The question is why do your fireteams bunch up so much they can be kept under effective fire from a inferior force? Making a 9 man team squad to two small area targets doesnt make sence. Make them 9 point targets. It automatically works like a half flanking maneuver without even actually flanking. So if the spacing is correct concentrating your force can make much sence since its much more likely you will locally overwhelm the enemy. If you let a bunch of lone wolfs skirmish all other angles so the enemy is forced to keep a 360°, thinning out the enemies defence line even further its easy to get the upper hand. Thats called defeat in detail and it worked time and times again for me.
to simplify giving this instruction to pubs i usually separate my squads by the type of weapons they have, most people understand this concept but putting it into practice in pub games and in general tactics in fps online is cat herding so knowing how to do this simply is the bigger battle
Its all about your squads abilities and the other squad abilities. Your squad can do good but what you accomplish means nothing if the other squads cant hold. Also its about how you use your squads fire support roles. Use your fire support roles to counter theirs. Most people likes to rush without bounding.

There are better methods to engage and destroy the enemy depending on range terrain and urban environment. If you have fire support (mortars, BTR's and AFV's) call it in if you have a squad element close to you have them assist. sometimes if they ambush you disengage and re engage on your terms and don't get sucked into a losing fight where you dont know where fire is coming from. also squad and buddy rushes could help is you have to assault. you can literally read the orders and documents of war fighting from the USMC on the internet.
i find a lot of squad leads will try to do this but do it in such a way that they're always sprinting out ahead of everybody and expecting everybody to be directly behind them at all times rather than moving the squad first and them selves last, the number of times i've seen the whole squad wiped and the squad leader is yelling at people to go kill that thing that killed him is astounding
mosseon you have no idea how many times ive seen that happen. Had a squad lead bitch at us for communicating on comms. His reasoning is that he has other SLs talking as well as people on TeamSpeak. Hmm well maybe you should mute team speak in the middle of a round lol. Dont get mad at us for communicating while youre not even paying attention to the situation.
