      those karts are actually generating Downforce with the entire shell & nose as well. Thats what keeps these from being death machines. Just like learning sailboat racing in dingys, there is no better way to learn to race then to strip it to its barest elements.
      The top end shifter kart racing scene is no joke.

      RazQrt Of course. It takes both skill and dare to get the good lap times. But too many thinks it's just a question of a fast car and the balls to keep pushing. So every racing video have lots of "I can go faster" comments from people who have run fast on the straight or through high-speed corners in dry conditions and without other cars fighting for the same piece of road.
      I enjoy good drivers that run lap after lap with almost identical intermediate times because they have the skill to repeatedly make the same decision and the skill to get the vehicle to do as decided.

      @Nicolás Navascués Mollá It's really a different kind of G-Force, though I'm sure physicists would have a better way to put it. The 40g crash is only experience for half a second to a second, whereas 2.3g on your neck throughout a corner for a few seconds is pretty tricky. If you had 40g on your neck through a corner, it would snap, it's impossible, 6 is roughly the limit I believe.

    I went karting for the first time this year at a small track (1.04km). I'd never driven anything before so jumping straight into karts with twin 160cc motors was scary as all hell. It certainly made me appreciate people like you who have the skill (and balls) to take corners at 170kph. The fastest I went was about 90-100kph on a straight... Before not braking enough at the end and winding up leaving skid marks all through the gravel bank and into the pit lane entrance (thankfully not a wall).
    It also made me appreciate the upper body strength of people who do this for long periods of time... My arms hurt for days afterwards.

      AgdR369 f1 is the pinnacle of Motorsport, not real driving series of shit like this. F1 are the fastest cars in the world, it's a fact. And for me, cornering at over 250 km/h is real driving, not cornering at 120 km/h with a kart. Real driving is trying an over 7G force when driving, or reaching 300 km/h in less than 15 seconds. He's a good kart driver, but don't you think he'll prefer to race in F2 or F1 series? And don't talk about DRS, Kers or F-Duct, cause new F1s are so aerodynamically complex that follow another car it's impossibile. Only great drivers can overtake this year

      +henrik lilja Okay I'm 18 so what would you recommend? I'm currently thinking a 100cc without gears like you mentioned, but I'm open to any advice from someone who has more experience. (^□^)

    • @henriklilja
      @henriklilja  9 років тому +22

      Today everything is 125 cc. You could start with a rotax max 125 cc to get some cheap and good training. Most important is to find a club and a track where you can drive.

    Awesome driving !! The Kart # 3 was faster than yours in the straight, but you brake a lot later than him !! I notice that the kart is "floating" on the fast turns, because the poor downforce. I have a question, no safety belt right?? Cheers !!

    • @henriklilja

      no safety belt. you don't want to stay in the kart if it rolls over. same as with motorcycle

    • @YenerNL
      @YenerNL 10 років тому

      Lol he has more topspeed than the others do. Going on the corner he is not on the good place and he looses time in the corner exit because the guy in front of him has the better (ideal line)

    • @ismafoca
      @ismafoca 10 років тому +1

      Sure, I see that. He used this line to over take. But take a look at the back camera. At top speed you can see the second guy coming not that much but you see his top speed is higher than Henrik. At corners Henrik goes better.

    • @omarfarrah8737
      @omarfarrah8737 5 років тому

      @@chrissss696 nothing guarantees that you won't be crushed by the car in case of an accident but at least the seatbelt would prevent you from flying out of the car in the first place. It seems to me that it's safer that way at least if the car doesn't roll over

    Why does he have a lateral acceleration up to 2.1G but brakes only with 1.5G?

    • @sebo8872
      @sebo8872 6 років тому

      Der Jens It depends on the tire construction in my view. Due to the relatively low power there may not be a point in maximizing traction but definately in lateral and combined performance. Another reason could be the braking bias as the wheelbase is damn short you dont want to lose the rear at 230kph. In short the braking is not as efficient. Aerodynamics should work equally under braking and cornering because the body hardly moves. I am not that familiar with karting tires in particular, but the materials and design shouldn't compare to regular slicks on GTs or rather "normal" racecars.

    • @mrebbesen
      @mrebbesen 6 років тому

      I’m guessing it’s because when you brake, you’re getting pushed forward from the speed you started braking with, and when accelerating/cornering the car forces you into another direction.
