I do own one. But what made the thing a bit funny for me from the start is that I live in the actual town of Oberhausen in Western Germany (210.000 inhabitants).
I can’t stop playing this thing. This is the synth I’ve always wanted and I can’t believe I have it in a plug-in that sounds even better than the original. Then there’s the fx... I could go on forever. Your patches sound great! Thank you for the video! Best wishes - Tim
This is actually being given away free right now through April 26th along with several other plugins at Plugin Alliance! The only negative with this synth is only having the ADR envelopes. Yes, it is historically accurate as to what the SEM had, but it would have been great to have an option to switch between the "correct" ADR envelopes and the now-standard ADSR. I also have their Knifonium plugin which is an absolute monster, but can be pretty overwhelming. bx_oberhausen is very simple to learn and is easy to get great sounds out of.
I tried bx_oberhausen and made a basic bass sound and tried to recreate it in another synth plugin, and bx_oberhausen sounded much better. Amazing sound! I also tried to make a sync lead but that was more difficult to make sound good (I probably have to practice more). I plan to try it for pads, keys etc and to check out the presets.
Ok. Can someone help. I do films and scoring. I have the native instruments stuff, trillian, sylynth, synth master. Would this or knif be a better selection
Download demos and try them - I think Oberhausen's brassy tone is great for cinematic productions. Knifonium has a filter that screams like no other software based synthesizer but that doesn't really equate to cinematic, but like all of these instruments, it can. It's more about which one give you the most goose pimples. I worked on the voicing for both of them and think they are both wonderful instruments but it's what resonants with you that is most important.
I bought this yesterday, beefy oscillators and an amazing filter! It's one of the best sounding VA software synths available. One thing that would make it even better, the ability to play chords when it's set to unison mode. Or, if it's possible, please tell me how please! Other than stacking tracks with the plugin of course :-)
We make a pretty incredible plug-in called Unify. You can add any audio, MIDI and Instrument plug-ins and use them in super cool ways. One of them is making any mono synth polyphonic with up to 16 notes of polyphony (and Unify is multi-core aware so each layer it committed to a single core allowing all of your computer power to be harnessed.) Lots of info here at our channel if you want a closer look. Thank you and yes, Oberhausen is a great sounding synth.
I wouldn't say this beats other synths, but this makes it getting to the sound you want easier. These plugins are getting so good now that they really are freeing us bedroom producers to be less technicians and more musicians.
I'm using Reaper 6 with a M-Audio Oxygen25 midi controller and all my other plug ins are working but I am getting no sound from the bx_oberhausen? Any advice? I'm showing a midi signal in Reaper. Thanks
@Cameran Wolfgramm I can't get any sound from this plugin at all. I'm using Reaper and a Roland EM-15 midi keyboard and everything I've tried has failed. I use Thorn or any other plugin and it just works. There is no activity with the red light but my track is receiving the midi in Reaper.
@@PleasantFail Thanks Linda. I just downloaded the plug in again in all formats and reinstalled it again. Read the manual through. Still no luck. Every other plugin from our subscription works great. All my other virtual instruments work fine. Can't figure it out. There's no activity up in the right top corner. I'm thinking this should flicker off & on as you play midi notes.

Great synth, just like the Knifonium and Thorn, each with their own character. Love these to the moon and back. A+++++
Bought this and forgot (I do this a lot lol) and just discovered it. This thing sounds insanely good. Filters are incredible.

What’s the song you played at 24:11?
wow, the LFO1 vs TMT thing is awesome!
TMT makes the SEM a lot more like an oberheim 8 voice. rad
33:23 - 34:50 wow, gave me chills
No, this is the top dog on the market hands down.
Thanks!
How does this compare to Arturia's SEM V?
There are comparison videos up by other people if you wish to hear them. Just do a search :D

Awesome. I like the way it sounds. The mic is fixed!!
Really amazing. Can other synths match this, if not why?

@@EuropaMan Maybe not helpful, but I'm using the latest version of Reaper on Win10 & Akai MPK mini and having no problems.
