gecko or some kind of skink btw

If you haven’t please do a chuckwalla or uromastyx care guide if you can please
Saw a lot of sand geckos on deployment. They were fun to watch.
Hey! Appreciate the video. Are blue-tailed skinks ok to keep in 10 gallons? I've seen a lot of people debating between 10-20
Why do we keep our pennies? We something with which to measure smooth green snake eggs, viper geckos etc. What would you have us use, the metric system?
I didn't know the blue tails are endangered. My home in NC is infested with them lol. I have to remove them from the house often 😂
Ahhhhh the new intro ❤️🔥
hope you love it!
@@WickensWickedReptiles, it was fire lol
A neighbor put a 60 gallon tall to the curb, picked it up and brought it home. Any reptiles/amphibians for it? Or just an aquarium?
I would love to see a video on animals that can eat crested gecko diet or with similar care
What about dart frogs for a 10 gal tank? Pretty, relatively cheap and widely available.
Tropicolotes! So hard to find captive bred though.
oh no doubt!
SOMEWHAT EARlY I LOVE UR VIDS
