- Kith teamed up with Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation and New Balance to release two beautiful colourways of the 998 silhouette, inspired by Wright's Broadacre City concept. These two 998s are Made in USA, featuring a mix of earthy tones in pigsuede and hairy suede, mesh and more. I'm really surprised there's not more hype for these. I guess not many NB fans are also architecture fans like myself. Also newer NB fans might not know about the 998. But I'm happy to have won the Apricot pair from Kith and am considering getting the Chutney pair I lost since resale is super low. I bet they'd look good mismatched
Apricot pair came in today for me. Unexpectedly great, especially on feet. I also got the Action Bronson V6s in this week which i was much more excited for - the 998s blow them away. These just fit so well with a variety of outfits.

@@Lucconyeah I got the 10 anniversary c notes and lapis bronsons. I love both. Slightly like the look of the c notes more. But the v6's are way more comfortable. And still look great imo
Got the Apricot delivered this weekend and I love them! The box is great, colors are beautiful, materials were nice. I love these and can’t wait to wear them
The Apricot is FIRE 😮truly a great combination of fall colours. The price was the reason why I did not go for them… but I’m starting to regret it, but my wallet is not 😅
Both are so 🔥. Im more a fan of the bright colors on the apricot but the way the color blocking is on the chutney is also soo nice. Having the same dilemma, can't decide between the two!
Great review, Sean, as always. Was able to win raffles for both pairs. Having a hard time to decide which one I like better. NB and Ronnie knocked this collab out of the park.

regarding this release, I decided to go only for 1 colorway due to the expensive retail price and went for the apricot. Now I think that the chutney might be sliightly better mainly because as it was mentioned in the video, the apricots cw is suitable mainly for spring/summer.
both colorways are fire! sizing tips are helpful.
I was so lucky to win both in the raffle . Today i received them in the mailI was and I was impressed with both pairs . But the apricot colorway really blew me away 🤯and the winner 🏆 I guess bc I’m a big fan of the hairy suede specially in NBs . Will keep both for sure ! .

I ended up securing both in the raffle. My heart was set on Chutney and I agree, in person I think it gets the edge slightly. The harshness of the toebox colour just pops so nicely, whereas the apricot is a little more harmonious with that shoe's blocking. Common Made in USA dub for quality.
I like the less saturated colors on the Apricot. Can't wait for my pairs to get in.
Great review, and agree on the materials. Ronnie knocked it out with these. I was lucky enough to get the Apricot pair at the Scottsdale pop-up, and then hit the Chutney in the raffle. A really great collab, and one of my favorite shoes of 2023 thus far. Love the rope laces!

I got both pairs of these 998s! One for me and another for my friend. I personally love the chutneys more; they’re great on feet. I think the 998s are my favorite NB silhouette besides the 574s ❤
Circa 2016 there was an NB release of Made in UK models called the Yard Pack: very similar colorways - absolutely superb.
I love mix matching mine. It’s a Franky Boy Write look!

Really nice colorways! The 998 model also looks really classic and sporty at same time. I wouldn't dish out more than retail for them, but overall great looking shoes.
I initially loved the Chutney, but towards the end of the video, I started to like the Apricot more to be honest. It’s fairly even you can’t go wrong with either
I like the material blocking on the Chutney pair more, but the Apricot colorway just hits different, especially with the rope laces. Both pairs are fire with the rope laces

Apricot sold out quicker and seem more limited. Ronnie wore the Apricots to the release day in Japan. But I agree, the chutney pair just has more harmony in the colors. They stood out to me and was happy to cop them retail off Kith.
I was torn between these two colorways. I entered the raffle for both, and let the app decide haha. It gave me Apricot, which is kinda more my vibe. Thx universe. 😅

As someone that went TTS, I don't really regret it. I have about a thumbs width of room past my big toe but it's still snug around my foot width wise even though I don't have wide feet.
yeah i prefer less than a thumbs width space. index fingers width is ideal
I couldn’t decide on these for the raffle, but went for the chutney pair but took and L. I’m gonna go for the release on NB website, but I may have to go with both on these. Thanks Sean for always putting a great perspective on the details, cheers!

I got the Apricot pair, but typically I now feel like I should have gone for the chutney haha. I was unsure what to wear with the apricot pair, but you saying it's a good summer pair made me think, it would look best with shorts

I figured the heel had to be from the og, since this is the 30 year anniversary, but I couldn't find any pictures to confirm.
I got my normal size, which is usually a little snug for some brands but perfect for new balance. I hope the fit isn't an issue.

I love these but I’m not getting them anytime soon. So if they’re out of stock, so be it. Hopefully they are generous with new 998 color ways. I haven’t had a pair before, only a collection the 997h.
I only entered raffle for the Apricot pair and I am glad I caught a W, and this is the one I preferred. It’s interesting that the shaggy suede on my pair is more hairy than Salehe’s 990V2, and both the orange and green suede are paler than I expected.

Fortunately I was able to get both pairs from kiths raffle as well and when I got them in I was amazed but unfortunately this model doesn’t look right on me 😢

Been waiting for years for NB to drop some 998s had to cop now cause I know 6 months from now they’ll be $500 plus
Fire, but I'm saving my money for the 990v6 action bronson collab coming out, way better colorway than the first ones.
What I don't like about the Ronnie crossovers is apparently they don't make em in 12.5. Just 12 or 13. Yet the lapis pair I bought and c notes came in 12.5. But those were my first 2 pairs so I bought 13 thinking they'd fit the same as my Adidas. I still wear them, but there's definitely a little more than my thumbs width of room. So I could continue do that with the apricots and msg ones, but I really want a more perfect fit to really get a sense of how these shoes can feel. It's really unfortunate. I'm wondering if 12 would fit considering how much room I'm saying there is on my size 13's. But I wouldn't want to make a mistake of getting something too small

Unfortunately my chutney pair came with inconsistant panels. One of the fuzzy ones, just wasn't fuzzy at all. What a shame, since I love the colorway otherwise. Now they're sold out and NB can't replace the faulty pair apparently.

Do these new 998s fit any different than older 998s? I recently bought the Premier 998 that came out in 2015, and I heard that pre-2016 998 models run a slight bit longer.
nope these fit me long as well. that’s why i went half down just like past 998s

Personally I think the Chutney is more well balanced. And 100% agree on this reminding me of old school classic NB collabs. The colors seem a lot more intentional and well put together than alot of these new mid low effort collabs ** cough * Joe Fresh goods * cough * JJJound *

Quality looks awesome, but honestly the same quality that you can also find in other NB's more cheaper line up/collabs. Lack of kith/fieg branding deterred me from copping these
I prefer when you review the shies q at a time. The reviews are more focused these seem all over the place even the 860v2 review

I also got both pairs via the Kith Raffle. I agree with your take on the quality of the two pairs. However, it's very hard for me to keep both pairs as the imposed Customs Tax here in the Philippines (around 5,300 PHP/126 SGD/94 USD PER PAIR) adds a huge chunk to my expenses.
