Video Summary:
Skeletal muscles are made up of fascicles which in turn are made up of muscle fibers or muscle cells. Characteristic content of muscle cells are myofibrils, T tubules... and sarcoplasmic reticulum. Myofibrils are an array of sarcomere arranged linearly. Its made up of thin filaments and thick filaments. Thin filaments are made up of actin, tropomyosin, and troponin. Thick filaments are made up of myosin 2 molecules. These filaments are the contractile machinery of the muscle. The myofibrils are surrounded by T-tubule - sarcoplasmic reticulum system. T tubules invaginate from the cell membrane and branches to make a network of t-tubules around myofibrils. Associated with it is the sarcoplasmic reticulum that stores Ca. Together these T tubules and sarcoplasmic reticulum play very important role in excitation-contraction coupling. Dispersed throughout the cytoplasm are mitochondria that supply ATP for muscle contraction.

The quality of your content is way superior than any other. This is so clean and neatly explained. Never understood the arrangement of Actin and Myosin in 3D (6 Thin filaments surround Myosin part). Now its crystal clear. Thank you❤
Most welcome 😊
@@NonstopNeuronIs dark band made of both actin and myosin? In guyton it is written - *The light bands contain only actin filaments and are called I bands because they are isotropic to polarized light. The dark bands contain myosin filaments, as well as the ends of the actin filaments*
@@aadi2625what you said is absolutely true...😊
@@aadi2625isotropic
Iso - same
Tropic- turn (like turn around a sphere, ex: tropic of cancer and Capricorn) which implies an change in term of direction.
Combine both words.
Iso + tropic
Which implies that no matter from which angle we measure the physical properties remain same.
Which is obvious it has only one type of filament, so obviously no change in physical properties..
Anisotropic literally means
An- No, absent
No isotropic, bcoz it has 2 different types of protein filaments with entirely different sequence of amino acids and so the physical properties changes when we measure in different angles..
So light band - Isotropic band
Dark band - Anisotropic band
Is there anyone who's watching this for neet exam?
