Garbodor got lucky when Fairy types were introduced. I'd be happy if i gained access to Poison Jab, Thunder Punch(gets Thunderbolt and Drain Punch), Earthquake, Nasty Plot, Rock Slide(gets Smack Down), Stone Edge, Bulldoze, Foul Play, Throat Chop, Knock Off, and Brick Break. I wish that Weak Armor was replaced with either Poison Touch or Corrosion. The Recycle set could also benefit from using Belch.
Garbodor is interesting, as even before the buffs, he was actually still pretty feasable. Decent movepool, usable strength... I was even debating on using it in my Black 2 run once, but setteled for Grimer. Also, loving that shiny!
@@shanethebrownwolf5575 that's kind of the same idea why Ludicolo can learn fire punch. which would probably work better on garbodor then flamethrower anyways
The wacky sets that you come up with really inspire me as a Trainer. I love it so much, thanks for giving all the unnoticed Pokémon attention and coming up with potentially viable sets for them. Keep it up Foofoo!
Garbodor needs more than anything a new poison and steel type evolution, allowing it to hold an eviolite, as well as a +20 buff to its hp. That and its own signature move; trash pile, a poison type hazard laying move that acts as toxic spikes and sticky web, wherein one layer inflicts poison and one stage of speed reduction, and two layers inflict toxic poison and two stages of speed reduction. Z-trash pile would reverse lowered stats on top of that.
I love you're showing some battle prowess and love for Garbodor. This Pokémon takes a lot of heat for its design, but I like its design. I think it gets a bad rap.
I actually used a garbodor for my mono unova team for the simple symphony tournament global link hosted and it putted in so much work! Mine was spdef with enough attack to guarantee ohko standard sylveon and with haze, set up tspikes which work well with set up reuniclus and subseed serp, and with haze it always stop z porygonz and eevoboost in its tracks. Got no 1 in the US with it
Even without a Steelium Z-Crystal you can get +1 Attack/Defense/Speed in only 2 turns (1 Curse + 1 Autotomize) and potentially use a different Z-Crystal for more power or a pinch berry for better longevity. In fact you can use Autotomize first, take a hit and then use Z-Curse to restore your lost HP and get the +1 Attack/Defense boost while still maintaining +1 speed. If it's late in the game and you have hazards up and a weakened opponent, having full HP and +1 to everything might be better than being weakened and at +2.
@@TheLPcollector No, Z-Curse gives an extra +1 attack to non-Ghost types, so it effectively gives +2 attack, +1 defence, -1 speed. It's really fun as a setup move for Tyranitar in Trick Room teams, because Brave Tyranitar underspeeds minimum base 40 speed pokémon after a single Curse, and with Curse boosting physical defence, Sandstorm boosting special defence, and EVs in its HP (since you're not investing speed), it becomes really bulky, and at +2 attack it hits very hard.
@@TheLPcollector Oh lame. But looking at Bulbapedia it appears the alternate affect for non-ghosts is that you get +2 attack so this could still really work in your favor. You could get +2 Attack, +1 Defense and +1 Speed in 2 turns vs. +2/+2/+2 with FooFoo's plan but it takes 3 turns at minimum. If you only need +2 attack for a sweep, then doing it sooner is likely to be better. Ultimately it depends on the pokemon your oponent has. If 1.5x speed lets you outspeed all the major threats, I'd go with Ghostium Z. If you need the extra speed then maybe try Steelium Z but you NEED your opponent to make enough mistakes to buy yourself an extra turn to set up.
@YonderGaming It sounds like a good strategy but also a bit overkill. For any tier you'd use Garbodor in, you just can't reasonably expect to ever need more than +3 speed and +2 is probably going to be enough 99.9% of the time. So with your strategy I think you'd be better off just skipping Automotize and using that move slot for something else. If you pack Spite you can potentially use your Ghostium-Z to refill your HP after taking some hits, plus you could deplete precious PP from some of those powerful 8 PP moves. You could also use Pain Split to have a reusable, albeit less consistent heal. Spikes would be my other suggestion so you can get some use out of Garbedor if he's facing an enemy he can't do anything against (I dunno, Skarmory or Claydol maybe?).
I love when you cover my favorite Pokémon!! I fell in love with garbodor/trubbish from the XY anime they’re so ugly they’re adorable 💚💙 but it’s great to know these buffs, thanks!!

Keep up the good work man, your videos keep me entertained as I am healing my toe.
Still waiting for Sudowoodo. It gained Head Smash as a level up move in Sun and Moon, and it hits very hard with the Rock Head ability it already had. Also fun in Trick Room with Curse sets (or Z-Curse).
@@naturalharmoniagropius4486 Idk, can't speak for her. But despite the buff Sudowoodo is still a bit meh. It's really slow so it needs Trick Room, and its special bulk is just bad which isn't all that nice in the doubles environment which is quite special focused due to Intimidate being everywhere. Tyranitar can also run Z-Curse under Trick Room (it underspeeds minimum base 40s after a single Curse) and it just has much better stats to work with, especially special defence. Its Rock Slide won't hit as hard as Sudowoodo's Head Smash (which OHKOs essentially everything that doesn't resist it at +2), but it does hit both opponents and causes flinching, and it's enough to get most foes down to yellow health. Tyranitar is so sturdy after Curse + Sandstorm that it can even take most super effective hits without too much worry, as long as they're not fighting moves, making it a lot more reliable.

I anticipated what his level might be that gym, and he ended up at level 49. Needless to say I easily stomped him with Garbodor alone. Man were those good times.

I actually love that curse/autotomize set. Might try it on something else though
It seems to me that Curse + Weak Armour would be a better way to go about it. Curse + z-automotise would get you to +1 attack/+1 def/+2 speed, but it also takes 2 turns to set up and costs your item slot.
Curse + Weak Armour requires you to take a hit, but Garbodor is relatively bulky, so it can probably take /a/ hit from most things. Additionally, both its weaknesses are types with immunities. So Pokemon that might switch in to try to OHKO it could in turn get switched into for free by a dark (Psychic pokemon) or flying/levitate (Ground Pokemon), and with the psychic types, the penalty for doing so is pretty significant since that dark type can be a pursuit trapper.
Then if you wanted to be extra safe about it and want to not risk the chance of being OHKOd, you could run a Focus Sash using the freed up item slot. Personally though, I'd rather just accept that weakness and run a Z-Crystal in that slot instead.
