Watercolor Daisies, How I Paint These Beautiful White Flowers - My Technique and Tips

  • In this video, I am painting these little white African Daisies. White was a challenge for me. White I found is never really white, but instead has hints of yellows, greys, pinks. I have found success in using a very watered down version of "payne's gray" by Winsor Netwon.
For the leaves, I use a "dabbing" of the tip of my brush, press down after drawing a thin line I combined, greens, cad yellow, and even some Prussian Blue! I then ensured I went in while each flower bunch was still damp and dabbed in with the point of my brush, some more Payne's Grey, right into the center of the flower and let it spread and blend for a beautiful shadowy look to the bast of the petals.
This tutorial may have some useful tips as well as "Simple and easy little Spring flowers". • Watercolor SIMPLE and ...
If you havent watched yet my Secret tips • Watercolor secret tips... it has some great tips on water control as well as my easy little lavenders • Watercolor EASY Lavend... which also uses this fun little "dabbing" technique. When you master your water control, you will feel more confident in your paintings and painting with this magical medium.

Good morning. I love this technicque so much. I'll never paint another flower any other way. I really love my Dagato brushes. They have two different sets and after I got the first one I ordered the other one. What a nice variety of brushes and a great price. I also love the Artisto paper. Thanks for the recomendations. It really helps to have the right teacher, brushes, paper and paints.

Wonderful Amanda, I'm trying to slow down my processes and think about the small little tricks, and techniques I automatically put into place! I've been painting for so so long; they just come without thinking. I'm so happy that I might have something fun for you as well! I too remember starting out so many years ago, and thinking there's so much to learn. I've had so many teachers and there are so many incredibly talented teachers, but I had to find ones that I resonated with, and liked their style :-) Happy painting Amanda! Thanks for stopping in. D

      For you to start- amzn.to/3MRq13R
I get asked a lot about it. I also am putting together a tutorial on Color Theory 101. Interesting fun fact, in college I was completely bored by color theory, wasn't until the last 10 years I became fascinated somewhat with color theory! They are really fun to make your own too. Happy painting Libby.

Yes it takes time for our brains to get that perception! its a little but of a habit shift for sure! You will all of a sudden go to draw this way, and it will feel easier and easier, and make more sense! Thats when you get excited, stand up and give yourself a high five! Yeah!
