- "Snow Monkeys" producer and cinematographer Joe Pontecorvo sought to capture the life of Japanese Macaques deep within the snow-covered mountains of Northern Japan, in a valley named Jigokudani, meaning "Hell Valley". Pontecorvo and his wife Nimmida Pontecorvo followed an individual snow monkey troop of over 160 members for over a year to truly get to know these fascinating creatures. Hands down the best nature doc I have ever seen. I watched it and then watched it about 5 more times to show other people. It’s not just the monkeys that were fascinating. The production quality is just amazing. This film is a true cinematic treasure. Thanks to those responsible for making it! Bravo!!!!!!
you guys deserve an a-plus-plus this was the best documentary that I have seen. I love the compassion you and your wife have for the Monkees. I left with a sense of having been on location with you guys and getting to know at least one of the Monkees ... baby hero. Great work guys keep those wonderful documentaries coming.
Wonderful ! とてもステキな動画でした。貴重な動画です。一度あのニホンザル達に会いにいってみたくなりました♪
That was one of thee best videos I have ever seen. Thank you for ALL the hard work you and your wife have done.

This is the most relaxing video my 5 yr old son who's on the spectrum enjoys. This is our nightly bedtime routine. Watching Snow Monkeys.
Great work. Just amazing.
This was a good video but wait until you see Kiyo in action. He lives with the snow monkeys at the park in Japan and the monkeys love him. He has some of the best videos ever and I have watched all of them several times and can’t get enough of them. Try out his videos on you tube and you will a thrill. He is the best.
This is one of my favorite documentaries, and there is nothing cuter than a baby snow monkey! :-) I wonder how Hiro is doing as an adult, could he one day become leader the troop? It would be so great if the Pontecorvos made another snow monkey film. Yes, we need a snow monkey movie sequel!
This is one of the greatest of all about these beautiful creatures. I fell in love with them from this movie and wish you guys would do a second movie to provide updates.

Why didn’t they return and do follow ups from various members ? I wanted to follow along with the Alfa male and his bond with hiro as well as the other macaques that were featured.
