    It really covers all the USB protocols and displays the quality of the power supply with the o'scope!
    Thank you for the detailed review of this device!

      i use fans on the PD mode (other brand) but to acces the high voltage part you had to disconnect and select the device countlessly clicking to the desired voltage :P this seems so easy !!

    Very clever device. Showing the available charge rates is a quite useful function. The scope function is interesting. The ripple from various devices has in the past created problems with some of my MCU projects. Another very helpful video. This device is listed on Amazon, but at twice the aliexpress pricing.

    PE+ means "Pump Express". And you should do an update to your device. Then it can detect QC 4+, too.
    With the Cable Resistance Detection I sorted out about 30 shitty USB cables and only keep the good ones. Most of the cables delivered with a device are just garbage, but there were some positive surprises, too.

      Am I right in thinking that the 'resistance' is the sum of the resistances on the GND and Vbus lines?

    • @kapegede
      @kapegede 11 місяців тому

      @@Brian_Of_Melbourne No, it's just the resisitance of the wires 5 volt and ground. On the bus lines floats almost no current.

    The cable resistance measurement is very inaccurate. I compared it to measurements with a milli-ohmmeter that i have, and as a matter of fact, the FNB58 shows values that deviate by up to 200% error from the real value. Bayond that, measuring the current is done with a shunt, and that does have repercussions to the measurement. The value of the shunt is 10 mOhm. For a measurement device it would be important to know that, but it is nowhere mentioned in documentation. To be fair, other, cheaper such "measurement" devices have even higher shunt values, which makes them reallly crab. 10 mOhm is not a really bad value for such an application, but ideal would be a current sensor with µOhm, which are available today.

    14:00 PD 100W? That's BS. It can do only 20V 3A. Or maybe it's a cable issue: you need a cable with an Id chip to tell the PD system that the cable will handle 5A without melting.

    I have this one and am completely disappointed. Living in 2024 you would expect such a unit to support USB 3.0. It doesn't. No data is going through, so it is impossible to test USB3 buspowered devices, as without data they simply don't start up.

    • @abnormaltrusk12
      @abnormaltrusk12 3 місяці тому

      I honestly don't know if a single one of these devices that actually use USB 3.0 to be fair there is really no specific need for USB 3.0 because everything goes through quickly enough at USB 2.0 speeds it's not like you're transferring large amounts of data.

    • @horstsauer9089
      @horstsauer9089 3 місяці тому

      @@abnormaltrusk12 Your reply would have had merit 5 years ago. USB 3 is everywhere and I constantly need that mode to check the power reuirements and behaviour when DUTs run in that mode. Fortunately meanwhile there are others that fully support that, and I use them succesfully. FNIRSI is clearly lagging behind here.
