Man, I've been playing drums for 30 years now, but something about the way you break this stuff down had proven so helpful to me, even on songs I thought I 'knew' - like this one. Viewing this once, I'm already playing it better than I ever have before...thanks.
I have played this song a number of times when younger normally filling in for old time drummers for the cash but just realised I have been playing it wrong all these years as I never listened to the original so I played it as doubles with R L RR accents and then back to the doubles. This is why I like all these different drum lessons. If only they had been around when I was gigging.
Do do i play bar 1 four times then bar 2 three times?? Just want to make sure bc I’m a guitarist an can play this song on guitar an now want to learn it on drums
I can this song on guitar but now I want to learn it on drums so can someone tell me how many times bar 1 is played before bar 2 an how many bar 2 is played? I believe it’s bar 1 four times an bar 2 three times but I wanted to make sure
The original beat was all paradiddles, with double paradiddles as variation to change accent positions. It can be played as singles, but it is not how it was done originally, and the sound of the rhythm is not the same with singles.
I read about it some years ago on the web- I think it was a forum. I didn't believe it, so I did a Google search, and found the original drum chart, or probably a copy of the original. The paradiddle sticking came up elsewhere as well. From memory, it's single paradiddles, then double paradiddles where the accents change. If you listen to the original recording, these stickings definitely fit the rhythm, and it does sound different to using singles, which is how most drummers play it. Whoever the drummer was, he had chops! All the best, Jon
Mate it’s not paradiddles ok it’s singles trust me I played this song before and listened to it many times I’ve been playing drums for 15 years there’s no paradiddles. At first it sounds like that but it’s not 🤗😋
Good vid but is there a variation of the beat? What I mean is, the accenting on the toms goes likes this at first XxxxXxxxXxxxXxxxXxxxxxXxxxxxXxxx So the last three are 664 But is there some part where it goes 646 Like this, XxxxXxxxXxxxXxxxXxxxxxXxxxXxxxxx
Srivikram Sundararajan Yes, there are some subtle variations in the song itself. But the lesson shows you the main part played throughout the majority of the song. You can take the combinations Alex has shown in the video and mix them up to play any combination you hear in the song. Have fun! Rob

If you are right hand, is the right hand supposed to do the accent. If you left handed is the left which does the accent?

niceo video but the link to the drum notation doesn't work.... :-(
Where is the rest of the song?
is this good for beginners?
Yes, I would say so. You might find it a little stiff when you first start, but then that is what practice is for! :)

How do you know this, Jon? Can you show me where you found this out from please?

He says the 2nd measure accents are on the & of 2 and the & of 4...yet he plays it on the & of 2 and on the 4! I'm confused! Any help?
It's played on beat 4. I'm sure Alex just slipped up there with the count.

the secret to playing wipeout is the right sticking.notice alex changes the sticking by adding the double hit on beat 7.
