I was born in WGC in 1952 and left in 1967. I have spent most of my life in North East USA. This brings back so many memories. Surprisingly not that much has changed, even the baker’s I used to go to is still there. Thanks for the great photography and the memories.

So many changes from when I was born and grew up there, a lifetime ago. I wonder what happend to my school friends? The Pacfic Northwest is my home 'Across The Pond!' WGC seems similar to what it used to be some aspects, but I remember it being far less built-up, than it is now. The train-station for instance, had a ticket office, and that was about it, no shops. It was convenient to walk or ride a bike, far less cars in the centre of town. The Cherry Tree was a fancy Pub/Dinner House on Bridge Road, near the Council Offices. I believe it is a super- market now. Before I was born my grand-parents ran a pub in what became The Cottage Hospital on Church Road, long before QEII was built. I rememver going to Digswell Riding School, for lessons and Margorie Baily's Ballet School near Applecroft School. I also took Scottish Dancing lessons on Saturday mornings. It was a big deal when they built Welwyn Athletic Club.

Nice place to live in. London is so accessible with one train straight to Kings Cross. Buses around the area are quiet unreliable but biking or car works. Good amount of restaurants, coffee shops + the shopping mall. Stanborough park is a big park quite close aswell. I lived here and was very happy. But would say stay closer to the town when choosing accommodation so much nicer than some areas as AL7, starts being dodgy :))

It is an amazing trait of human beings to feel the pull of the land or place where they have memories, their youth, schooling, loves and friendships… the most, beautiful place is just that beautiful but means nothing to somebody who didn’t grow up in there! Like music, places remind us of our childhood, the people we cared about…I love Letchworth and Hitchin because I lived there in the 1990s and where I brought young women I met in London and fell in love of Herts! Solo se vIve una vez…

Hello, sorry to bother you but as you live in WGC what do you think of it as some reviews portray it as a bit chavy and also its said that there are alot of young layabouts causing trouble in town,I'm asking as I'm looking to maybe buy a flat about ten minutes walk from town, namely the new block that's called principle point which runs along Bridge road.

OK, fully understood. Could you let me know how many minutes and seconds into the video you appear? I'll trim it out, no questions asked.

It's legal to film in a public place in the UK and no permit is required.
