You guys have just majorly earned my respect here. I lost a brother when I was seven and then in my late twenties I took care of my sister, the closest person to me in my life, as she died at home with me from cancer at age 32. I know to a lot of people what I've just written will sound grim and not appropriate for sharing. I'm confident you know that what I'm sharing here grew things in me that I am so grateful for. Avoiding these things isn't an option and the payoff for facing them with love and care is invaluable. Credit to you for not shielding your children from your father's illness. In the light of death all things shine and this fact is now a part of their frame of reference. It's a gift. Thank you for sharing your story.
It isn’t inappropriate to share, being with someone as they die is a privilege. To care for someone before they transition to a new realm deserves respect. 💕
Awe man. My dad also passed away from ALS. I quit my full time job to stay home and be my dad’s caregiver along with my daughter who was 4 years old at the time. I was a daddy’s girl, such a difficult time. I was honored to be able to support my dad, and spend his last days with him. My husband (John) and I will be full time RVers in May 2022. Camping with my dad was one of my favorite memories, soon to create new memories with my husband. You both have inspired us to take the leap to be full timers. Now to learn your journey this far, we feel even more connected to you guys! Hope to meet ya one day! Thank you for your inspiration!!
Christie, I’m so sorry to hear about your dad. It brings tears to my eyes reading how close our stories are. I was a daddy’s girl as well and though the 4 years I spent caring for him where some of the hardest of our life, I wouldn’t trade a second. I got to know him so much better than most will never know their parents and that was an incredible gift. I’m so glad your daughter was able to be with you during that time as well. So much is modeled before our children when they see us deal with hard and heavy things. We are so happy that you guys are out finding your own SOMEDAY and hope we get to meet you as well! Sending big hugs. 😊 - Jess
Awe.. I’m so sorry for your loss.I lost a sister to ALS . It’s a horrible illness.my husband an I just started on our journey, I’m 62 an he’s 56 we love it but it’s a lot of work .well worth it tho.fixing to go to Colorado then to Grand Canyon.really enjoy watching your videos.you’ll have a beautiful family..safe travels!
I’m so very sorry to hear about your sister. It is one of the worst diseases on earth in my opinion. 😔 Congratulations on hitting the road! We hope you guys have an incredible summer. Thank you so much for watching!😊
I’m so sorry your dad and your family had to go through ALS. My brother passed away almost 9 years ago with ALS. He was diagnosed at only 49 and lived with it for 3 years. Thank the Lord he had 5 siblings to help take care of him. It was hard to watch him experience such a horrible disease. He was such a brave soul. I will cherish every day I had with him. Maine is so beautiful and your photography is excellent. We hope to visit there one day soon. Take care.
Eva, I am so very sorry to hear about your brother. ALS is a monster and in my opinion, the most horrific disease on this planet. Your brother was so very young, but I am so thankful he was surrounded by those who loved him and whom I’m sure he loved very much. The time we got with dad was a treasured gift and I know you and your siblings must feel the same. Hope you are able to get to Maine SOMEDAY soon! It really is pure beauty!😊- Jess
As new RVers, we were excited to find UA-camrs from Maine. We started a video Marathon of your channel. As we watched your episodes coming back to Maine, we relived our experiences. We have not been there since 2017 and it was only for one weekend. We have a house just outside of Kennebunkport and have not lived in it since 2007. So your videos in Maine were special. I will retire from the military next year and plan to RV full time for 6 months and head to our home in Maine. The sad thing and most disappointing thing you said in this video was your dismissive tone of Old Orchard Beach. 😾 I know Old Orchard Beach very well, since I grew up there and graduated from HS there. It has 7 miles of beautiful, smooth, clean beach and a great pier over the ocean. Palace Playland is a fun place to go with kids. Please be kind, your trash (my words, not yours) is my treasure. I look forward after over 40 years in the military to walk the clean beach of Old Orchard Beach at Sunrise.
I should have been more clear. These were recommendations for experiencing Maine. OOB is not necessarily something Maine specific . Unfortunately the OOB your used to is probably not the same(by the pier, I’m only referencing the pier area) . The last couple of times we were there (2017) there was a lot of trash, a lot of drug use, and the over all vibe didn’t inspire safety or relaxation, this was during the day. I don’t even need to mention at night what goes down. Thank you for your service, and congratulations on the upcoming retirement! I hope some things have changed since I was there last. We used to go there all the time in high school . I don’t mean to bash OOB , but if someone is there with limited time to experience “Maine” it’s honestly not something I would recommend . In my defense I also didn’t recommend people go to my hometown and go see Sebago Lake. It also is absolutely stunning . Where are you stationed now?
@@FindingOurSomeday I’m Stationed in the wonderful state of Texas. I have family and friends who still live and work there. I agree that the country in general has many areas, to include tourist sites, that have been laden with drug abuse. However, I respectfully disagree with your general comment about OOB, but that is ok. We all have different life experiences and each view it subjectively. C’est la vie.
I am so sorry about your dad. I just want to give you a hug. I lost my mom in 2004 to breast cancer. She was told she had 6 months to live and they were right. Very hard to talk about so I know how hard that was to share. Thank you for sharing the story and pictures. ~Rhonda
I’m so very sorry for your loss as well. No matter the age or situation, losing a parent is so very hard. And though I am so thankful for the time we had with Dad as the girls got to know him in such an intimate way, I’m so glad that your mother didn’t suffer for long. Losing them is awful, but seeing them suffer is unbearable. Thank you for taking the time to comment. Sending you huge hugs today! ❤️- Jess
Thanks for sharing your story, I lost my dad to cancer and he's the one who cultivated a love for the outdoors. My wife and I homeschooled our five children and we have no regrets because our journey has never stopped. I am blessed because I was able to retire relatively young and we moved south to Florida and we travel regularly, haven't convinced my wife to go full-time but we love our land cruises. I also loved seeing Nathan and Marisa join you!
I just watched this video. I found your channel a few weeks ago. I enjoy watching your videos. We have something in common, my Mom passed away with ALS. It is rare for a female to have it. I also was not working and spent as much time as I could with her and my son was 4 years old and can remember some time he spent with her. I’m so great full to have that time with her. Robin
Robin, I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. It is the most horrific disease on this planet in my opinion. I’m so thankful that you and your son got that time with her like we did with my dad! Thank you for watching and following along with us!😊
I love Maine. I climbed out on the rocks at Bass Harbor light in November. There was a wreath on the light. I had the place to myself, but I couldn't take the "perfect" picture because the light was wrong. There were deer in the parking lot. I went all the way to Eastport and took a boat ride to Machias Seal Island to see the Puffins. Sat in 'blinds' and the birds forget you're there and come back to within 15'. The tides at the Bay of Fundy were 25'. Yikes.
My mom passing gave me a kick in the pants and the unexpected extra money to start RVing. Starting local and branching out from there. Not full time. Just playing and making memories. Thanks for having the courage to share that. God bless your channel/career - and the beauty you create. Your heart shows in your art.
Respect and heart hugs! You have given your daughters the importance and strength of family plus the courage to follow dreams and all of us too, by sharing it all. Thank you!
My wife and I have been RVers for nearly four years now and I've been following lots of UA-camrs since even before buying our first trailer. In that time I never ran across your channel until recently!! I'm binge watching your episodes now and love your message and your story. This particular episode was really heartfelt and loved learning about the beginning of Someday for you and your family. I'm always saying someday myself and trying to find it as well. Looking forward to many more of your episodes. Don Haller - Chesapeake Beach, MD
Made a point to drive up to Fort Kent a few years ago. Spent 63-73 from Key West to Dayton Beach in the U. S. Coast Guard. Put on 80,000 miles in 6 yrs. Enjoyed your videos. A lot of work goes into the final product.
Hey man! Hope you and the family are well! We will be back this summer and hope to hang at the old “beach” if we can. We have some amazing memories there! Hopefully we can catch you guys and say hi!😃
Thank you for sharing about your dad. My wife died 3 years ago at the age of 62. It was 6 months from diagnosis to eternal life. Less than 1 year before Cindy's diagnosis we upgraded our camper and had plans to travel. It was not easy to go out the first time but every time I head out I am grateful for our camper as it has made it so much easier for me. Our first camper was a hybrid and the current camper is fully enclosed. Life is short, embrace it.
Terry, I am so sorry to hear about your wife. So very young and so quick. Though I loved the time we had with dad, I am so thankful that Cindy didn't suffer long. And as Lily so beautifully said after my dad died, she "is healed now!" 😊 Glad to hear that the RV has brought you joy and is helping you through the grief process. We hit the road 3 years after Dad died and the pain was still very raw. Thank you so much for watching and sharing your story. God Bless! - Jess
My husband and I went about 4 years ago in July to Maine. Landed in Portland..rented a car and went up to Bar Harbor and stayed a week. Amazing! A lot of fog when we went to Acadia but still had a wonderful time! Can't wait to go back in our RV/camper and stay longer.
Tough one. Lost my brother who was 58 just 3 weeks ago. There's such comfort in looking back and knowing you did your best and that you were there for them. It makes you want to go out and really live your life for them. I agree about the Maine winters, I'm about ready to leave here for the winters but the hubby isn't ready yet. He's a stubborn Aroostook county boy! You left out Kennebunk and Federal Jack's for beers on the deck!
Lori, I am so very sorry. I know your grief is still very raw and the feeling of relief can bring up guilt at times. I hope and pray that you push that guilt aside as it is always a relief when those we love are no longer suffering. Praying for you and your family as you work through this time and find the beauty in life that I’m sure your brother would want you to seek after. Sending big hugs! - Jess
He looked so young. Sorry to hear of his loss, but from pain comes growth. He Is your biggest cheerleader and is watching and enjoying your happiness. And we love Maine, lots of family memories for us there, too,
He was very young. 46 at diagnosis but 18 at heart.😊 He was an incredible man, and we know he would be so proud of what we are doing and who his sweet grand babies have become. Thank you for watching! - Jess
What an amazing story. I didn’t know about the history but I am grateful for you sharing and for taking care of your dad. Miss my parents every day and love seeing the family first carried out in so many ways. The photography professionalism comes through in all of your videos. Be safe and may God bless you.
What a beautiful engagement story! And the story of how you guys got started traveling full-time... You guys are so special. It’s the hardest thing to make something beautiful out of a tragedy. And being able to share that incredible lesson with your children is an invaluable tool for a full, amazing life. 💕
Thank you so much for your kind words and support, Valerie. It means a lot. Our time with Dad was so precious and I am grateful for everyday that the girls got with their “Uppo”. 😊
Went to Bar Harbor over 30 years ago with our boys and an older pop-up camper. Wasn’t crazy about the campground but loved the park so much and the smaller towns and bays in the area. It was a flooding rain when we left and the road was under construction with a huge drop off between lanes. It was scary, couldn’t see a lot of the time and there was no way we could stop at LL Bean. Loved the lobster, we wen out on a lobster boat tour. Crazy to see lobster rolls at McDonalds. Best wishes.
As a kid, my grandparents had a cottage on Westport Island between Bath and Wiscasset. Loved my trips to Boothbay and my annual stop at LL Bean. I saved all year for that trip:).
We’ve also spent a lot of time growing up in that area. My parents are from Bath and my grandmothers(90th birthday in the video) didn’t move from there until a few years ago. I’m sure you went to many of the same places I did growing up! Small world....
I’m so sorry you lost your Dad at a young age and want to give you a hug. My Mom has been dealing with MS for about 31 years and now it’s starting to really hit her hard and I’m her only family left and I see changes in her almost on a daily basis as her MS attacks her. Absolutely love you guys and your channel and loved seeing the pictures and hearing your story of your home state. Maine looks like such a beautiful state and I love seeing all the lighthouses.
Thank you, Gary. I’m so sorry that your mother has been battling MS for so long. All of these neurological diseases are just horrific. So glad that she has you right now. Thank you for watching and for your constant support. Hope you are able to get to some Maine lighthouses soon!😊 - Jess

Thank you guys so much for sharing your story. Incredibly Powerful, Emotional and I wish everyone in our country could see the example you’re setting. It gives me so much hope for humanity and the direction we as a Nation should be heading together. Compassion, empathy and doing on to others as you would have done on to yourself are all hallmarks of your message. So thank you so much for putting this out there. We all can learn so much from it. Wishing you guys all the best!
Loved this video my wife and I love Maine we have only been there three times in our fifth wheel twice to Naples where we stayed on long lake my favorite thing was the loons I love listening to them in the evening. In 2019 we went to Acadia national park it was gorgeous it was October the fall colors were beautiful! I couldn’t have noticing the General Dynamics Bath Iron sweat shirt my wife and I worked at the General Dynamics Electric Boat sister plant down the road in Connecticut we live in Mystic Ct she retired in 2016 and I retired in 2020 Covid kept us home last year and my wife was diagnosed with lung cancer this year she has had surgery and is doing Chemotherapy we are praying we are able to get her back to full health and take the cross country trip we had planned for when we retired. Thanks for sharing your beautiful story loved every minute of it and God Bless you for being there for your father I know how tough that can be my mother had dementia and passed away in March of this year!
Your story really hit me this morning. Now lucky at 70, we are planning our RV trip, to the mainland, with luck we will make to to Maine. Aloha and Mahalo
Thank you. 🙏 And I’m so sorry to hear about yours as well. I was definitely a daddy’s girl and I am so thankful for all the time I got with him before he passed away. Thank you for watching and reaching out. It means so much.😊- Jess

I sooo appreciate this information for rving Maine. My wife and I are planning a trip there in September '22 to celebrate our 25th anniversary. I'm a full time photographer can hardly wait to capture some of the beauty that Maine has to offer. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge of the area!! #MAINE22
I loved this video & probably the main reason I started following y’all months ago. Thank you for being so open & honest about life, struggles & what brought you to this current journey!!! Happy Adventures!!!
Having travelled to many destinations in the U.S. on the Harley, our trip to Maine was one of the most memorable. No matter where you looked, it was like a Nat Geo photo.
Thanks for sharing your story. I quit my job last year to care for my father with dementia. It’s been emotionally difficult. It’s nice to see happiness on the other side. Y’all look happy and like you are embracing life! What a wonderful lesson for your kiddos and a great show for your dad to watch as he’s looking down on you.
Beth, I am so sorry to hear about your dad. What a precious gift you have given him to be the one to love and care for him during this time in his life. And there is happiness on the other side of grief. Living life to its fullest and teaching Dad's granddaughters to do the same is the greatest way to share his legacy. 😊 Also, my mom is Beth, too! - Jess
Thank you for the encouragement! It’s hard to watch him change. With dementia he is not the grandpa he once was and it is so hard to know only my oldest child might remember how important she was to him. But I will keep telling them. The circle of life is hard sometimes. One day we will be out there with y’all having adventures. I want to build great memories and see great things before my 60s. Just incase dementia finds me too. I really enjoy watching your story and your family. Y’all are a joy to watch!
I am so sorry you lost your dad and nothing can take away that pain, but know he is walking the streets of gold in paradise with the greatest of all....our King of kings ..Jesus. We love you guys and I love this channel and watching you guys explore this amazing country. We need more !!
Thank you so much for watching and the the joy of knowing we will see him again gets us through the waves of grief that still come today. Until then we will continue to look for the beauty for ashes that we are given. 😊- Jess
We spent a month in Maine and would have loved more time. When talking National Park sites, don't forget the new one Katadin Woods, but anywhere around Baxter State park is awesome. There is also Roosevelt Campabello, Maine Acadian culture, The Appalachian trail which runs through Baxter and Saint Croix Island, excellent place to see the tides.. We loved Maine. Ah and don't forget can't go to Maine without a trip to Marden's.
I injoy your adventure, your both very positive. I'm a 3rd. generation of Calif. A weekend wiorrer of travel, my name is Glenn , Pauline is my wife you explained Calif very well alot to see, I've since moved to Arizona, 73 years. Old, got to expensive to live there, keep up the good work plan on watching all your episodes, makes me want to do more traveling, thank you, God bless.
My husband and I used to be bakers at Standard Baking Company, down on commercial street, across from the Casco Bay ferry terminal. it is fabulous! Bread and pastries!!
Boothbay Harbor is fantastic! Can’t recommend enough. Don’t miss Bett’s Fish Fry for lunch. The servings are huge and the fish is perfectly cooked. Yum!!! Plus, free beer tomorrow! 😆 #mainehumor
For the record, Bet’s only serves one thing: fish. No lobster. And (despite the funny sign) no beer. But it is THE BEST fried fish anywhere. Definitely worth the trip 😋
Good way to see Casco Bay on the cheep is a mail cruse. You ride on the mail boat that takes mail and supplies out to all the islands. Plus a told a little info on the way.
Thank you!!! Thank you!!! Thank You!!! Maine is at the top of the list as is all Of New England. That adventure scheduled for late summer '23. I cried with you as you told the story of your Dad.... Sorry can't help it!!! These videos make you a part of our life and not just another UA-cam channel. It put's a personal touch behind who the FOS family is and it keeps things real....
Thank YOU for watching! Really excited for you to get to Maine! Sorry to make you cry, I didn't realize I was going to get so emotional, bu sometimes it comes out of nowhere. So thankful for all who have joined our FOS family! Thanks for the support and kind words. They mean so much! - Jess
I grew up in Fort Kent! Moved to Bangor in 99 then to Portland in 2000. I currently live in southern NH with my wife and kids! We RV in Maine and NH. You guys are awesome! Love following your family on your journey! We have some great campgrounds here in NH! When you’re back in New England, check us out!!! Safe travels!!
The sun? I thought it was the bald head. I remember taking a Maine camping trip when I was in middle school. It was so amazing and still remember the trip.
😂 It is funny that everyone thinks Corey is bald! He actually had really fine blonde hair and if he grows it out, he has to put product in it, which he refuses to go, so the Navy cut it is!😉- Jess
You guys are the cutest. My hubby and I broke up after high school to and then got back together a year later and now married with 4 cats who are our children. We can't wait to get a camper to be weekend warriors for now. We have the truck and now need to save for the camper.
You really made me homesick! Good thing I'm bringing my new immigrant wife home to Dixmont, in fact we're flying to Boston tomorrow and will stop in Portsmouth for the night before motoring up the 95 Saturday morn. Thanks for showcasing several spots I didn't know about. I'm saving this video and hope to make this summer my wife's best ever. Oh yeah, SUBBED ya too. Tim & Irina
Love the video of Maine. Been there a few years back and saw some nice sites, but I do have to disagree about the most photographed light house in the world. That would be the Peggy’s Cove light house in my home province of Nova Scotia, Canada. You guys should come visit when the borders are open. Take care and enjoy. You touched a never. My father worked for 38 years and died at 54. He never got to do the retirement thing either.
Thank you! Tomorrow isn’t promised! I’m sorry to hear about you father passing so young as well... That’s a good looking light house , we will visit it when we make it up there! Maybe next year! Google is on my side with the “most photographed lighthouse in the world “ 😉😃 Google knows everything right 😂
You brought tears to my eyes again as you shared alittle about your father before! My Mom diagnosed at 47 lived to be 51 yrs. ALS is cruel and hard but your are so correct in what grows from this type of experience. Hugs I so understand the tears as I wipe my eyes with you! 💗 My BIL gave me a quick drive to Maine when he was at Ft. Devens. Can't wait til we RV up there. We are traveling thru the NW this last 6 months of this year that is if we get our new RV that we ordered October 30th.
My heart breaks for you and just reading your comment brought me to tears. Unless you have experienced it yourself, no one truly understands what this horrific disease does to your loved one and your family. I'm so very sorry. Sending huge hugs right back! 😊 SO glad that you have been to Maine before, and we can't wait for you to be able to RV up there. It is incredible! And congratulations on the new RV! Be sure to tag us in a photo when you get it so we can see! Thank you so much for watching! - Jess
You made me cry talking about your dad and girls. Such an inspiring life story. Thanks for sharing with us all, it gives one courage to just go for it & live life everyday to the fullest.
Nice to see you in your natural habitat- Maine. We are from NH and have been to many of the places you show, including Portland Harbor and Two Lights. We will be back in NH in Sept to visit family for 2 months before finding our way back to Az. Lobster Shack is always a favorite place. We started full timing in 2004 and have enjoyed rving ever since. A lot of the places you travel to we have been to also. We have found new places to go to because of the You Tubers we watch. Our first summer full timing was 5 months of fun and work in Bar Harbor. We were too young to retire. I thought I was going to die hiking the bee hive, but I made it. Thank goodness the trail down the backside was easy. Yes, Booth Bay is great but almost anywhere along the coast is great. Can’t wait to be back on the coast this Fall. Thanks for this video.
We drove through Maine from St. John NB & HAD to go to Bangor...Hubs is a big Steven King fan (think he was the only one in Bangor when we were there) & I just HAD to go to a place that was named Bangor🤣. Also to a fabulous quilt shop! We stayed in Wolfe’s Neck Oceanfront Camping & had an ocean side campsite. Got a few good shots there.
We rented a cabin on a small lake in Maine for 2 weeks two years in a row. We loved it during the month of August. Our kids were little and still talk about it. Our daughter and son-in-law live in nh so the drive up when they have good weather 👍🏻😁
Thank you for sharing your emotional story. While our loved one is gone the memories and love they shared endures within us. Love the channel. The work that goes into the channel truly shows.
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words. It isn't always easy to share your story but we hope that it is always helpful to someone. Corey works so hard on these videos and it is always nice when he is given recognition for it. Thank you! - Jess
Your dad did have his someday. He spent his last remaining days/years with the people who he loved and he loved every minute of it. I know if that was me and my daughter did what you did that would have meant the world to me and it would have made the days/years that lead up to my passing so meaningful.❤️
Thank you so much for your precious words. We know that his life was prolonged by the love he felt around him.😊Thank you for watching and joining us on our journey! - Jess
Just wanted to say thank you for sharing not this video but your lives we love to watch y’all you have helped encouraged us a lot just wanted to say thanks be safe God Bless
Great video as always!! It was so good meeting you guys at the meetup in this video. My (Ken) knee is finally doing better and I'm hiking again with Cathy & no more cane!!! We agree about Higgin's Beach...and all the other places you mentioned. Jesse's story about her dad and all that you guys did to help is so like you guys!!!! That's what makes you guys so real!! Working on the house again to make her sellable (she needs some tlc) then hittin' the road fulltime!! We are headed back to the Black Hills the end of June and hopin' to catch a Rodeo in Belle Fourche around the 4th. No Grand Tetons & Yellowstone in one day like we did last year... We're going to savor that when we can stay for a month or so when we get our rig!! Enjoy your Journeys and we're praying for you guys!!
Hey guys! Glad to hear you are both doing better! And best of luck to you guys as you work on your house. It is a lot of work, but it is a precious time as well. Fixing up our house and enjoying all the "lasts" before we sold it and hit the road was so special! We LOVE the Black Hills and that area! Hope you guys have a wonderful time. Tag us in some photos so we can see! Thank you for the prayers and taking the time to comment! - Jess
Wow… thanks for sharing! Really helps one understand your content knowing a little more about your reasons for your life choices. I lost my dad to ALS 10 years ago so I can relate to living through that as well. Such a tragic disease.
We have been visiting Maine for about 10 years. Our favorite is Boothbay Harbor too! Such a small, charming harbor. Oh, and Ocean Pointe. The sunrise from there is stunning. Thanks for your video.
We love visiting Maine (and NH)! Fort Knox and Penobscot Bridge Tower is gorgeous and a lot of fun for kids to explore. It's not to far south of Bar Harbor/Acadia and near the coast.
A good friend of mine told me something a long time ago that I've never forgotten..."It all starts with a dream. If the dream is big enough, the facts don't count" I really wish I could do more than just click the like button here!! Thank you for sharing. You are both such a motivation for myself and my wife! We'll be fulltime on the road later this year and it's in part due to you. Much love from our family to yours.
We loved seeing comments like this! Thank you for watching and following along with us on our journey! The quote from your friend is right on. Psyched to see your journey begin! Be sure to tag us in some photos when you hit the road!👍
I have been lucky enough to visit Maine twice for wildlife photography tours. A highlight was going to Machias Island to take pictures of the puffins and other pelagic species that were there for the annual breeding season. It is a beautiful and very different state compared to the deep south where I live these days and most definitely different to Australia where I am from originally. Love your adventures.
I have a Maine trip on the back burner. Probably cross over near Fort Kent then south west through the forests to Portland and Mt. Washington then zig zag back north along the coast😍 Touching story. Difficult times makes people stronger.😌
Thank you for this video, it is one of the best you have given your subscribers! My father passed away when he was 55, but I have the memories of our travels he took us on when I was a child. Now, I want to take my adult children and grandchildren to those magical places like Portland, Maine which I fondly remember.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to write. I’m so sorry for the loss of your dad at such a young age but thankful that you got to spend such wonderful time with him. What a gift to give your children and grandchildren. I know he would be very proud.😊 - Jess
So sorry to hear about your Dad. But so happy for him that he had you. I lost my Dad two years ago next week. I’ve lived away here in the States since I was twenty. I’m 56 now but got to go home to Ireland at least once a year. My Dad was fortunate to have had a full life and touched so many people. But it’s always hard to loose your hero. As for Maine it was cool you mentioned Fort Kent I’ve ridden my bike to mile marker 0 in key west from Connecticut and this summer plan to finish the trip with a ride to the 1st mile marker in Fort Kent. Thanks for the tips for places to check out on that trip. So glad you guys had a great time at home. Thank you for sharing.
I’m so very sorry to hear about your dad, as well. Those anniversaries can be hard sometimes. It is strange as some years, I am ok and others are very emotional. And you said it so well that it is always hard to lose your hero. My dad was definitely mine as we well.😊 We are so happy to know that you have been able to see Route 1 through Maine! And you will love the ride down the Keys! Be sure to take some photos and tag us in them so we can see you get to the beginning! - Jess
The ride to the keys was a few years back. Loved it. Still don’t understand why I95 goes north I had no desire to come home. This year it’ll be Fort Kent after a quick ride to Orlando to see my daughter. I’ll be sure to take pics and tag you guys.
We have sailed into Bar Harbor and visited Acadia. We are RVers. we are retiring in 2-3 years and plan on going back. Thanks for your hard work and information. God Bless your family.
Excellent video you guys. I am so very sorry for your loss Lou Garrett's is such a horrible disease. My heart is with you I've also lost my dad...Thank you for everything about Maine which was wonderful and what I really appreciated is when you told me when the foliage is in full color. I lived in Baltimore for about 4.5 yrs late 90's and the last two weeks in October so Halloween the colors were just breathtaking. I've always wanted to do the drive up the entire East Coast all the way up into Canada and now I know WHEN to leave to catch all of it! My home state of Colorado is gorgeous also but I don't live there for the same reason we get about 3-4 month of gorgeous summer. And sure winter is great if you're into winter sports! But it lasts a good 8+ mo. not 6 like most places that are cold and snow. But personally I love Colorado in the summer just too short lived. I would always have to giggle to my family because the TV news in the fall would be going on about you've got to get up in the mountains and see the beautiful colors of the Aspens.. those clumps of scattered Aspen's I'm sorry Colorado but they just do NOT compare to the colors of the East Coast in the fall stunning! I loved Baltimore every fall I literally felt like I was living inside a postcard just walking out my front door 😆 Pictures just don't do them justice as in person!! As always safe and happy travels!💗
Thank you so much for your kind words. I am so sorry to hear about your dad. No matter the circumstance, losing a parent is so very hard. We hope you are able to get up to Maine soon and catch the foliage up there! It is definitely worth a trip and feels like you are in a post card!😉 - Jess
Oh! What a lovely remembry of your dad 💔❤️ Anyone who's lost someone dear needed a couple tissues with you.. what a great travel guide of Maine! Thank you!
So many have had experiences like ours and we hope that sharing our story inspires others to feel comfortable doing the same. Thank you for watching and taking the time to write. We appreciate it so much! 😊 - Jess
Between hearing your story and Jess losing her father so young (my mom died when I was 19, she was 54)...all the beautiful spots in our amazing state...and the hugs goodbye, I'm crying like a baby. Thank you for sharing your story/journey...you have an amazing family!! Safe travels!
Thank you for watching. I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. So young as well. And saying goodbye to my mom in Maine is always a tear jerker for us. Thanks for taking the time to write! It means so much!🙏 - Jess
I agree with all of your choices. We absolutely love Acadia (dog friendly). I would add Kittery Trading Post (better then LLB). Out of Bar Harbor drive up to Lubec (reversing falls & light house) and cross over to Campobello Island (Roosevelt Home/Park). There's a lot of haunted cemeteries too. Ice cream! Any place is a great place for ice cream in Maine. Great video. Thank you for sharing your story and the pictures.
So much to recommend and so little time! Thanks so much for adding your recommendations! 🙌 And I can’t believe we forgot to mention Shaine’s of Maine Ice Cream!
I've been binge watching your videos and enjoying them all! Thank-you so much for your Inspiration to everyone! Keep up the good work! My wife is from Maine (Winslow) and we visit up there often especially Bar harbor.
I am terribly sorry to hear about your dad. I know from experience that it is horrible. I lost my mom at a very young age. I live in Ohio and visited Acadia and you are right, the tolls were expensive through NY. I loved Acadia and Bar Harbor but would like to visit Maine again and visit some of the places you mentioned in your video.
Thank you, Mike, and I am so sorry to hear about your mom. We really hope that you are able to get up to Maine soon and get to see some of our favorite spots! Thanks for watching and taking the time to write. 😊- Jess
And thank you for sharing 🙏 that’s an insane amount loss to deal with, especially at a such a young age. So sorry you went through that...
Don’t ever be afraid to share your journey. Authenticity is important.
It isn’t inappropriate to share, being with someone as they die is a privilege. To care for someone before they transition to a new realm deserves respect. 💕
We strive to always be authentic for our audience. Thank you for watching.
Thank you. It was an honor and a privilege to care for Dad in those last 4 years. An immeasurable gift. 😊- Jess
Loved also seeing Nathan & Marisa from Less Junk More Journey.
We loved showing them around Maine!
Thank you so much Jess ❤️
We're leaving tomorrow on our first rv trip. May God travel with us.
Congratulations! We wish you all the best and safe travels on your first trip!🙌
I know Old Orchard Beach very well, since I grew up there and graduated from HS there.
@@FindingOurSomeday
I’m Stationed in the wonderful state of Texas.
Yikes.
Was that all in one day?! We drove up to Eastport on a whim one day from Portland , haven’t seen the puffins though !
Thank you!
Really appreciate you saying so. Thanks for watching!😃
Glad you have been able to get up there to see it! We love Fort Kent and Key West!😃 Thanks for watching!🙏
What a wonderful video! And once again....THE PHOTOGRAPHY WAS SPECTACULAR!
So glad you enjoyed it! Maine a a fun place to photograph!😃
I still think of you guys when we visit the "beach", glad you guys are happy
Hey man! Hope you and the family are well! We will be back this summer and hope to hang at the old “beach” if we can. We have some amazing memories there! Hopefully we can catch you guys and say hi!😃
Family is the most important part of life. Everything I do is for my family.
Thank you for your advice on crossing the Hudson via I-84.
Absolutely, and you’re welcome! That toll is brutal!
Reid state park went every summer growing up it was the best beach
I have been a few times when I was a kid but Jess has never been. Maine had so many great beaches. We will have to get up there SOMEDAY!😃
- Jess
Awww. This made me cry so much. So sad. I lost my mom at 49, in a car accident, when i was 7 mo pregnant, i surely can sympathize.
What an amazing story. I didn’t know about the history but I am grateful for you sharing and for taking care of your dad. Miss my parents every day and love seeing the family first carried out in so many ways. The photography professionalism comes through in all of your videos. Be safe and may God bless you.
We loved cycling in Acadia including Cadillac mountain and the loop.
I bet the loop on a bike is incredible! 😃

I'm sorry your loss ! It's hard to loose your Dad I have been there im a daddy's girl! My dad had cancer ! I love main its beautiful 😍💕 prayers ❤

#MAINE22
3 years on patrol Brunswick NAS-Tully-Iceland and back every day. (1960-63)
My family is from Bath and my boat USS Monterey was made at BIW in Brunswick. Sounds like it was a cool patrol! 👍
@@FindingOurSomeday What I miss is huge Lobsters we would get 5-10 pound lobsters for 2 bucks each.
We think it is pretty special!
Thank you so much for watching, Glenn, and taking the time to comment. God bless you as well!
My husband and I used to be bakers at Standard Baking Company, down on commercial street, across from the Casco Bay ferry terminal. it is fabulous! Bread and pastries!!
We love York Beach and Marginal Way (RV with Noni and Beard). And speaking of lobster, one of our granddaughters (poptart) is just in love with them.
Those are great spots ! In love with eating them or just them in particular ? 😃
@@FindingOurSomeday She discovered that they taste awesome and loves to eat them!
Thank you for sharing your story. Sorry about your dad. Glad you guys got to spend that time with him.
Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment! Our time with dad was a precious gift.😊- Jess
Boothbay Harbor is fantastic! Can’t recommend enough. Don’t miss Bett’s Fish Fry for lunch. The servings are huge and the fish is perfectly cooked. Yum!!! Plus, free beer tomorrow! 😆 #mainehumor
So many memories in Boothbay! Thanks for the recommendation! Free beer 😳
Free beer tomorrow (as in, always tomorrow - never today) 😆 Bet has a singular sense of humor. True Maine.
For the record, Bet’s only serves one thing: fish. No lobster. And (despite the funny sign) no beer. But it is THE BEST fried fish anywhere. Definitely worth the trip 😋
Oh no I get it😂 like the “free beer, and hot wings” radio show .
Beautiful story from a beautiful family. God bless you all.
Thank you for watching and joining us in our story. God bless you as well!
So very sorry about your father, you are great parents and an insperation to so many
You guys are the cutest. My hubby and I broke up after high school to and then got back together a year later and now married with 4 cats who are our children. We can't wait to get a camper to be weekend warriors for now. We have the truck and now need to save for the camper.
So glad you came back to each other! Hope you are able to get the camper soon! Thanks for watching!
Baxter State Park.
L.L. Bean used to look like the upstairs of a V.F.W. Hall in the good old days.

Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words. That is what Dad did for us and we hope that we can inspire others now for him. - Jess
You all are my favorite UA-camrs…! I love watching your journey.
I got engaged in Aug 2000 so we're close...married 19 yrs this July. Great video. I wanna go to Maine so bad. It's on my list.
We rented a cabin on a small lake in Maine for 2 weeks two years in a row. We loved it during the month of August. Our kids were little and still talk about it. Our daughter and son-in-law live in nh so the drive up when they have good weather 👍🏻😁
Love that you guys got to have that experience with your kids. We're happy our girls spent their childhoods in Maine!
I grew up near Calais Maine....way up north, not quite Aroostook county but Washington County
We’ve only been to Calais once that I can remember! Northern Maine is amazing though, it’s like stepping back in time in some areas.
It is like a time capsule..
Thank you! - Jess

Thank you for sharing your story! Your family is inspiring!
Thank you for joining us on our journey! 🙏
- Jess

- Jess
My eyes are sweating......great video, touching.
Thank you 🙏 that section was a little tough to edit!
I’ve sharing your travels. Hugs from Ontario Canada.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment! Hoping the boarders open up soon so we can visit more of your beautiful home as well!
Man, we will have to add Ocean Pointe to the list with donuts and coffee!
We love visiting Maine (and NH)! Fort Knox and Penobscot Bridge Tower is gorgeous and a lot of fun for kids to explore. It's not to far south of Bar Harbor/Acadia and near the coast.
There are so many amazing places to visit in Maine! Thanks for the recommendations!🙏
I love your story and how it lead to your exploration. You had me in tears though!
Thank you for watching!
We haven’t gotten a chance to get up to see the puffins yet but it is on the list as is Australia! Thanks for watching!😃
BEAUTIFUL, WHAT A FANTASTIC FAMILY....
I have a Maine trip on the back burner. Probably cross over near Fort Kent then south west through the forests to Portland and Mt. Washington then zig zag back north along the coast😍
Touching story. Difficult times makes people stronger.😌
Sounds like an incredible trip! Hope you are able to take it soon! Thanks for watching!🙏
Damn!! Made me tear up!!
Sorry🙈 it was a tough edit....
Love Maine. My daughter went to the University of Maine at Machias.
Thanks for sharing your touching story.
Thanks for watching and joining us on this journey. It means so much. - Jess
My wife and I decided to retire in Boothbay, when not traveling in our motorhome. Everyone must visit Boothbay if you rv in Maine.
Absolutely! 🙌
Gotta stop at Bet’s Fish Fry in Booth Bay Harbor and the Botanical Gardens❤️
I was crazy and went all the way to Caribou and Fort Kent this past summer. Also did Portland and LL Bean.
Sailing the coast of Maine is on our list! Wishing you guys all the best as you plan on hitting that road in a few years. Thanks for watching!
😊 - Jess
Definitely we will get there soon...Thank you for all the point of interest.
You’re welcome, hope it helps when you visit😃 thanks for watching
May God continue to bless your journey and thanks for sharing a lil bit of your journey with us followers 🙏🏼👍🏼
Ahhhh PEAKS ISLAND. I'm fortunate to have family who live there and you're absolutely spot on. Wonderfully touching video. Great advice. 👍
What a great place to be able to go visit family! Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching!
I did climb that cliff myself. My friend quit part way. Going back down i had more fear. Going up, not so much.
😊- Jess
