As a small, tiny channel, (but with a faithful, tight knit community,) I answer every last one of my comments. I don't know that this really helps. Although I'm sure my viewers appreciate knowing that I'm reading and responding to their comments, and/or answering the questions. One thing I've noticed is that people rarely reply to other viewers comments as I see them doing in many other videos. Do you know if this helps videos get more views?

I believe UA-cam is looking at the comments to both understand the video a bit more and also to see the overall feedback, etc. Interaction and returning viewers is something that UA-cam finds valuable. Also, I believe they use the comments to filter out those who just spam out videos like robots, etc.
I also feel like people don't return to a comment tread, so questions you answer don't get another question foreksempel. That is something that will be better over time, hopefully ☺️
