  • There are three main ways to produce gypsum (plaster of Paris) covings or moldings manually.
    1) Pour into silicone mold.
    2) Pull the back of the cornice with a template on top the lying finished mold of the front side of cornice.
    3) Pull the front side of the cornice with a template, on top of the lying finished mold of back side of cornice.
The third method is common in Russia.
First, a mold is made of gypsum on the table, the front side of which is the back side of the produced gypsum coving.
In Russia we call this mold many names. Like "underlay thing", "ingot (means blanc, billet)" or "scythe peening little anvil'. Really funny.
The mold is given time to dry, and then strengthened by soaking in liquid varnish. The varnish also helps to remove the finished gypsum coving smoothly, easily, without damaging the mold.
Immediately before the manufacture of the cornice, the mold is lubricated, providing easier removal of the finished gypsum molding. Also, the lubricant helps to clean the mold of residues and splashes of gypsum, protects the mold from destruction.
Before applying gypsum, a grid is laid in the mold for reinforcing the cornice.
The cornice itself is pulled out, maded, by the template of front side .
For transportation of finished products, they can be folded with opposite front sides inwards, if the cornice pattern allows you to do so.
We will be glad if this is interesting to someone!

So what suggestion if I live in United States? Need a gypsum like yours that dries quick and hardens. Thank you so much for your reply this far.

How long does it take to dry out fully? Mines still damp to the touch after a day?

Enjoyed to see. It would be interesting to know how you make the profile tool and the half tube thing that you poured the plaster in.

А какой способ проще: протяжка на стене или изготовление готовых элементов, которые нужно крепить? Спасибо

You’re doing it backwards 🤡, you’re not showing me you ‘run’ every section like that are you ? Run it in reverse once , make a plaster mould and cast it properly, this is ridiculous
