this is very interesting! well I am Muslim and many of My Muslim mom friends use TGTB, and we love it! like you said, it is God centered so it works for us just like any other family with a faith that leads to God. God and our faith are big parts of our daily lives, and we include what we believe in while we use TGTB curriculum. It is up to the parent to use it however they want, add and take away from it to your needs, and I honestly appreciate that about this curriculum.

I think that is the beauty of homeschooling overall, just being able to make it your own. Whatever you are using or doing, make it work for your family, you know?

Takeaway: “Don’t be fooled that just because because something doesn’t specifically say Jesus that you can’t make it about Jesus.” Amen and amen!

Thank you for your video. I agree with everything you said and do really like their curriculum. My oldest is going to be on Level 4 math and I have heard that some kids don’t do as well with the spiral method as the math gets harder so I’m keeping my mind open about that and will see how he does if I need to switch math. I do love that it’s visually appealing. I get overwhelmed very easily looking at other curriculum options and even though not many of my closer homeschooling friends use TGATB I do not let that bother me and keep doing what fits for us now. God Bless you!!

I agree with everything you said! This is actually our first year using it, and I’m only using it with my fourth grade daughter. It has taken a HUGE burden off of me, knowing she is getting an excellent LA education that she can do on her own, as I have her younger sister to teach and a baby to take care of. As for the LDS part, that was a red flag for me for a long time, years really; but it finally occurred to me that I have been using mostly secular curriculum this whole time and weaving Christ in, so this would be a very similar venture. Another issue for people (me included), is that when you buy this, your money is going toward the LDS church indirectly. But again, I realized my money goes a lot of places I don’t necessarily like. I’m very happy I took the jump!

One more thing…I tried looking at the “Christian equivalent” to TGTB and it doesn’t even come close. If a Christian publisher would make something as good, I might consider buying.

Yes! I know that not everyone will agree with me, and that's fine, but I love the money comment...I wish I would have put that in there, come to think of it.

We are using TGATB this year. My son is starting Kindergarten, and my daughter with their preschool. I am excited because the K level and up are free (we are a 1 income family), so we invested in a printer to print it all. We are excited to try it since my son liked the preschool book so much. I planned to do devotions and Bible in the morning too.

I use the PDF and we go through the book on a tablet. I use a stylus for the writing portions. If there are any pages that need to be cut out, we print those out. I think printing the whole book out might be quite costly.

We use TGAB and in our family we have the conversation that it's not called, The Good, the True, and the Beautiful." The curriculum is what it says it is... it's our job as parents to teach the "True."

We love The Good and the Beautiful. We are Baptist.
Spoiler alert….. we personally know a Mormon and they are not monsters. And the Mormon we know DOES believe Jesus is God, And they believe in the trinity and they believe in salvation just like we do. They even read the KJV bible. I think most people have just googled Mormon and they have a very broad view of the people. There are extremists in every religion. I can give you a list of baptists who are way off from the Bible. Yes even some famous leaders in the Baptist world. Doesn’t mean we all are. Now I do think Mormons are off from the Bible in some areas, areas that aren’t in the curriculum. But I don’t believe all baptists are 100% right on the Bible either. I just believe it’s the closest I have found so that’s where I go to church.
Also I’ve heard Jenny Phillips testimony and it’s great. 🤷🏼‍♀️

      But, Mormonism is heresy.

Just something to think about from one Christian to another... Mormons are definitely not monsters. They are very often good people who live their lives according to many biblical values. I have many family members and some friends who are Mormon and am very familiar with the actual beliefs and practices of the church.
That said, they absolutely do not believe in the Jesus of the Bible and do not consider the Bible to be the absolute true Word of God (it is considered the least accurate of their four Holy texts, the others written after the founding of their religion in 1820s in order to "correct" the Bible). Mormons do not believe there is one God, Jesus and Holy Spirit but that there are millions of planets with gods ruling over them, and that each planet has a savior, etc., and that each man has the opportunity to become a god in the next life on his own planet. They are a polytheistic religion with many, many beliefs that are far and away NOT Christian.
What you have written above reflects what the everyday Mormon is directed to tell people who are outside the church. I don't blame you at all for thinking these things are true, for all outward appearances and what your Mormon friend has likely said, you have been lead to believe it. That is how the church manages to be palatable to the world, by lying about their real teachings. They push that they are a Christian religion, when the truth is they are not.
None of this is to attack Mormons or to say anything personally about Jenny Phillips. It is to shed light on the truth of the matter so that Christians like you aren't fooled and don't spread the falsehoods they've been told about the Mormon Church. I really recommend doing a deep dive into what I've told you. "As man is, god once was. As god is, man may become." That was said by one of the early church presidents and remains a core tenant of the Mormon Church: if you're not sure about anything I've said there is a good place to start doing research.
There is a lot of good information out there, not just crazy, angry attacks on a seemingly innocent group of people. Maybe what you learn could lead you to opening up your Mormon friend to the true Jesus. How wonderful would that be!
      God bless you.
