Hi Dr Hunnay! I have a question to ask about maternity leave in a trust grade/jcf job as an IMG? If you have spent at least a year in the nhs and you move to another trust for your second year and you get pregnant are you able to take mat leave and return to the same job if you have say a 1 year contract?? I’m asking for myself as I am thinking of number 2 and I am unsure of what that would mean for my job as i’m not yet in training… thnx in advance.
Yes, absolutely. Your trust would have to renew your contract if it would expire after your 25th week of pregnancy to enable you take your full 52weeks. After the leave, it’s up to them to decide if they still want you to resume or not… either ways you can start searching for a new job during your leave so that you won’t be blind sided even if they decide not to renew your contract
