Why shouldn’t he get extra time for receiving illegal punches in his face, but only when there’s an eye poke or groin kick! yes he perfectly explained that he blatantly cheated and took the officiating into his own hands. He should have been rightly disqualified on the stool.
Regardless if he was hurt or not at the end of that round, he was still starting to gas hard. He still took more time to recover not only his wits but mainly his stamina.
The fact that you said that his cardio was helped more than his wits by the 30 second break tells me to give your opinion 0% of a thought. Lets not forget Tim Kennedy was still handled by a gassed fighter
He literally explains that himself. He uses the water for therapy to regain his stamina. Then used the extra time that bought him to regain his wits. Go actually watch the fight and you literally see him starting to gas and get tagged by Tim more towards mid to late part of the 2nd round.
When I first saw a clip of Yoel sitting on the bench I thought "What an asshole". But nobody showed me the clip where he had 7-8 illegal strikes on him. This changed my perspective.
So, the UFC cutman applied too much vaseline and left which gave him more time and then the coach may have stalled a little bit when wiping him out. Yoel's point, and it's hard to disagree, is that it should have been an easy win for him in the first place and he should have been given much more extra time after getting hurt by illegal punches, so it's stupid to complain about the few seconds they stole in order to set things straight.
Yet since that fight this shit gets brought up again and again, and usually Yoel gets the blame, not Kennedy, not the UFC cutman. Shit like that rubs me the wrong way.
Yoel intrigues me an extraordinary amount, on one hand I respect him immensely for his values & his perspective on things - very, VERY intelligent & then on the other, I wonder if he’s just very skilled at convincing people. I definitely want to know more about this guy.
I can't believe after watching that live, I actually have come to understand Yoel's reasoning. It may not have been right for doing so in some people's eyes, but his argument does have merit.
How do you KNOW that from a 1 positive test out of the 3 in a span of a week, when the steroid that was found takes about 6 months to disappear? Makes no sense to anyone with a brain.
@Burt Gummer - Your comment is out-of-context. The context is the quote which was brought up. Joe Rogan was asked "Does Jones' positive drug test delegitimize his entire career?", to which Joe Rogan replied... "Well... we'll never know if Jon Jones had steroids in his system". He actually said "in his system the whole time" but the original poster seems to be trolling by modifying the quote to suit his narrative.
Mr. E not trying to argue, but that’s pretty faulty logic, along with the fact that Kennedy got up from the stool and was waiting and yelling for Yoel to get up
@@JTD472 I think Kennedy getting up is minimal energy expenditure as I said originally. Also, it isn't just my logic, but Joe Rogan's and other commentators. How so? Well in some fights when one person gets supposedly eye poked or kicked in the groin, and the ref gives them a break. Joe and the others say, "he is getting extra rest!" Then another says, "ya but the other guy is getting extra rest as well!". Then when they resume you can see that they are both full of energy like round 1. So you see they do apply this logic and it is correct logic, but in this case he has forgotten that. If you have not seen a fight where that happens I can find a couple. I saw one recently too.
Mr. E I actually meant to reply to somebody else that was saying basically the same thing, but the idea is essentially the same. I’m just trying to point out that giving more time in between rounds can have different effects on each fighter, for example if one just got rocked and needs to clear the cobwebs more recently than the other. It’s not just about getting your heart rate down. And I think it’s a little sketchy saying it’s “negligible” that Kennedy stood up when that is basically all they’re required to do at that point and what Yoel is being blamed for NOT doing. Also, just because somebody else is using a faulty argument doesn’t make it any more right/wrong, of course. I’m not trying to make a case for either fighter; I just think a lot of scenarios like this are more complex than people care to go and that ends up being the narrative that follow them around for a long time. Anyway thanks for the reply bro. Didn’t think anybody would be watching this old ass video I landed on 👍
@@JTD472 JTD472 I didn't want to get super into recovery, but standing is honestly a superior form of recovery. Especially high level athletes with efficient vascular systems (blood circulatory). That is why I said it is negligible. You will probably roll your eyes at this but I could argue that him standing is better recovery than Yoel sitting. While it is true that finding other people with similar logic does not make something true, Joe uses that logic himself (contradicting himself). The point is that in all cases seen this far, when the fighters are given a break (standing and even yelling and protesting eye pokes/groin), they fight better when it resumes. I commented initially because Joe was making it seem like Kennedy had 30 seconds less recovery than Yoel. I think that is faulty logic on his end when he says the opposite during fights. Either way, I don't feel like we are arguing because you seem like a chill person and you are reasonable. I agree with some of what you are saying. For me, it feels like when I'm debating a friend on something lol! Side note - I just watched the Michael Venom Page fight from last night, that was crazy. Would love to see that dude fight Adesanya.
Mr. E the difference is that in the round before Tim wasn’t almost knocked out by Yoel. Also if you watch the vid is SLO MO Tim didn’t seem to grab glove on purpose. Something that might make sense for a point to be deducted but should grant Yoel extra rest
5:25 . It begins but Joey fails to say that yoel is saying Big John told him to wait to get the vaseline cleaned off. I think the cutmen are assigned by the UFC and are not part of the fighters corner like in boxing. So when big john asked his coach to clean him he says his coach is smart and said he can't, sort of implying that he kinda was buying him a little more time .
I thought "StoolGate" was in reference to that guy who shit his pants in the octagon, then proceeded to step in it and walk around the octagon, leaving shitprints everywhere. Jim Lahey would be proud of me.

Yoel Romero should be a champ at least for once. I believe he was robbed from the win in his rematch against Withtaker. But, unfortunately, because he is cuban and he doesn't speak english, people don't like him (including Joe Rogan himself) and because he is too much settling his gameplan on defense /surprising opponent, referees keep making him lose. Just a last info. i think it is very important to mention : Yoel Romero is now 42 years old yet he still fights very well and he is still so tough !
I'm with Yoel on this one. But it's hilarious how he went to Spanish when he started to explain this. I'm Mexican and I understand but most people don't. It's like when you get caught stealing and your response is no habla engis' 😂

I like ruthless gamesmanship. When Mike Tyson used to get away with elbows on the blind side of the ref, it didn't surprise anyone. We didn't expect anything less, we loved that level of aggression and willingness to do whatever you could get away with to win. I'm a purist with boxing, I love the chess match at elite level, but first and foremost I'm here for the violence, the trench warfare, the hearts and souls of two participants just laid bare. MMA is the purist form of fighting and the purist legal form of violence. "He grabbed my glove so I sulked on the stool" Miss me with that shit.
that fight was such a karma . kennedy cheating and rocking yoel, then thinking in 3rd round that he just needs to finish him off and gets clocked in first 10 seconds and beaten so badly that second head started to grow from his cheekbone lol

I think he gave some really good arguments in his favor. Yet, it's clear that he benefited from this so called "street mentality" he has. In America we are so used to the rules being followed that it's not very likely that in the heat of the moment one would consider such clever, yet justifiable measures. For example, if a regular guy gets fouled his most natural reaction will be to look at the ref in order for the rules to be followed and to maybe penalize the other guy.. Where Yoel was brought up, that can backfire even more so you have to get more clever and do what he did, because honestly he did bring justice into his own hands otherwise he most likely would've lost that fight. Not justifying or saying it's the correct thing, we have to be able to trust each other. That's why in America you can afford to sell refillable beverages, or leave our houses unlocked without anyone breaking in (just some small examples of trusting each other), because you know people will simply not take advantage of the situation, that's what the country is based on.. unfortunately in this case it was Kennedy who actually started with the dirty shit
Joey with the bad translation “Código de la calle” = rules of the street. What toel is saying in the begging is there are street rules and mma rules. They both intertwine.
Tim cheated by holding his gloves and upper cutting him 8 times so Yoel took extra time to even the odds, it’s that easy and I’d say made it fair. It wasn’t even a close fight up until that point.

Yoel: if he puts his finger in your eye?
Joey translation: if he sticks his finger in your fucking eye!
Lol
hahahahahaha
LMAO
Lmao joey was doing a good job translating though
He's called Coco for something 😂

I thought this was clickbait gotta watch the whole podcast now. I luhhhh uuuu joe
T Money I thought n did the same thing Joey better than you regular dope translator
I see you soon boy!
Wannanow
What's funny is the whole time Kennedy was pissed off he could have also been resting as well of he saw that there was stalling. 😂
Yeah seems like a wash to me. Both parties played dirty. Nobody was a saint here
Yoel Romero is the Cuban Black Panther!
Yordanys Fasta....wow did you come up with that yourself?
romero would one punch KO Tchalla
AwesomeBlueDie Your comment wasn’t intelligent at all.
Cubans are black dummy
Black Puma
Its funny af knowing Spanish listening Romero go back and forth its cool
I've never noticed glove grab before but now I can see it clearly. Damn Tim played dirty on this one.
Yoel intrigues me an extraordinary amount, on one hand I respect him immensely for his values & his perspective on things - very, VERY intelligent & then on the other, I wonder if he’s just very skilled at convincing people.
I definitely want to know more about this guy.
He’s definitely honest
I can't believe after watching that live, I actually have come to understand Yoel's reasoning. It may not have been right for doing so in some people's eyes, but his argument does have merit.
Yoel is a beast and is quite clearly an intelligent dude, mega respect and fear, this dude is SCARY!!!
Yoel is world class at 3 sports: Wrestling, MMA, and dodgeball.
ibrahim khan well played sir!!! : )
I'd like Joey to translate my wedding vows to my wife
Lmfao
I now pronounce you fucking husband and wife you may kiss the fucking bride there ya go.
@@geraldtorres5339 uncle Joey is more respectful than that
"you are now colleagues"
Dudes Spanish is fukin horrible
Great podcast one of Joe's best in a while. Yoel is a fascinating character.
Joe "We'll never know if Jon Jones had steroids in his system" Rogan
Joe is correct, there is no way confirm whether Jon Jones was using steroids before USADA was implemented.
How do you KNOW that from a 1 positive test out of the 3 in a span of a week, when the steroid that was found takes about 6 months to disappear? Makes no sense to anyone with a brain.
ChuckleKnuckles 😂
@Burt Gummer - Your comment is out-of-context. The context is the quote which was brought up. Joe Rogan was asked "Does Jones' positive drug test delegitimize his entire career?", to which Joe Rogan replied... "Well... we'll never know if Jon Jones had steroids in his system". He actually said "in his system the whole time" but the original poster seems to be trolling by modifying the quote to suit his narrative.
ChuckleKnuckles pictogram says hello 👋
Dude is throwing hella curse words in there 😂
Right! Yoel didn’t even curse once 😂
Lmao Joey is leagues below yoel in terms of speaking
Listen to literally 5 minutes of ANY Joey Diaz stand up or podcast. You’ll understand that just how he is.
Joe keeps talking about the extra 30 seconds rest... but Kennedy also got that 30 seconds rest... sure he is standing but that is negligible.
Alvaro Neria well dana even said that the ufc messed up
My wisdom level increases by a 100 listening to this guy.
Tim grabbed Yoel's glove and hit him, which was the entire reason Yoel was injured. Tim got exactly what he deserved. Dirty AF
That stool situation bothered me but I'm a big fan of Yoel now.
smokeclouds8 stool gate never bothered me too much, but I loved his flying knee of weidman
I thought "StoolGate" was in reference to that guy who shit his pants in the octagon, then proceeded to step in it and walk around the octagon, leaving shitprints everywhere.
Jim Lahey would be proud of me.
Ivan Fedorov was that a pun?
Never knew I wheezed when I laughed before
Joe is high as hell.
That just went completely over his head . 😂
MSM Zombie Killer what did
0:30 a “código” is a code not a colleague
6:46 Yoel says he “always uses the water including in training” not “exclusively in training” like how Joey translated it.
I could listen to Joey Diaz narrate Yoel Romero forever.
Romero: "...tranquillo."
Uncle Joey: "Minding his own biznuss..."
Joey translating is the best thing ever
....
Joey's translation needs help. This would have been good with someone fluent in both languages translating. Joey is fluent in neither.
Raul Alonso
Just on the fact Joey Diaz put this together, YOU SHOULD RESPECT THAT, THIS MAN IS SHOWING THE WORLD AN ATHLETE WHO COULD WELL BE THE WORLD CHAMP IN A COUPLE MONTHS, IN A LIGHT WHO HAS NEVER SEEN BEFORE BECAUSE OF LANGUAGE BARRIERS!JUST APPRECIATE IT FOR WHAT IT IS.
thank you Joey Diaz for allowing mr. Romero for explaining his point of view.
The f*** is Google Translate doing? It's all we needed baby
Joey Diaz as interpreter. Tremendous.
Codigo doesn't mean Colleagues it means Code
if you see the replay round 2 01:15 in the match you clearly see tim holding he's gloves for sure. then by 1:08 on 2 round you can see tim once again using the tactic then hit Yoel.
I always see Yoel as the Mike Tyson of the MMA. I don't know, maybe his build. Knockout power maybe Francis, but Yoel is built like Mike Tyson.
His completely right once he explains his opponent has no leg to stand on unbelievable
as a fluent Spanish speaker Joeys translation cracks me up
Joey’s translation never fails to amaze me
2:45 why did Joey put that ‚fucking‘ in the translation hahahaha
Could we talk about how good a translator Uncle Joey is?
LMAO when joe answers Yoel's question with another question and Yoel looks at Joey and says "que dice?....."
alberto1690 wat que dice mean bro?
Euan Stirling he said in English "what did he say" but the way he said it was the funny part
@@alberto1690 "que diSe?" Suena agresivo y todo jajajaja Pensaba que era el unico q le sonaba raro y gracioso jajaja
Rogan loves the dude he’s always hyping him up
This is the best interview ever
I'm with Yoel on this one. But it's hilarious how he went to Spanish when he started to explain this. I'm Mexican and I understand but most people don't. It's like when you get caught stealing and your response is no habla engis' 😂
No it’s more like when you’re passionate about your side of the story.
Joey isn’t the best translator , but he added a whole entertainment value to this
Uncle Joey is a translator now. 😂
Check the video! Kennedy Most certainly pulled his glove down and hit him a bunch lol!!! That's fucked up. Kennedy trying to act like a bad ass and an honest guy but that's BS
Papillon659 this comment makes my head hurt 😂
I remember seeing the glove grab. Really obvious. I didn’t know that was cheating.
Papillon659 tim Kennedy is in the united states living his life like the rest of us lol😂 put your crack pipe down
Nigel Dean what’s funny is he’s commented that same shit on other people’s posts, dude is tweaking hard.
Reminds me of that scene from Ghost when Molly whispers into Whooppi Goldbergs ear lmfaoo
"He grabbed my glove so I sulked on the stool"
Miss me with that shit.
that fight was such a karma . kennedy cheating and rocking yoel, then thinking in 3rd round that he just needs to finish him off and gets clocked in first 10 seconds and beaten so badly that second head started to grow from his cheekbone lol
Meh... NOTHING will top the Ice incident.... EVER!!
"Oh wow, look at the all ice all over. We’ve got a problem. Someone spilled ice in the Octagon. That’s a big problem. That’s a lot of ice. This is gonna take some time.
They’re take the ice. They will take in a second. Our guys are working on it.
This is a disaster.
Come on. Let’s go! Let’s go! Let’s go!
Oh no, this is - look at that, they knocked the bucket over. This is The Three Stooges. What are you freaks doing? Everybody’s booing. Now there’s even more pressure. Oh, now they are sweeping it out. That’s good. Put it on the side and watch Arianny fall on her head.
You know what? This is Joe Rogan doing play by play of ice, being still beside the octagon.
There’s still ice. There’s still too much. Get back in there! You’re not done! There is ice all over the floor. What are these guys - they ran out though. I mean, we got a - there’s a hundred pieces of ice still in the floor. And these guys just scrambled out because of the pressure.
We need a Zamboni.
Oh let’s take a look at it, watch it. Here’s the bag. They get it on top of Ronys Torres’ back and watch the sucker open up, oh no! Oh, what a disaster. There’s ice everywhere. Those cornermen, somebody needs to kick their ass.
I can’t fight - and Ronys saying, I can’t fight with this ice here.
I’m looking at ice right here, I need to point it out. There’s a piece right there. There he gets it. I think he have already seen it."
How did you manage to type out exact quotes from this 😆😆
zack bop time
🤣🤣👏
Joey is hilarious with slipping his own words, into the conversation.....
Yoel and Uncle Joey is an amazing combination :)
This is exactly what I assumed was going on when I watched the fight live. The ref def said for Romero to sit back down and wipe the stuff off.
“He had two colleagues” 🤣
Yoel is saying they put to much Vaseline in his cut. cut man left and the doctor told him to stay. He didn't do anything wrong really.
You see the replay and effectively Tim grabs the glove bigtime
Joey with the bad translation
“Código de la calle” = rules of the street.
What toel is saying in the begging is there are street rules and mma rules. They both intertwine.
Joey translating got me dying lol
Yoel: if I stick my finger in your eye
Joey: if I stick my finger in your fucking eye
Now that I’ve watched the entire video, can someone tell me what he said?
When I read the title I honestly thought they meant poop when referencing stool!
8:32 A universal lesson, which I'll hold close to my heart.
joey has to brush up on his translating skills! to many death stars..
Joe : how are you Yoel?
Romero : no problem
Joey didnt pick up on Yoel mentioning excess vaseline he had and thats why mccarthy wanted him wiped down by the cutman
Lol, hearing Romero speak cracks me up. Takes me back to the Cuban days
Joey "the Godfather" Diaz
Tim cheated by holding his gloves and upper cutting him 8 times so Yoel took extra time to even the odds, it’s that easy and I’d say made it fair. It wasn’t even a close fight up until that point.
Can anyone tell me where to get that shirt Yoel is wearing? So dope haha
You got the mucles to rock it tho? Thats the real question
Cubans have insane genetics, African muscle and Latino testosterone.
If you can learn Spanish, a whole world opens. I found this to be true when I learned English. New understanding of culture, wise expressions, hilarious expressions and new friends. 🇺🇸🇦🇷🇺🇸🇦🇷
Why argentina?
Wow Yoel does think like a great lawyer asking Joe good questions!
i though romero was gonna explain why he shit himself 😂
The fact that, that actually happened...yep😂
Yoel said he lives by 2 codes, in the streets and in sports, word for word. Don't know how Joey missed that.
To anyone who speaks Spanish, how accurately is joey translating?
ham sandwich 7 out of 10 death stars.
ham sandwich it’s not translating, it’s interpreting. Translating is writing a document from one language to another.
mierda
Asher thanks for the knowledge bro. You know what I meant.
ham sandwich haha just thought I’d point it out :)
Hearing fat louie Interpret just makes this that much better!!! 🍕🍝🇮🇹
Somebody asked him about the other stoolgate - when he pooped his pants in the middle of a fight
The translator made it more difficult to understand 😂
Jesus “No for gay jesus” romero is a savage
Joey has an amazing radio voice. Hard velvet.
