It would wake them more expensive! + you will have a bunch of usless metal, cause you don't need to light 100 candles at the same time! You may only need a few! In that way, it makes it uneffective, and wastes resources!

Before alarm clocks there was a device which consisted of a candle with a nail that could be placed in the wax at different heights, they would calculate how fast the candle burned the wax and labeled each nail hole corresponding to a certain time. So for instance, if you planned to wake up at 7:00 AM you would put the nail at the 7:00 mark and light the candle. When the wax burned away down to the mark the nail would clammer loudly to the ground and hopefully wake you up.
Heck yeah! Another interesting method were "knocker uppers" in the early industrial times in Britain for example, waking people up by knocking on windows, also with long poles to reach up to the second stories! People had to get inventive when they started implementing working shifts!

I can see how this could cause more harm than good, because with these you could leave the candles unattended. Without them you always had to have the candle in mind you know.

This is a very useful product, back when i was 11 i went on a trip to my parents friends at house that was on a lake. I remember that their daughter left some candles on in her room, and they eventually caught the room on fire. We were gone while it happened, and when we came back the smoke alarms were on and there was smoke everywhere. We extinguished the fire but the whole bedroom was left charred and smokey. The house was spared( this was in a rural area!)
Something really cool is when the lid flips down, the fire heats the metal up for a moment. For that brief moment, you can see the metal melting the wax at the edge

Nono. The little peg folds itself when the flame melted the candle to that level. Not timer at all.
