  • Join me on an exciting journey in "Rock Tumbling 101: A Beginner's Guide to Polished Rocks" as I tumble stunning green rocks for my daughter's aquarium! In this tutorial, I demonstrate the step-by-step process of tumbling and polishing rocks, revealing mesmerizing before and after results.
    Initially attempting to polish rocks straight from the beach, I encountered challenges, realizing the polished-only look wasn't what we desired. I restarted the process with the following stages:
    Stage 1: 60/90 grit for 7 days (repeat as needed)
    Stage 2: 120/220 grit for 7 days (repeat as needed)
    Stage 3: Aluminum oxide 500 pre-polish for 7 days
    Stage 4: Aluminum oxide 1,000 polish for 10 days (repeat as needed for desired polish)
    Throughout this video, I share essential tips and insights gained from my experience, ensuring you achieve the perfect polished rocks for your projects. Whether you're new to rock tumbling or looking to refine your skills, this beginner's guide provides everything you need to know.
    TUMBLE ON!! 😁👍🪨⛏️

    As a lover of green rocks, your daughter is going to love them, even the dull polished ones look great ❤ I just checked on my tumblers in the garage and they were frozen solid 😂 oops, time to move them indoors 🤦‍♂️ great video!

      Yes, thank you!! Loooove green rocks, too!! OMG, that's crazy your tumblers are frozen. Were the machines still running and barrels rolling? Stay warm!! 😁👍🏻🪨⛏️

    Do you ever use the ceramic filler to even out loads and add extra cushion for the tumble ?

      @CacklingChick  8 днів тому

      Howdy, Dennis! 👋🏻 I do, for those very reasons. I did it with the wannabe obsidian, which turned out to be mostly basalt. Really helps a lot. Do you use ceramic media or just playing around with it? Tumbling definitely has a learning curve with so many variables from rock hardness to the preferred final look. TUMBLE ON!! 😁👍🏻🪨⛏️

    Hello why you polished this stones what is end of this process?

    • @CacklingChick
      @CacklingChick  4 місяці тому

      I polished them because I think rocks are prettier when they have that wet look. The end pocess is when they are polished, which is stage 4 of the rock tumbling process. Does that help?

    How many hours does the engine run continuously? Do you provide breaks? Thanks

    • @CacklingChick
      @CacklingChick  7 місяців тому +1

      Hello there! All rock tumblers are made to run continuously. Most feel hot to the touch, like my Lortone 33Bs, but that's normal. The only time they stop is when a tumbling stage is done, which is usually a minimum of 7 days. Let me know if you have more questions! Happy to help! TUMBLE ON! 😃👍🏻🪨💦
