  • It's time for us to tackle some of the more complicated geometry formulas, those for Surface Area and Volume. Follow along with fellow GED students as Kate compares and contrasts perimeter, area, surface area, and volume, then works a variety of GED style example problems using her GED formula sheet and her TI-30XS calculator.

    I had to stop the video, just to say "You could never over explain something." I feel the more you say it the more it sticks. Thank you for doing so.

      Not everyone would agree, hahaha. But I'm so glad my style of teaching works for you!

    On #3 you just needed to multiply 150 by 3 since there are three garden beds ?

    hi, i was wondering how important do you think it is to include the specific measurements of at the end of your answer on the ged test? like inches, square units, cubic units, etc. could it potentially affect scoring if i don't even bother?

    • @LightandSaltLearning
      @LightandSaltLearning  4 місяці тому +1

      It likely won't affect your scoring at all as I doubt they'll even make you put it there. The main reason I stress it so much is I want you to have the mathematical reasoning that goes along with it (ie I see square units, I know I'm talking area), so that you will have a much better chance of interpreting the geometry word problems that the GED loves so much!

    Must multiply 150 ft by 3 to get 450 cubic feet #3

    On number 4 I put 9x9x11x11x9x9x17x17x11x11x17x17 like it said and got 8.02299 so forth. No matter how it's inputted (9x9= than 11x11= than 9x9= ect) it just gives me 9.0299.... wonder what I did wrong?

    Hello Ms. Kate this is Verinda with KY Adult Education using your SA & V video and I have a question regarding #7....I noticed that the unit measures are not the same does this matter? The base of the prism shows a height of 4.2cm and a base of 6m...should we need to convert to have the same unit measurements to work with to find B=area of the base or does this matter in a question such as this? Also the height of the prism is 15cm...just a little confused. Thank you and absolutely enjoy your videos.

      O my goodness. How distracted was I when I taught this class!?! I'll clip the vid to remove this so it doesn't lead anymore students astray! Thanks for the eagle eye!

      Just watched it. I did mislabel a side, yes, should have all been cm. However, the height of the triangle (used when finding the ARE of the base), is NOT the same as the height of the prism (used when finding the volume of the prism). That is consusing, I know, which is which I clarify that towards the end. I think I'll leave it in afterall (but I wish there was a way I could correct the labeling!)

      @@LightandSaltLearning no problem didn't pay attention to that part and I just put cm on the 6...no worries you're still great!!!

    I don’t know what to type after 4.5 on the problem!

      For #1 you can type this EXACT expression into your TI-30XS calculator 2(3.14)(4.5)(6.25)+2(3.14)(4.5)x^2
