That is not mimicry, Cosmo was picking up on what she was feeling for real. The line "So get a paper towel..." THAT was the kicker.. Just like us, trying to help by giving advice or helpful suggestions? That's mind blowing. There was only one camera cut here near the end. Mostly one long genuine shot so there were no vocal cues or commands. More empathy from a parrot than from most human beings..
She was saying the things you say when she’s scared/ hurt/ upset to make her feel better because she knows those are the love and comfort words. That’s so cool. Do you use a paper towel to help clean up minor injuries of hers? Scrapes/ bumps/ broken blood feathers/ etc. If so that’s a doubly intelligent suggestion from her. She’s not only offering comfort, but trying to problem solve and fix your pain too. What a beautiful creature.

She's so emotionally invested in how her Mom's feeling, she listens intently to every answer in order to guage what's going on & then responds accordingly...Cosmo shows perfectly what so many non pet owners just don't understand, that is whether or not they can verbalise it, our animals feel what we are feeling & it often shapes how this understanding on OUR feelings makes the bond between us & them strong, loving & mutually beneficial ❤❤❤❤
They love. Just as we do. As a part of the family they become connected. There is no mistaking when a grey is surrounded by love. They give it right back. ( other birds probably do too but I only had a grey)

Im not even shocked. Cosmo is extremely intelligent and highly aware of her surroundings and her people. She knows mama is sore, and she knows this interaction, even in its simplicity, is helping mama feel better! Thats incredibly heart warming!

Some people might think that's rubbish, that birds don't have facial and body expressions like that, but they do; as you would well know, being a mummy with feathers. She SO loves you! My Gray was so sympathetic when I was going through cancer treatment. He asked why I had no head feathers. Told him I was sick and medicine to help made them fall out. He looked at me a moment, then shook his head and said My poor mommy is sick. She doesn't have her headwaters. He was like that the entire year.

I know in the States and Canada you guys go in Fahrenheit and we go in Celsius. I hope you had a lovely day. My friend had her birthday on the 8th of Feb and a group of us celebrated her birthday at a pizza restaurant and Max Brenner chocolate Cafe. I don't know if Max Brenner is in the States or Canada.
