Any moves to retake Constantinople would come from Orthodox Christians, not American Protestants. After all, Constantinople, "The City", before that known as Byzantium, was Orthodox.
Think about it. What would be the result of Pyles following up on that, even if he were able to get Brooks to talk about it. It would reflect badly on PSU and the NLWC. How would Cael and company feel about that, and more importantly to Pyles, how would they feel about giving Pyles and FLO future access to their programs and wrestlers? I guess you weren't around a number of years ago when Pyles seemed to suggest some action for PSU on the part of Cael during an interview, and Cael responded with "Do you have a plan?", shutting Pyles up immediately and embarrassing him. Pyles is on eggshells around Cael, PSU and NLWC. He knows that he needs access, as we're talking about the top NCAA program as well as the most important training center and club for Senior Men's Freestyle. Look at the Final X results: there will be 5 NLWC wrestlers representing the US at Worlds. NLWC provides 50% of the US team, and that doesn't even mention that the NLWC had three wrestlers (Gilman, Nolf, Brooks) who did NOT win. Pyles is all about continued access.

Good old Holy Spirit underhooks. I keep telling myself no more Brooks awkward ass interviews and then I give it one more try and no… just no . I did have to keep it on a bit longer after Pyles said “oh snap.”. Then to Pyles credit, he says , “ok but from a technical standpoint…” which we translation for “will you please stop with this repetitive religious mumbo jumbo that tells everyone absolutely nothing and speak about wrestling?” Good on Pyles for trying but of course it was unsuccessful as we were immediately redirected right back to God and the holy spirit. At this point may as well not even be interviewed. I mean it will never be about technique or coaches or strategy. It will just be a generic-repetitive transcript. Brooks is a beast and not saying he is a bad guy at all, just has interviews that certainly are not everyone’s cup of tea.
As a Christian parent of a young wrestler I am quite thankful for this young man. He is one of the best but instead of singing a chorus of "me, me, me" he gives all his credit to God. We all know it is his hard work and coaches that got him there but he knows it is God who gives him the ability to even step on the mat. When I see the decay of society I am proud and thankful to see a young man put God first. I'm glad my little dude has someone like this to watch. His mission is bigger than wrestling and it is to lead people to Christ. With more practice and experience I'm sure he will become as good at it as he has at wrestling. Every Christian should use their platform to point to Christ whether you are wrestler, baseball player, or greeter at Walmart. He is simply following the last commandment given by Jesus. In time he will round off the edges and become more eloquent, until then I'mjust thankful he tries. I would think a world full of young men like him would be a much better world indeed.
Does anyone know what he meant about the who was in whos corner for the Olympics? I thought that was interesting but I can't remember who got hosed at the Olympic trials.
I wish Aaron Brooks would wake up and realize that he is NOT the only one blessed by God with skills, faith and excellence in wrestling. As a matter of fact, I wish Brooks would understand that Hassan Yazdani is as devout a worshipper of God as Aaron is, and like Brooks, Yazdani believes that ALL his gifts related to wrestling comes from God. Brooks' attitude reeks of exceptionalism, and it's a really bad look. Go ahead, Aaron, beat DT at Final X and then we can see at Worlds who has the better underhooks. Brooks is an excellent wrestler, and I'm a big PSU fan, but if it's Yazdani vs. Brooks, my money is on Yazdani. And my money is on DT for Final X, in two matches.
