Believe me these machines are a revolution for North Wales! Finally we are getting some decent trains that you can hear yourself think on. These are an amazing improvement. Now all we need is for the Government to deliver long promised Electrification of the North Wales Coast network so we can run them electric all the way and replace the diesel modules with the new battery module that Hitachi is testing. True trains of the future. AVANTI now you have stock, drivers and new trains give us back our hourly direct services to London Euston.
Just watched an other video of the first new train going in the opposite direction (Lonod via Stafford) and that had the silly echo on the announcements too! (The crew had said they didn't know how to turn it off).
It was 10 cars to Holyhead, 5 back. Definitely got quite busy, although they've got 46 more standard seats than the voyagers. Apparently, the 807s will have 34 more standard seats than a 9 car 390.
An interesting video, and alot of knowledgeable observations in the interesting comments , way beyond my ken ( child of the 50s 😮) , but as there were no passengers I presume this was a test run for the Hitachi ( the on board announcement) - also I had been looking forward to going by Caernarfon Castle and crossing Telford's Menai Bridge - ? And Llandudno Junction a great hub of steam engine activity in those far off days . Thank you All.
True, its still basically the same thing they've been doing with the voyagers for the past 20 years. I overheard staff on board complaining about ride quality compared to the 221s ("I miss the tilt") but at least they're bi-mode and more spacious.

The Best Hitachi Bullet Train Name For Avanti West Coast!

They were having feedback issues with the PA, it kept making high pitched whistling noises until they solved it somehow
Shame that it’s only 5-Car but still the Class 805s are very nice trains. Can’t wait to see the Class 807s coming into service later this year.

Ah right 👍

Not a test run, they're in service!
Thanks for clarifying 👍
I haven’t seen it in person yet
They definitely look better in person
Is it my imagination or is the interior lighting less ferocious than on the GWR 800 units??
It's nice to see TOCs actually responding to feedback lol
12:53 is that RAF Valley?
Yep, you can see the hawk gate guardian for a split second
You appear to be travelling in 1st class?
Nope, that's standard class
I think these trains need to have the same carriages as the pendolino like 9 or 10 carriages not 5
There seems to be a trend of making 5 car 80x units, like with the EMR auroras. I'd prefer 9 cars personally
Same here LNER got lucky
5 cars are similar to what they had as voyagers, the 7 cars (807) are the same capacity as a pendolino
Moan moan BLOODY MOAN 🥱🥱
Its just the interiors look utterly depressing. Who on earth thought having bland white walls were a good thing?
You make the interior and design it yourself if you think it’s that easy
Need to be 7 car minimum. 5 car not enough, and pairing them to make 10 car means double manning(apart from drivers). Awful uncomfortable things. JG.

OH GIVE OVER MOANING !!! Avantis are better 805/7 and
More comfortable !!!
80x series is for semi fast too not just express.
i miss the voyagers already...
Same! 😢
They still are in service on the North Coast. It's just a few that are the new 805s so far but that will change in the near future
@@Usenowgamerdon’t forget the 807 soon
What and the smelly loos?
