i agree may could be Milan - Arsenal the final if referee count schefechnko's goal but also may not anyway barcelona back then was one of the best football club in the world
As a Celtic fan it warmed my heart seeing Larsson finally get that European trophy that he richly deserved he changed the game when he came on in that final as well getting 2 assists absolute legend it would have been a travesty if he ended his career without a UCL especially after the heartache with Celtic in the 2003 UEFA Cup Final.
Barça had everything a team needed to win the UCL. A little bit of luck, a football creative maestro like Dinho and Deco, a crazy keeper like Valdes, a defence that made almost no mistakes, a quality striker like Eto and a calm, intelligent manager like Rijkaard.
This Barcelona team made me dream, they tapped into the everything I loved about football, just like the Milan team they played in the semi final. We don't get teams like that anymore. The whole wanted them to win simply because starting in September of 2003 they made it their ethos to deliver the most brilliant football on the planet week in week out, it was very hard to accept the Cheslea defeat in 2005 and everyone knew if they didn't win it 2006 it would be a tragedy for what was the best Barcelona team since Cruyff's dream team. I remember watching Saviola and an aging Larrson missing and wasting so many chances in those years, Samuel Eto'o was the most important signing for that team, the best striker Barcelona had since Romario (I don't count R9 coz he wasn't in a team competing for the CL).

They clearly brought in two of the best players from last season's Champions League: Deco and Giuly. And don’t forget Messi, who, even though he was still super young, was so talented that Capello wanted to loan him so bad. Ronaldinho was also the best player of that era and had recently won the World Cup with Brazil in 2002. So, what do you mean by the "weakest squad"?
Stop with this single handedly comment. Ronaldinho played extremely well no doubt, but Etoo was no afterthought, he came clutch when necessary. Valdes was spectacular between the posts, Larsson was a game changer when their attack faltered. Ronaldinho was a standout but he didn't do it singlehandedly.
Ronaldinho should have been named the ballon dor in 2006. The season 05/06 was by far his best and he deserved! He shined in every single match!!! THE BEST

Nah man, Dinho was better than Messi only back in 2006 when Messi was still a little unexperienced guy and Dinho was already staged as the best footballer on the planet. But if comparing primes, don't forget Messi carried Barça to 3 UCL trophies just like Dinho carried to this 1. In fact, Messi carried Barça in 2019 too. He played like crazy in 1st leg against Liverpool, secured a 3-0 lead and all his teammates had to do is not concede 4 fucking goals in 2nd leg. But it was too much for them since that Barça was actually dogshit, got to semifinals all on Messi's back. In finals they would almost certainly win against Spurs. The very moment he left everything collapsed. Can't say the same about Ronaldinho, as Barça won the treble in 2009.
@@gzhjizh Well, there's a bit more to it. Ronaldinho became undisciplined, and Guardiola had his own vision. This is why Ronaldinho leaving Barcelona didn't have much effect. But Messi stayed for a long time, and Barcelona became too dependent on him.
The quarter finals against Benfica were really unfair for the Portuguese team. Who knows what would have happened if that handball (which was very clear) was conceded as a penalty.
I’m a Man United fan and in all fairness. The ref had ruined the match with that unnecessary sending off of arsenal’s keeper Jens Lehmann so early into the game.
